3 REBELS vs. SOUTH CAROLINA The Rebels and South Carolina have faced each other 51 times in the history of the two schools with the Gamecocks holding a lead in the all-time series. The two teams first met in the 1994 season with the Rebels winning the series 2-1 in Oxford. Ole Miss and USC have not played since 2011 when the Rebels won the series 2-1 in Oxford. The Rebels are against the Gamecocks all-time in the Mike Bianco era. Ole Miss has one the series in Columbia one time, claiming a 2-1 series win in the 1995 season. THROUGH 18 GAMES IN 2013 Through 18 games a year ago, the Rebels had posted a 17-1 record and were coming off a game one win over ULM in a midweek series. Ole Miss was hitting at a.308 clip with six home runs and 111 RBI, while going 22-of-35 in steal attempts. The Rebel pitching staff was holding to a 2.17 ERA and a.229 opponent s batting average. Pitchers had allowed 58 walks with 145 strikeouts in innings. ALLEN S PRODUCTION UP Senior Will Allen has been solid in his offensive production this season. Through 18 games this season, the catcher has tallied three home runs and 23 RBI, almost matching his total offensive production from his junior season when he hit four home runs and tallied 24 RBI. ALLEN NAMED SEC PLAYER OF THE WEEK Ole Miss got its first SEC Player of the Week selection on the opening week of play when the league office tabbed senior catcher Will Allen for the honor. Allen hit.545 in the series at Stetson with 10 RBI through 11 at bats and two home runs to help pace the Ole Miss offense against the Hatters. He tallied five RBI in the second game of the series on a 2-for-3 performance and four RBI on a 3-for-4 performance Sunday in the series finale. BENCH AWARD WATCH LIST Will Allen was one of 60 players nationally to find himself on the watch list for the Johnny Bench Award when the Greater Wichita Sports Commission released the initial watch list for Allen took over catching duties this season after 2013 Johnny Bench Award winner Stuart Turner was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the third round of the MLB Draft. MULTIPLE-HIT, MULTIPLE-RBI GAMES Will Allen and Auston Bousfield have paced the Rebel offense through the early part of the season, leading the squad in both multiple-hit games and multiple-rbi games. Bousfield leads with 10 multiplehit games, while Allen has posted nine multiple-hit games on the year. Allen has tallied five multiple-rbi games and Bousfield has added three multiple-rbi games. HIT STREAKS ON THE LINE The Rebels have several players with active hit streaks of more than two games heading into the weekend with UALR, the longest held by junior Auston Bousfield with an 11-game hit streak. Will Jamison (6), Will Allen (4), Austin Anderson (4), Sikes Orvis (4), Preston Overbey (4) and Errol Robinson (4) have also hit safely in more than two consecutive games. FINDING A WAY ON BASE The Rebels also have several players who keep finding a way to get on base, no matter the method. Austin Anderson leads the way with a streak of 17 consecutive games reaching base, while Errol Robinson is behind him with a streak of 16 games. Auston Bousfield (13), Will Jamison (11) are also Rebels who have a streak of reaching base in the double digits. REBELS BEST WHEN SCORING EARLY Ole Miss has been best when scoring early this season, posting a 11-0 record when scoring first and a 6-1 mark when scoring in the first inning. The Rebels have also been proficient at the plate while starting pitching holds opponents down. Ole Miss is outscoring opponents 32-to-11 through the first three innings. 4 SECOND TIME THROUGH THE LINEUP EVEN DEADLIER Ole Miss has been even more efficient the second time through the lineup this season. In the middle innings of games, the Rebels have outscored opponents at a rate of 42-to-16 that includes explosions of 19 runs in the fifth inning and 13 runs in the sixth inning through 18 games this season. WALK-OFF WINS The Rebels had a solid third week of play, posing four consecutive walk-off wins on the way to an undefeated week. Ole Miss beat ULM in the ninth in back-to-back games before taking the first two games of the UCF series with a 13-inning win and a 10-inning win. The Rebels then improved to 5-0 in walk-off games this season with a 10-inning win over UALR in the series opener. E AT THE 6 HOLE - JUST NOT THE E YOU THINK Errol Robinson turned in a solid outing in the opening weekend of play, performing in a manner that would be contrary to what his nickname of E might suggest to a casual observer. Robinson became the first true freshman to open a season at shortstop since the 2005 season (Zack Cozart) and was perfect in the field with three putouts and 12 assists on 15 chances. REBEL QUALITY STARTS (At least 6.0 IP and 3 ER or fewer) Date Pitcher vs. Opponent (Stat Line) 2/14 Ellis at Stetson (6.0 IP, 4H, 0R, 0ER, 2BB, 4K) 2/15 Trent at Stetson (6.0 IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 0BB, 6K) 2/21 Ellis vs. Ga. He s also helped the Rebels turn 15 double plays, good for almost one a game. REBEL PITCHERS LIMIT OPPORTUNITIES Ole Miss pitching staff turned in a solid opening weekend, holding the Stetson Hatters to three runs on the weekend series and limiting offensive opportunities for the Hatters. Rebel pitchers allowed only 14 hits on the weekend and posted the first shutout of the season on opening day with a 7-0 victory. The Rebel pitching staff also struck out 24 batters through the three-game series with only seven walks. Through four weeks of play, the Rebels have allowed 41 runs (two runs a game) in innings of work. In that time, the Rebels have posted three shutouts and four games with only one run allowed. SEVERAL REBELS MAKE SUCCESFUL DEBUTS Ole Miss had nine players make their debuts in a Rebel uniform during the opening weekend, including seven freshmen and two junior college transfers. Of those newcomers, three found themselves in the starting lineup (Braxton Lee, Errol Robinson and J.B. Woodman), while seven saw action on the opening day of competition. ELLIS TALLIES COMPLETE-GAME SHUTOUT Junior right-hander Chris Ellis joined a group of Rebels to pitch a complete-game in the opener against Georgia State when he tossed a shutout of the Panthers. Ellis scattered five hits over the nine innings and allowed no walks in the outing. It marked the first complete-game of his career and comes after turning in a long outing of 4.1 innings prior to this season. OLE MISS SUCCESSFUL IN SEASON OPENERS UNDER BIANCO Ole Miss has enjoyed success in season-opening games under head coach Mike Bianco, posting a 13-1 record in games to open the season over the past 14 seasons. The Rebels lone loss on opening day came at the hands of ULM to open the 2010 season when Ole Miss fell 6-5 to the Warhawks in Oxford. SEASON-OPENING WEEKENDS ALSO GOOD TO REBELS The Rebels have also been good in season opening weekends under Bianco with the Rebels claiming series wins in 10 of the 14 seasons. The Rebels did not play a weekend series to open the 2005, 2007 or 2009 seasons. Those years the Rebels either opened the year with a midweek games or played at a weekend tournament with multiple-teams. The Rebels also had a game rained out in the seasonopening weekend of 2012 and split the two games played at TCU to start the year. 4

The excitement and energy generated by Rebel fans has helped the squad post a record of at Swayze Field for a.728 winning percentage in that time. SWAYZE TOUGH PLACE FOR TOP-RANKED FOES Oxford-University Stadium hasn t been a kind place to the nation s top-ranked team when it comes calling under head coach Mike Bianco in recent years. The Rebels have faced the nation s top-ranked team three times in the last four seasons at home and walked away with the series win in all three meetings - vs. #1 Georgia in 2009, vs. #1 South Carolina in 2011 and vs. #1 Florida in In fact, it s been a tough place for top-10 teams to play over the last decade. Dating back to the 2003 season, the Rebels have hosted a top-10 team in a regular season series 15 times. Ole Miss has won the series in 11-of-16 meetings in the regular season. REBELS PRODUCE MLB TALENT The Rebels have a long tradition of producing Major League talent and connections with the highest level of professional baseball. Starting with the legendary Casey Stengel who coached Ole Miss in 1914, the Rebels have sent 40 players to the big leagues all-time. Last season, the Rebels had seven players active on MLB rosters in the 2013 season. Rebels in the Majors last season included: Chris Coghlan (Florida), Zack Cozart (Cincinnati), Phil Irwin (Pittsburgh), Lance Lynn (St. Louis), Drew Pomeranz (Colorado), Alex Presley (Pittsburgh/Minnesota) and Seth Smith (Oakland). 10 Ellis Ole Miss 7, Stetson 0 Feb. 14, 2014 DeLand, Fla. Melching Stadium OXFORD, Miss. - The Rebels came out and turned in an all-around solid performance on opening night Friday, combining an opportunistic offense with a lock-down pitching performance as Ole Miss (1-0) shutout Stetson (0-1) by a score of 7-0. Chris Ellis (1-0) picked up the win in his first Friday night start for the Rebels, working 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Wyatt Short also turned in a solid outing, working 2.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out four batters. Hawtin Buchanan then closed things out, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the shutout for the Rebels. Kurt Schluter (0-1) suffered the loss for the Hatters, allowing six runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work. Only two of the six runs were earned as the Rebels took advantage of miscues to break the game open early. Auston Bousfield paced the Rebels offensively, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and a walk as the Rebels tallied nine hits on the night in an opportunistic offensive performance. The Rebels got on the board in the first inning when Bousfield scored from second. The junior delivered a one-out double to the wall in left center to get things started. He then stole third during the next at bat and came home on the steal when the ball hit in the dirt and kicked to the backstop to give Ole Miss a 1-0 lead. The lead grew in the third when Braxton Lee scored on a ground ball to first from Austin Anderson as part of a five-run inning for the Rebels. Lee drew a walk to open the inning and took second on a steal. He then moved to third on a sac bunt from Bousfield down the third base line. The third baseman s throw pulled the first baseman off the bag, allowing Bousfield to reach safely and put runners at the corners for the Rebels. Lee then came home a batter later when Austin Anderson delivered a ground ball to first and the Hatters threw Bousfield out at second to get the lead runner. The Rebels held the 2-0 lead, however, with one out on the board. He then came home with a single to center from Will Allen and the Rebels moved the lead out to 3-0. A double from Preston Overbey and a walk of Will Jamison loaded the bases before J.B. Woodman would send a single back up the middle to bring home two more runs and keep runners at the corners. Errol Robinson delivered a single to left to score a sixth run and send the Hatters to the bullpen for right-handed freshman Mitchell Jordan. Jordan coaxed a pop up to left for the final out, but the Rebels held a 6-0 lead after the top half of the third. Sikes Orvis added to the Rebels lead in the seventh inning, opening the frame with a solo shot to left field to give Ole Miss a 7-0 lead on the Hatters. Melching Stadium For the second straight day the Rebels bats came alive early and the pitching staff turned in another dominant performance as Ole Miss (2-0) defeated Stetson (0-2) by a score of 11-1 to claim the weekend series and set up the chance for a sweep on Sunday. Christian Trent (1-0) led another solid outing by Rebel pitchers, working 6.0 innings and allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts. Trent did not walk a batter and worked a perfect 3.2 innings before Stetson would get its first base runner of the game with a hit batter. Austin Perez (0-1) suffered the loss for the Hatters, allowing five runs on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. Four of the five runs were earned against Perez. Austin Anderson led the Rebels at the plate, going 4-for-6 with three runs scored on the afternoon as the Ole Miss offense pounded out 11 runs on 18 hits. Fellow senior Will Allenwent 2-for-3 with five RBI and a run scored while adding a walk. The Rebels again got off to a quick start in game two of the series when Will Allen launched a three-run shot over the wall in left center to put Ole Miss on the board. Singles from Braxton Lee and Austin Anderson put two men on base with one out before Allen launched his shot over the wall to give the Rebels the 3-0 advantage out of the gates. Stetson got on the board in the fourth inning with a two-out rally. Patrick Mazeika was hit by a pitch to put a man on base before Josh Powers delivered a double to the wall in left center that brought Mazeika home and cut the lead to 3-1. Trent then got a groundout from the next batter to end the inning and squash the rally. Ole Miss answered in the top of the fifth, capitalizing on a Stetson miscue after applying pressure on the base path. WithAuston Bousfield and Anderson on base following a walk and a single, the two runners executed a double steal to get into scoring position. The Hatters catcher threw to second, but the throw tailed wide of the bag allowing Bousfield to come home and score while Anderson moved to third. A single to left from Preston Overbey two batters later brought Anderson home and gave the Rebels a 5-1 lead. Stetson then turned to the bullpen for right-hander Josh Thorne with two outs on the board. The junior struck out the next Rebel batter to end the inning, but Ole miss held the four-run lead. Will Jamison extended the lead with a solo shot to right field to open the sixth inning. Errol Robinson was hit in the head with the next pitch, prompting Stetson s Thorne to be removed from the game as Robinson took his base and went to first. Robinson was thrown out on a fielder s choice from Braxton Lee, but Bousfield delivered a double through the right side on a perfectly executed hit-and-run to bring Lee home a batter later to take the lead to 7-1. A single to left from Anderson put two men on before another double steal advanced both Bousfield and Anderson to scoring position. Allen then delivered a double to right to bring both runners home as the Rebels lead grew to 9-1. Three consecutive singles from Austin Knight, Dalton Dulin and John Gatlin in the eighth brought another run home and the Rebels took the lead out to 10-1 on the Hatters. Ole Miss continued to build on the lead in the ninth inning when Brantley Bell scored on a fielding error at first off a ground ball from Anderson. Bell opened the inning with a single before moving to second on a walk of Woodman. Anderson then hit the ball down the first base line that went through the legs of the fielder, allowing Bell to score from second and Woodman to move from first to third. Melching Stadium Will Allen continued his hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBI to help pace the Ole Miss offense in the sweep-clinching win. Smith (1-0) worked 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits with three walks and two strikeouts in the start. Three other pitchers saw action for the Rebels with Matt Denny,Cheyne Bickel and Aaron Greenwood all taking the mound down the stretch to close things out. Overbey Josh Powers (0-1) took the loss for Stetson, giving up three runs on nine hits with three strikeouts. Two of the three runs were earned against Powers in his 5.0 innings of work. Stetson got an opportunity in the second inning when a single and a two-out double put two men in scoring position for the Hatters. Smith coaxed a ground ball to short out of the next batter, ending the rally attempt for the home team and keeping things scoreless. The Rebels responded in the third, pushing two runs across the plate to get on the board and take the lead for the third straight day. Stetson hit Braxton Lee with a pitch before Auston Bousfield lay down a bunt single to put two men on base. A sac bunt from Austin Anderson pushed them both into scoring position before back-to-back singles from Will Allen andsikes Orvis brought them home. The Hatters looked to answer in the home half of the inning, sandwiching a single between a pair of walks to load the bases out of the gates. Smith responded on the mound, striking out the next batter and getting a double play ball on a grounder to second to squelch the rally and keep Ole Miss in front 2-0. The Rebels extended the lead in the fifth inning when Allen hit a sac fly to center to score Bousfield from third. Bousfield opened the inning with a fly ball to left that was dropped by the fielder, allowing him to go to second. A ground ball to first from Anderson moved Bousfield to third before the Allen fly ball brought him home and put Ole Miss up 3-0. Overbey took the lead out to four runs with a leadoff home run to open the sixth inning. He then came back and opened the eighth inning with his second home run of the afternoon to take the Rebel lead out to 5-0. Stetson got things going in the bottom of the eighth, using a walk and a double to the wall in right field to put two men in scoring position. Patrick Mazeika then hit a ground ball to first and the Rebels traded the out for a run as the Hatters got on the board. Kurt Schluter then delivered a sacrifice fly to right field to bring a second run home and cut the lead to 5-2 in favor of the Rebels. A triple to the wall in right from Bousfield put a man on with one out in the ninth before a wild pitch brought the junior outfielder home. Anderson then singled up the middle before Allen hit a two-run shot to center field to take the lead out to 8-2. The Hatters looked to mount a second rally in the bottom of the ninth, but after the first two batters reached base, Greenwood and the defense shut things down from there to give the Rebels the win and the series sweep. 11 Ole Miss 6, UT-Martin 0 Feb. 19, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Waguespack Jacob Waguespack led a group of six pitchers Wednesday night while the Rebels scored efficiently on seven hits and Ole Miss (4-0) picked up a 6-0 victory over Tennessee-Martin (0-4) in the home opener at Swayze Field. Waguespack (1-0) gave up two hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work, but got the win in a predetermined start for the Rebels as a bevy of pitchers saw action against the Skyhawks. Five other hurlers made their season debuts in the game, including Preston Tarkington, Evan Anderson, Austin Blunt, Scott Weathersby and Jeremy Massie. Alex Boshers (0-1) took the loss for UT-Martin as he allowed only one run on two hits through 4.0 innings of work, but the Skyhawks were held off the board by the Rebel pitching staff and defense. It s nice to win, but at this point we didn t play very well, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. We certainly didn t play anywhere close to the way we did this past weekend. We looked a little nervous. One of the things we worried about at the beginning of the season, and we challenged the guys about, was to not play like we did tonight. This past weekend we swung freely and looked aggressive on the mound, Bianco said. Today, we looked a little more tentative at the plate. Some guys still looked great. Will Allen is just on fire and continues to swing. Preston Overbey had several good at-bats. On the mound, we weren t super sharp either. The Rebels got on the board in the third inning when Dalton Dulin took advantage of a wild pitch with the bases loaded to sprint home. Dulin started the rally with a two-out single before a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases. Ole Miss added to the lead in the seventh inning, again taking advantage of a Skyhawk miscue to push the lead out to 2-0. Braxton Lee opened the inning with a single and a steal before a bunt down the third base line from Auston Bousfield put runners at the corners. A walk loaded the bases before a balk would bring Lee home to take the Rebel advantage out to two runs. The Rebels broke things open in the eighth inning, pushing four runs across the plate and successfully stealing five bases as a part of the late rally by the fastest part of the Ole Miss lineup. Dulin, Lee, Bousfield and Will Allen all drove in runs during the inning that saw eight men come to the plate. Ole Miss led 6-0 after the big eighth inning and then shut things down once more in the ninth to pick up the win. Ole Miss 3, Georgia State 0 Feb. 21, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Ellis Junior right-hander Chris Ellis pitched a completegame shutout on Friday, striking out five without allowing a walk as he led Ole Miss (5-0) to a 3-0 victory over Georgia State (3-2) at Swayze Field to kick off the weekend series. Ellis (2-0) turned in his second shutout of the season and the first complete-game of his career in the outing. It marks the first complete-game shutout for Ole Miss since Bobby Wahl turned in a complete-game shutout of Tennessee in the series opener on April 19, Nathan Bates (0-1) took the loss for the Panthers as he allowed three runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work. Chris (Ellis) was terrific, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. In 13-plus years, I haven t seen too many complete games shutouts here. Tonight he was excellent. He had three pitches in the strike zone. That s a very good offense. Georgia State was ranked in the top five in runs scored. They got good swings off tonight, even as good as Chris was on the mound. The Rebels took a two-run lead in the second inning on the way to the 3-0 victory. Sikes Orvis and Preston Overbey opened up the second inning with back-to-back singles before J.B. Woodman would bunt both men into scoring position with a ball down the third base line. Will Jamison then delivered a line drive to right field, bringing Orvis home and sending Overbey to third. Jamison tried to reach second on the play, causing the Panthers to throw to second in an attempt to throw out the speedy outfielder, and Overbey took advantage of the situation to race home and give the Rebels a 2-0 lead. The Rebels extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning when Braxton Lee drew a bases-loaded walk to push Overbey home. Ole Miss loaded the bases with a single from Overbey, a single from Woodman and Errol Robinson was hit by a pitch to set up the scoring play for Lee. The Rebel defense and Ellis did the job from there, holding the Panthers offense in check throughout the game on the way to the victory. It marks the third shutout in the first five games for the Rebels and second straight as Ole Miss also defeated Tennessee-Martin 6-0 on Wednesday night. Ole Miss 9, Georgia State 1 Feb. 22, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Christian Trent held the Georgia State (3-3) offense in check until the Rebel bats could heat up and explode for a pair of big innings as Ole Miss (6-0) defeated the Panthers by a score of 6-0 to claim the weekend series on Saturday. Auston Bousfield and Sikes Orvis led the Rebel offense in two explosive middle innings. Bousfield went 3-for-6 on the afternoon with a home run and four RBI, Trent while Orvis went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Trent (2-0) worked 7.0 innings and allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts. It marked the second straight outing for Trent to not allow a walk this season. He was one of two pitchers to work on the afternoon as Josh Laxer closed out the final 2.0 innings with a walk, three strikeouts and one hit allowed. Andrew Fessler (0-1) took the loss for Georgia State, allowing four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Christian (Trent) was terrific, Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said. He pitched very similar to how Chris (Ellis) did last night. Just a great mix of three pitches and it really kept them off balance. He was super dominant. It was a great performance and another great defensive game. (Josh) Laxer was tremendous. He pitched as well as he ever has here. He was really dominant today. Georgia State got on the board first, using a double from Nic Wilson to open the second inning. A sac bunt from Chase Raffield moved Wilson to third, setting up the score on a single from Chris Triplett to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead. It marked the first time all season that the Rebels trailed in a game. Ole Miss erased the deficit in the fifth inning, using a solo shot from Bousfield to open the inning and tie the game. Four batters later, Orvis delivered a three-run shot to right center to catapult the Rebels out to a 4-1 lead and Ole Miss never looked back. The Rebels would bat around in the frame, getting a bases-loaded single from Bousfield later in the inning to cap a five-run inning. Ole Miss wasn t done, however, putting together a four-run sixth inning to take the lead out to 9-1. A Will Allen single and an RBI triple from Preston Overbey started the scoring in the sixth. Overbey then came home on a single to right from Orvis and the Panthers turned to the bullpen for left-hander Wayne Wages. Ole Miss would go on to load the bases again before Bousfield would deliver a two-rbi single to right and drive the lead out to eight runs. That margin would hold for the final score as Ole Miss pitchers and defense shut the Panthers out down the stretch to pick up the series-clinching win. 12 Georgia State 6, Ole Miss 4 Feb. 23, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Allen For the first time this season the Rebels tasted defeat as Ole Miss (6-1) mounted one rally, but couldn t put together a second and fell to Georgia State (4-3) by a score of 6-4 in the series finale on Sunday. The Rebels missed out on a second consecutive series sweep this season after picking up wins in the first two games by scores of 3-0 and 9-1. It was tough on all the pitchers today, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. They are very good offensively, and it was just a tough day to pitch. Sam (Smith) really battled, but they got a lot of good swings off today throughout the game. Sam gave us a chance to win just like he always does on Sunday, leaving the game with the lead. I m proud of him for hanging in there, but it just wasn t our day. Freshman reliever Cheyne Bickel (0-1) took the loss for the Rebels, surrendering a two-run home run in the seventh inning as he allowed the two runs on two hits with a strikeout in 1.0 inning of work. Georgia State starter Matt Rose (1-0) picked up the win as he worked a complete game, allowing four runs on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts. The Panthers got out to the quick lead, scoring two runs in the first inning to mark the second straight day the visiting team would score first. Georgia State got back-to-back singles to open the game and put runners at the corners. The Rebels got back-to-back strikeouts, but on the second one, the Panthers executed a double steal and Chad Prain slid in safely at home to get on the board. Chase Raffield then delivered an RBI double to right field to bring home the second run before Ole Miss would get out of the inning. The Rebels answered in the bottom half of the inning, using a two-rbi double from Will Allen to tie the game. Braxton Lee and Austin Anderson scored on the play after the two batters reached when Lee was hit by a pitch and Anderson drew a walk. The Allen hit tied the game at 2-2. Ole Miss moved into the lead in the second inning when Will Jamison drove in Colby Bortles. Bortles opened the inning with a triple to the wall in left center, setting up the score on the Jamison hit through the right side. Georgia State tied the game in the fifth on a triple from Chris Triplett that brought Ryan Blanton home. Blanton reached on a single before a sac bunt and a ground ball to second moved him to third as the Panthers executed a game of station to station baseball. Errol Robinson would score in the home half of the fifth to move Ole Miss back in front for the second time on the afternoon. Robinson opened the inning on a single to right and took second on a ground ball to first. He then scored on a two-out single through the right side from Anderson to put the Rebels up 4-3. It would be the last lead of the day for Ole Miss as Georgia State got a tworun home run in the seventh from Triplett to go back on top. A solo shot from Blanton took the lead out to two runs in the eighth and the score held from there as the Rebels fell 6-4. Lee The bullpen came in and held the Warhawks down over the last five innings to allow the home team to rally as No. 24 Ole Miss (7-1) downed ULM (4-4) by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday afternoon at Swayze Field. With the bases loaded in the ninth inning and two outs on the board, junior outfielder Braxton Lee hit a chopper to short and motored safely down the first base line as Holt Perdzock crossed home plate to complete a dramatic ninth-inning rally. Trailing by two runs entering the inning, the Rebels and Warhawks started a chess match of pinch hitters and pitching changes as both teams fought for the win. The Rebels got three consecutive batters on base with a walk, a single to right and a hit batter. Dalton Dulin brought the tying run home with a ground ball to short, reaching as the Warhawks went to second with the play to erase Errol Robinson from the base path. The play allowed pinch-running Will Jamison to score and knot the game at four. Lee then delivered his chopper to short, scoring Perdzock as the Rebels picked up the come-from-behind win. At the end, it was all of the at-bats starting with (Colby) Bortles, a freshman off the bench, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. He fouls balls off and gets a 3-2 walk and gets to first. Then Holt (Perdzock) has another great at-bat and drops one in. Errol (Robinson) comes up with another great at-bat. He s at 2-2 and takes a breaking ball in the back. Then the speed took over, Bianco said. You have Dalton (Dulin), who hits a ball. It looks somewhat like a routine double-play ball. He runs a great 90 (feet) to first and beats it out and we tie the game up. Then Braxton (Lee) at the end, when he chopped that ball, you knew he was going to have a play. He was too good down the base path. Wyatt Short (1-0) picked up the win in relief, working the final 0.2 innings and getting the Rebels out of a potential jam after entering the game with one out and a man on second. Short was the third Rebel out of the bullpen to hold ULM in check as Matt Denny worked 3.0 scoreless innings and allowed one hit. Preston Tarkington then worked 1.1 innings without allowing a hit and only one base runner on a fielding error to open the ninth. Reliever Tyler Bray (1-1) suffered the loss for the Warhawks, working the final 0.1 of an inning. He entered the game with ULM leading 4-3, one out and a runner on first. Ole Miss got on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run from Auston Bousfield. Lee opened the home half of the first with a walk before Bousfield sent the pitch back over the wall in left center to put the Rebels on top 2-0. Allen Will Allen came up with a bases-loaded single with two outs in the ninth to push Ole Miss (8-1) to a 4-3 walk-off win over ULM (4-5) Wednesday night at Swayze Field. With the bases loaded following a lead-off single from Brantley Bell and intentional walks of Auston Bousfield and Austin Anderson, Allen came to the plate to face reliever Tyler Bray who had just been brought into the game. Allen took the first pitch and sent it through the left side to score Bell and give the Rebels a come-from-behind win in the ninth. Cheyne Bickel (1-1) picked up the win in relief, working the final 2.1 innings and holding the Warhawks off the board while striking out one batter and not allowing a walk. Starter Jeremy Massie worked 5.0 no-hit, scoreless innings in his first start as a Rebel. Carey Taylor (0-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings of relief. He put the winning run on base in the ninth after giving up the tying run in the eighth. It was a tough day to play baseball, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. I m proud of the way we played. Jeremy Massie was outstanding. All the pitchers were outstanding, except for (Evan) Anderson s tough inning. Laxer came in and made it look easy with the inning. (Cheyne) Bickel was terrific after giving up the homer this weekend. He came back and looked tremendous. Ole Miss got off to a quick start, scoring in the first when Braxton Lee scored from second on a ground ball to short from Bousfield. Lee reached on a walk, stole second and took third on a throwing error to second on the steal to set up the score. The Rebels got a second run in the fourth when Lee delivered an RBI double to bring Colby Bortles home from first. Bortles singled to open the inning and took second on a passed ball before scoring on the Lee hit to give Ole Miss the 2-0 lead. ULM answered in the seventh, taking advantage of several Rebel miscues to push three runs across the plate. The Warhawks got things started with a single and a walk. Justin Stawychny then lay down a sac bunt down the third base line, but a throwing error allowed him to reach safely and a run to score. The play pushed two men into scoring position following the run. A wild pitch brought a second run home and advanced Stawychny to third before a Vincent Dellecono double scored Stawychny and gave the Warhawks the 3-2 lead after the top of the seventh. Ole Miss answered in the eighth, tying the game on a Bortles groundout that brought pinch runner Cameron Dishon home from third. Dishon entered the game to run following a one-out single from Sikes Orvis. Preston Overbey then doubled to push Dishon to third and set up the score on the Bortles ground ball. The Rebels then completed the rally in the ninth with the bases-loaded hit from Allen. Game 9 ULM 3 (4-5) Anthony Herrera,2b T. Hebert, ph/2b Jeff Fuller, ss K. 13 Ole Miss 4, UCF 3 (13 Innings) Feb. 28, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Gatlin OXFORD, Miss. For the third straight game the Rebels rallied for a walk-off win, this time in 13 innings as No. 24 Ole Miss (9-1) defeated UCF (6-3) by a score of 4-3 at Swayze Field on Friday night. The big hit was a long time coming in the game that spanned more than four hours, but an even longer time coming for senior John Gatlin, who missed the 2013 season with injury and came back for his fifth season this year. With runners at the corners and two outs, Gatlin laced a ball to third and beat the throw to first, allowing Kyle Toth to score the winning run and give the Rebels the series-opening win. Cheyne Bickel (2-1) picked up the win as he worked the final 1.0 inning with two hits and two strikeouts. He was the last of seven pitchers to see action on the night. Starter Chris Ellis continued to pitch well for the third straight weekend, allowing one unearned run on one hit with four walks and five strikeouts through 7.0 innings of work in the start. Through three starts, Ellis has yet to allow an earned run with the only run allowed coming in the game against the Knights. Parker Thomas (1-2) suffered the loss in relief, working the final 2.0 inning and allowing the one run on two hits with two walks and a strikeout. Skoglund, the Knights starter, worked 7.2 innings and allowed three runs two earned on six hits with two strikeouts. UCF got on the board first, plating a run in the fourth inning when Derrick Salberg scored on a sac fly from Eric Barber. Salberg reached on a fielding error at second, one of two on the night by the Rebels, before a walk and a sac bunt pushed him to third before the Barber fly ball. The Rebels answered in the bottom of the fifth when Will Allen scored on a groundout from Sikes Orvis. Allen doubled to open the inning and took third on a groundout from Preston Overbey to set up the score on the Orvis ball to second. The Knights moved out to a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning, taking advantage of a balk and wild pitch to set up the two-run inning and grab the lead back. Ole Miss once again had an answer, capitalizing on a balk and a fielding error to push two runs home and tie the game at three. Brantley Bell reached on a single and took second on a balk. He then scored on a double to right from Errol Robinson to cut the lead to one. Robinson moved to third on a groundout from Braxton Lee before scoring a batter later when a fielding error at third by the Knights allowed Robinson to score and knot the game. The pitching and defense continued to work out of jams through the next four innings with the Rebels leaving five men stranded and the Knights stranding nine of their own until the home half of the 13th inning. Ole Miss then got things started when Allen was hit by a pitch to open the frame. Toth entered to run for him at first and took second on a sac bunt from Overbey. A groundout from Henri Lartigue moved Toth to third and set up the win on the Gatlin hit. For the second straight day the Rebels went into extra innings and for the second consecutive game a senior delivered the big hit as Will Allen s solo home run in the 10th inning gave No. 24 Ole Miss (10-1) a 5-4 win over UCF (6-4) Saturday afternoon. The walk-off win was the fourth straight for the Rebels who have won four one-run games this week. It marked the second game-winning hit for Allen this week, who also delivered the game-winning, RBI single in the ninth against ULM Wednesday night. Wyatt Short (2-0) picked up the win in relief for the Rebels, working the final 2.0 innings without allowing a hit and striking out three batters. Short entered the game in the ninth with a man on base and no outs. He promptly got a strikeout and a double play to end the inning. The freshman left-hander then retired the side in the 10th with a pair of strikeouts and a fly out to give the Rebels the chance to rally. Trent Thompson (0-1) suffered the loss in relief for the Knights, allowing the one run on the solo shot from Allen to open the 10th inning. Thompson worked the final 2.0 innings for UCF. The Knights got on the board first, pushing a run home in the first inning on an RBI single from Erik Barber. Derrick Salberg reached on a one-out single and a hit batter moved him to second. He then scored two batters later on the two-out single from Barber to give UCF the 1-0 lead. A two-run home run in the fifth inning from Tommy Williams took the Knights lead out to 3-0 on the Rebels, marking the largest deficit of the season for an Ole Miss squad. Salberg scored on the Williams home run after reaching on a single in the previous at bat. Ole Miss answered in the home half of the inning, using a four-run fifth inning to take the lead on UCF. Back-to-back singles from Braxton Lee and Auston Bousfield opened the fifth inning for Ole Miss before a third consecutive single from Austin Anderson brought Lee home. Allen then hit a two-rbi double to the wall in right center to drive in Bousfield and Anderson, pushing the Rebels in front 4-3 after five innings of play. The Knights tied things back up in the eighth inning when Salberg reached base for the third time on the afternoon, opening the frame with a single. A hit batter and a wild pitch moved him to third before the UCF centerfielder would score on a groundout to first from James Vasquez. Ole Miss would turn to the bullpen for right-hander Preston Tarkington who got the Rebels out of the inning after relieving starter Christian Trent. Trent worked 7.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. The left-hander has still not allowed a walk through 20.1 innings of work this season. There would be no need for extrainning heroics on Sunday as the Rebels used a four-run first inning to propel No. 24 Ole Miss (11-1) to a 9-2 victory over UCF (6-5) and a sweep of the weekend series. Sam Smith (2-0) picked up the win for the Rebels, working 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. He was one of four pitchers on the afternoon for Ole Miss. Robby Howell (0-1) took the loss for UCF, allowing seven runs on six hits with two walks and a strikeout in 3.1 innings of work. UCF looked to score first for the third straight game, loading the bases with one out in the first inning. Smith buckled down after giving up two of his four hits on the day and struck out the next two batters looking and get the Rebels out of the inning with no damage. Ole Miss then answered in the home half of the first, pushing four runs home and taking the game firmly in hand. Back-to-back singles and a hit batter loaded the bases before a sac fly from Will Allen got the first run home and left men at the corners. A wild pitch scored the second run. A walk put Sikes Orvis on base, keeping the rally going as Preston Overbey and Colby Bortles each delivered an RBI before the Knights would get out of the inning. The Rebels would put another crooked number on the board in the fourth, bringing three runs home with RBI singles from Braxton Lee and Auston Bousfield before a sac fly from Austin Anderson took the Rebel lead out to 7-0. Orvis scored again in the fifth inning, reaching when he was hit by a pitch to open the frame before moving around the bases to score on three wild pitches. The junior went hitless on the day, but reached base four times with three walks and the hit by pitch. The Rebels capped the scoring for the home team in the sixth inning when pinch hitting Henri Lartigue delivered a sac fly to center to move Ole Miss on top 9-0. UCF got on the board in the ninth, loading the bases with one out before an RBI single from Dylan Moore and a sac fly from JoMarcus Woods pushed two runs home. 14 Memphis 4, Ole Miss 1 March 5, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Bousfield Auston Bousfield finished a home run shy of the cycle and scored a run, but the Rebels were unable to get runners home most of the night as No. 15 Ole Miss (11-2) fell to Memphis (11-1) by a score of 4-1. Bousfield scored the Rebels only run on the night and Ole Miss left 11 men stranded despite tallying nine hits. The junior went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, single and double in that order. Jeremy Massie (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts through 4.1 innings of work. He was one of four pitchers on the night for the Rebels. Aaron Greenwood and Preston Tarkington worked the final 3.2 innings without allowing a run, while surrendering only two hits and a walk. Caleb Wallingford (3-0) picked up the win, working 6.0 scoreless innings and allowing eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Nolan Blackwood picked up his third save of the season. They were terrific defensively, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. That was the difference in the ballgame. We had so many runners on but got nothing to show for it. When they needed a great play they made it. I don t think it was a poor performance offensively. It wasn t like we didn t get hits or good swings off. We needed them to not make so many great plays or us to hit a ball in a gap where they couldn t make a play. Memphis got on the board in the first inning when a double and a walk put two men on before a double steal moved both men into scoring position. Drew Griffin then hit a two-out single to drive in both men and put the Tigers on top 2-0 in the first. The visitors from Memphis added to the lead in the fifth inning when Carter White scored from third on a ground ball from Darien Tubbs. The Tigers then brought a fourth run home in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from White with the bases loaded to take the lead out to 4-0. Ole Miss got on the board in the seventh when Bousfield scored on a sacrifice fly to center from Will Allen. Bousfield reached on a double before taking third on a groundout to first from Austin Anderson and set up the score on the Allen fly ball. The Rebels could get no closer as Memphis grabbed the win in the midweek tilt. Ole Miss 2, UALR 1 March 7, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Bell For the fifth time in the last seven games, the Rebels got a little walk-off magic as No. 15 Ole Miss (12-2) rallied for a 2-1 win over UALR (8-2) in 10 innings on Friday night. Freshman Brantley Bell delivered the game-winning hit with two outs, taking an 0-2 pitch with the bases loaded and driving it into the gap in right center to bring home Austin Anderson for the Rebel win. Bell also scored the game-tying run in the ninth inning to keep the Rebels chances for a rally alive. Josh Laxer (1-0) picked up the win in relief, working the final 4.0 innings with seven strikeouts and allowed one run on one hit without walking a batter. Starter Chris Ellis worked 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out seven batters of his own with two hits and four walks. Ellis has not allowed an earned run through four starts this season. Jesse Harbin (2-1) took the loss for the Trojans, working 3.0 innings and allowing two runs on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Travis McDonald worked 6.1 scoreless innings in the start, allowing three hits with two walks and six strikeouts. No offense deserved to win tonight, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. Both defenses deserved to win, but neither offense deserved to win that game. It would have been a tough one to swallow had we lost 1-0 on an unearned run as well as Chris (Ellis) and Josh (Laxer) pitched at the end. It was a tough one for them, obviously. Our guys hung in there and kept it close. Once it got to that point, we had some good at-bats. The two pitchers and defenses held things in check through the first six innings of play, squelching rally attempts and keeping runners off the bases. That changed in the seventh when UALR broke through, taking advantage of an Ole Miss error to bring a run home with two outs on the board. Mitchell Scheuler opened the inning with a single before back-to-back sac bunts moved the right fielder to third base. With two outs, a throwing error on a ground ball to short allowed Scheuler to score as UALR leadoff hitter Ben Crumpton reached base safely, keeping the inning alive and giving the visiting team a 1-0 lead. OIe Miss answered in the ninth, taking advantage of a fielding error in left field to tie the game and send things into extra frames. Bell delivered a one-out single through the left side and advanced to second on the play as pinch runner Cameron Dishon, who was on second for the at bat, was thrown out at the plate. Pinch hitter Henri Lartigue then sent a fly ball into left field that was dropped as the left and center fielders collided, allowing Bell to score from second and knot the game at one. The Rebels then claimed the win in the 10th inning on the Bell hit to give Ole Miss the victory in the series opener against the Trojans. The came to the plate for the game-winning hit with the bases loaded thanks to an double from Anderson, an intentional walk of Will Allen and Dalton Dulin being hit by a pitch. Ole Miss 11, UALR 5 March 8, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Greenwood The Rebels used a big first inning that featured a fiverun, two-out rally to jump out of the gates and never looked back as No. 15 Ole Miss (13-2) defeated UALR (8-4) by a score of 11-5 on Saturday to claim the weekend series. The bottom of the lineup provided the pop for Ole Miss, going a combined 7-for-13 among starters with nine RBI. Preston Overbey led the way, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Aaron Greenwood (1-0) picked up the win in relief, entering the game in the fifth inning to replace starter Christian Trent. Greenwood worked 1.1 innings, allowing only two hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Trent worked 4.2 innings, allowing five runs on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts. It s the first walk for Trent in 24.0 innings of work this season. Ethan Schlechte (1-1) took the loss for UALR, allowing six runs on eight hits with two walks through 1.2 innings of work in the start. Ole Miss broke things open in the first inning with a two-out rally that started with a single and a double from Austin Anderson and Will Allen, respectively. Sikes Orvis walked to load the bases before Overbey then delivered a two-rbi double to left center. Brantley Bell followed it up with a two-rbi single before Errol Robinson would notch an RBI single to right to cap the scoring and give the Rebels a 5-0 lead after the first inning of play. A sixth run came home in the second inning when Overbey delivered an RBI single with two outs, bringing home Anderson and giving Ole Miss the 6-0 lead. UALR responded with a four-run fourth inning, using an RBI-single from Justin Steelmon and a three-run home run from Bryson Thionnet to cut the lead to 6-4. Ole Miss pushed it back out to 7-4 in the home half of the inning with an RBIdouble to right center from Will Allen that pushed Anderson across the plate for the third time on the afternoon. Again, UALR had an answer when Ben Crumpton scored on a double from Tanner Rockwell. Crumpton was hit by a pitch before a sac bunt moved him into scoring position for the Rockwell it. The lead stood at 7-5 for the Rebels at the middle of the fifth. Will Jamison then hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead back out to 8-5. Ole Miss extended its lead in the seventh with a three-run inning thanks to RBI from Jamison, Robinson and Braxton Lee. With two men on, Jamison delivered a single through the right side to bring home the first run in Overbey while Bell moved to third. Robinson then lay down a bunt down the first base line, bringing home Bell on the sacrifice play. Lee then hit a ball deep to short, bringing home Jamison from second while Lee beat out the throw to first for the third run in the inning. The lead stood at 11-5 at the end of the seventh and would hold as Hawtin Buchanan and Austin Blunt kept the Trojans off the bases through the final two innings. 15 Ole Miss 11, UALR 1 March 9, 2014 Oxford, Miss. Bousfield The Rebel offense continued to click on Sunday with 11 runs on 14 hits as No. 15 Ole Miss (14-2) defeated UALR (8-5) by a score of 11-1 to sweep the weekend series with the Trojans. Four Rebels posted multiple-hit games on the afternoon, paced by Auston Bousfield s 2-for-4 outing as the centerfielder scored a run and drove in two. Sam Smith (3-0) picked up the win for the Rebels, working 6.0 innings and allowing one run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. He was one of four Rebels to take the mound on the afternoon as Ole Miss limited opportunities for UALR for the third straight day. Cameron Allen (1-1) took the loss for the Trojans, allowing four runs three of them earned on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Allen worked 4.2 innings in the start. I was disappointed (offensively), then in the fifth inning we scored, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. One of the things we challenge the pitchers when we re winning is to keep the momentum in our dugout and have a shutdown inning. You have to put up a zero after we score. In today s game, where there is not as many runs scored, it s even more important to keep the momentum in your dugout. We did that today. The Rebels got on the board in the fourth inning when the Rebels took advantage of a fielding error following a Sikes Orvis hit to get on the board. Allen reached on a walk before Orvis delivered a hit to right field. The ball dropped in front of the right fielder who then misplayed the field attempt, allowing the ball to get past him and roll toward the fence. Allen scored from first on the play to put the Rebels on top 1-0. UALR answered in the top of the fifth, scoring when Mitchell Scheuler came home on a bases loaded groundout from Ben Crumpton. The run tied the game 1-1. Ole Miss broke things open in the home half of the fifth, putting the first of three multiple-run innings together as three runs crossed the plate. J.B. Woodman opened the inning with a single and took second on a sac bunt from Errol Robinson. A groundout moved him to third and then the two-out rally began. Auston Bousfield delivered an RBI single to right and stole second. Austin Anderson then doubled to bring home Bousfield before Allen capped the scoring with a single through the left side. The Rebels led 4-1 at the end of the fifth. The sixth inning saw two more runs score for the Rebels as Braxton Lee draw a bases-loaded walk and Bousfield came up with a sac fly to center. The two runs pushed the lead out to 6-1 in favor of Ole Miss before the Trojans would get out of the inning. Four more runs came home in the seventh. A Brantley Bell double brought the first run home before a ground ball back to the mound from Woodman would push a second run across the plate. Bell then came home on a wild pitch before a sac fly to left from Robinson took the lead out to The Rebels got the final run of the game in the eighth when John Gatlin delivered a sac fly to the wall in left center that scored Bousfield. Bousfield opened the inning with a walk before a Dalton Dulin single and a fielder s choice from Austin Knight took him to third. Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field Orvis The Rebels continued to get solid pitching and clutch hits in tight games, this time it was a solo home run from Sikes Orvis, as No.12 Ole Miss (15-2) defeated Southeastern Louisiana (9-6) by a score of 2-1 Tuesday night. Orvis delivered his solo shot in the sixth inning to propel the Rebels to the win after falling behind early. Jeremy Massie (1-1) was solid in the start, working 6.0 innings and allowing one run on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts to pick up the win. Wyatt Short picked up his first save of the season, working the final 1.2 innings as the Rebels picked up the 2-1 win. Sean Kennel (1-2) took the loss for the Lions, allowing two runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Jeremy (Massie) was tremendous for us and really just continued to pitch like he has all year, said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. It s a little too close sometimes and we ve had our share of (one-run games). In those, we ve played well when it mattered the most. But I m disappointed we didn t do more offensively. We had a couple of opportunities to break the game open and we didn t get the timely hit. Southeastern Louisiana got things started in the third inning with a pair of singles around a stolen base that put men at the corners out of the gates. A fielder s choice on a ball back up the middle from Jacob Seward brought Brooks Morse home and put the first run on the board. Ole Miss answered in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with no outs when a hit batter and back-to-back singles put Austin Anderson, Will Allen and Sikes Orvis on base. Preston Overbey then singled to left to score Anderson and tie the game at 1-1. The Rebels would get nothing more out of the inning with a force out at home on a ground ball and a double play ball up the middle to end the inning. Sikes Orvis put the Rebels on top in the sixth inning with a solo shot down the right field line to give Ole Miss the 2-1 lead. The Lions got another opportunity in the eighth inning, getting two men on with one out and sending the Rebels to the bullpen as the freshman, Short, relieved Josh Laxer. A groundout to second moved both men into scoring position with two outs before Short would get another groundout - this one to first base to end the inning and keep Ole Miss in front 2-1. Southeastern Louisiana looked to mount a rally in the bottom of the ninth, putting a man on with a leadoff single. The defense came through, however, turning a double play on a bunt as Austin Knight threw to second to get the lead runner and Errol Robinson made the throw to first to clear the bases of runners. After issuing a walk, Short then fought back from a 3-1 count to strikeout the final batter to secure the win for the Rebels. Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field Bickel The Rebels found themselves in the middle of another tight contest, but a big ninth inning broke things open as No. 12 Ole Miss (16-2) pushed four runs across the plate in the final inning to defeat Southeastern Louisiana (9-7) by a score of 8-3 Wednesday. Brantley Bell led a Rebel offense that tallied 16 hits on the afternoon, going 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI and five Ole Miss players tallied double-digit hits. Cheyne Bickel (3-1) picked up the win in relief, working 2.0 innings and allowing only one hit and a strikeout. Freshman Evan Anderson was solid in the start, working 3.0 no-hit innings with three strikeouts and facing only nine batters. Five Rebel pitchers saw action on the afternoon. The Rebels got things started in the third inning with back-to-back singles from Errol Robinson and Auston Bousfield. With men at the corners, Braxton Lee hit a ground ball to second, reaching on a fielder s choice as Robinson scored. An errant throw allowed Bousfield to reach safely and scamper to third as the ball rolled into left. Bousfield then scored a batter later when Austin Anderson lay down a sac bunt and the Rebels took a 2-0 lead on the Lions. Ole Miss put together a two-out rally in the fourth when three straight single from Brantley Bell, Will Jamison and Errol Robinson loaded the bases. Bousfield was then hit by a pitch to bring Bell home and take the Rebel lead out to 3-0 before the Lions would get out of the inning. Southeastern Louisiana got on the board in the home half of the fourth, loading the bases with one out as the first four batters all reached base through a trio of singles and a walk. A ground ball to third looked to be a double play ball, but a throwing error allowed two runs to score and kept the Lions alive after cutting the lead to 3-2. Another single sent the Rebels to the bullpen for a second time in the inning, but a four pitch walk loaded the bases again for Southeastern Louisiana. Waguespack came through in the clutch, striking out the next batter to end the inning and keep the Rebels up by one. The Lions continued to chip away, using a two-out rally in the fifth to tie the game. With men at first and second, Andrew Gobold hit a single to right and scored Jacob Williams. The Rebels were able to get out of the inning, however, with no more damage and the score knotted at three. The Rebels moved back into the lead in the seventh on a groundball to short from Will Allen that brought Bousfield home from third. Bousfield reached when he was hit by a pitch to open the inning and took second on a groundout from Lee. A single from Anderson put men at the corners to set up the score on the ground ball from Allen that put the Rebels back up 4-3. Ole Miss broke things open in the top of the ninth, using four hits and three errors by the home team to build a five-run cushion for the final frame. The Rebels led 8-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Weathersby then held the Lions off the board in the bottom of the ninth to close out the game.
