In his first season as the Furness professional, Ian Daniel, heads the Premier Division batting averages, having scored 637 runs at an average of just less than 71, and played a big part in Furness retaining the League Championship. Leading amateur is Millom s Ryan Brown who scored 757 runs at an average of 63.08, and wins the Premier Division batting award. Ryan is also top run scorer (including professionals) for the third consecutive season and so makes it a hat-trick of wins of the John Richardson award. Despite all the rain the Premier Division s highest amateur innings record was broken twice. The 158 Workington s Callum Moffat made on the opening day of the season at Millom, went past Geoff Luxon s 148 n.o. made in 2003, and then on July 30 th, Cockermouth s Alex Grainger made 169 against Haverigg, to break the new record score. First place votes also received by Ryan Brown (2), Chris Hodgson, and Peter Lawson. The League Dinner will be held in the Lisdoonie Hotel, Abbey Road, Barrow-in-Furness, on October 29 th at 7.00 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. The main speaker will be Peter Bowler, former 1 st class cricketer with Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Somerset and Tasmania. Born in England but raised in Australia, Peter has gained an excellent reputation as an after-dinner speaker. Award winners will be presented with their trophies etc. at the dinner. Taking 17 wickets in the last four games he played, Cleator skipper, David Rooney finishes at the top of the averages table, taking 38 wickets at just over ten runs each, and wins the Premier Division bowling award. David is also top wicket taker in the Division and wins the Judith Richardson award, as he did in 2007 and 2008 Cockermouth professional, Amila Weththasinghe with 52 wickets is top wicket taker overall. Three 1 st place votes, Two 2 nd place, Three 3 rd place First place votes also received by: Tom Smith (2), Drew Postlethwaite,Greg Platten, Andrew Ireland, Georgia Holmes, Jordan Hughes, Jack Cumberbatch, Adam Brown, Liam Curwen, Alex Grainger and Jake Daniel. Seascale Ulverston s Gareth Yates wins the First Division bowling award, heading the table with 45 wickets costing just over 10 runs each. Seascale s Danny Lee, with 51 victims wins the Albert Rushton Trophy being the top wicket taker in Division One. Well worthy of mention is Tom Green, who achieved that very rare feat of taking all ten wickets for Cleator II against Ulverston. Another rare achievement was that of Joe Braun-Smith who took two separate hat-tricks in consecutive overs, for Dalton against Cleator II.
