WELCOME TO THE GROUNDER GAMES: Starter LHP Clayton Richard has induced a Major-League best 260 ground balls...his 59.2 ground ball percentage leads the National League and is second-best in the Majors behind only TOR Marcus Stroman s 63.3 percentage...the southpaw has forced 22 ground-ball double plays this season, which leads the National League and ranks second in the Majors, behind only Stroman s 24. HAVE A DAY, DUSTY: INF Dusty Coleman hit his third career homer last night and had a career-high three hits...with his double and home run, he logged multiple extra-base hits in the same game for the first time in his career...coleman also recorded a career-high seven total bases in the matchup, and it was his second career multi-rbi game (other July 27 vs. NYM). WIL POWER: With his home run and double last night, INF Wil Myers recorded more than one extra-base hit in a game for only the second time this season, since he hit for the cycle on April 10 at Colorado...Myers' six total bases were the most he had since he logged six on April 29 at SF. Myers leads the club in hits (95), runs (55), RBI (52), homers (21) and walks (46). RECORD HUNTER: OF Hunter Renfroe is the only Major League rookie this season to have 20-or-more home runs and doubles (he has 20 homers and 22 doubles)...his 22 doubles lead all NL rookies and rank second-most in the Majors, behind HOU Yuli Gurriel's 30...Renfroe's 20 home runs are fourth-most among rookies, and he is chasing the Padres' franchise home run record for a rookie (24), which was set by Nate Colbert in TALK TO THE HAND: Padres southpaw Brad Hand has six saves in six consecutive save opportunities, and he owns the the longest active save streak in the Majors...with a 21.1 inning scoreless streak, Hand has the longest active scoreless streak in the Majors...Hand's scoreless streak is the longest by a Padres reliever since Fernando Rodney pitched 22.0 consecutive scoreless innings in THREE'S COMPANY: The Padres' 24 triples this season are sixth-most in the Majors...since the All-Star break, the club has hit nine triples, which ties with the Phillies for the league lead...the Padres are the only team in the Majors to have hit two triples in the same inning twice this season (on July 21 at SF and July 26 vs. NYM). PADRES ON DECK: Last night, RHP Enyel De Los Santos tossed 7.0 scoreless innings for Double-A San Antonio's sixth-straight win... RF Nick Schulz hit a two-run homer in his return to San Antonio, and 1B Josh Naylor won the game with a two-run double in the 14th. RHP Will Stillman, the Padres sixth-round pick in the 2016 draft, allowed five hits with nine strikeouts over 6.0 innings to lead short-season Single-A Tri-City to a doubleheader split against Boise. Single-A Fort Wayne's LHP Adrian Morejon allowed three runs in 5.2 innings, and RHP Hansel Rodriguez continued his strong run out of the pen with eight strikeouts in three scoreless innings. 2B River Stevens had five hits in his first game back at Advanced Single-A Lake Elsinore, and 3B Luis Almanzar was 4-for-7 for Tri-City.
