Amateur and professional chefs, using a variety of unique and tasty ingredients, will compete to be awarded the prize of King of the Grill. This is the second year the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event. You can judge the best of the best with the purchase of an amateur judging card for $10 which allows you to taste the creations. In addition to vendors, and a Kid s Zone, there will be a beer garden broadcasting UF, FSU and Miami football games. General admission is $5, children 3 and under are free. The fun begins at Noon and goes until 7:00 p.m. Amazing World of Illusions The Amazing World of Illusions VIII was presented at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 14th. Comedy magician Glen Foster, who performs his magic shows regularly on the Disney Cruise Line and for many corporate clients, stunned the crowd with his feats of comedy mind reading, cards tricks, and close-up magic. Illusionist Kendrix amazed the audience with his Las Vegas style illusions. 5 PAGE 5 Coed Volleyball The Fall Youth Coed Volleyball team began practice on September 9th at the Nova Community Center. Games, training and practice will take place twice a week on various days. Players are separated based on skill level. Each night, participants do a short warm up, skill drills and play games. For more information, call Gerry Pitchford, Athletic Supervisor, at (386) SONC The South Ormond Neighborhood Center is still booming despite a little inclement weather which has kept the crowds slightly down at the splash pad. Jazzercise classes continue, the Pride football players have been on the field, and as always, free play basketball is jamming.

7 PAGE 7 Parks Beautification Our Parks Maintenance staff recently made several repairs and upgrades in various areas throughout the City. New handicap accessible picnic tables were installed at the play area at Fire Station #91 and Milton Pepper Park. The loose and broken deck board on the pier at Sanchez Park was repaired making it safer for anglers testing their luck. At the Magic Forest Playground in Nova Community Park, staff secured four picnic tables to the concrete slab. Staff also installed a new trash receptacle at Milton Pepper Park for patrons to use. These repairs and upgrades are only a small portion of what the Parks Maintenance crew do each week to keep the City safe and looking beautiful for everyone.
