Officers and representatives of member organizations are asked to sign in before the meeting, and guests are always welcome. Meetings begin at 7:30 PM - many arrive early for dinner. Omaha meetings are held at the Tangier Shrine Center, 2823 South 84 th Street. Lincoln meetings are held at the Pizza Ranch, 8420 Lexington Avenue. Ron Gillis asked for a nomination for their acceptance into the Car Council. Motion to approve by Chuck Garber and motion seconded by Gene Gau. Motion approved. Welcome Wolf Pack Car Club! Miles Rasmussen and Jesse Mumaugu.of the 7 Miles Ride Car Club of Prague, NE They hold a car show the first part of August. They also do the Wahoo Swap Meet with new leadership of that swap meet. They are here to possibly become members of the Car Council. Connie Johnson gave them an application form. We hope they will consider joining our council. 3

Motion seconded by Boyd Ready. Motion carried. TREASURER S REPORT Connie Johnson read the Treasurer s report. Motion to approve the Treasurer s report by Curt Wagner. Motion seconded by Larry Stephenson. Motion carried. There was one bill submitted this evening from Secretary Cindy Wimmer for the December newsletter in the amount of $ Motion to approve payment of this bill by Chuck Garber. Motion seconded by Kerry Fox. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS SWAP MEET Kerry Fox said there was a lot to discuss this evening. Port-a-potties have been arranged to be delivered. $1, was paid for the insurance for the swap meet. Kerry Fox and Frank Wimmer had a meeting with the Event Center with Jason and Amy and a couple of other people from the Event Center, They found out that they will have only 2 gates open for the swap meet this year instead of the usual 3 gates. The west gate will be closed at Havelock Avenue. Gate 3, the east gate on Havelock Avenue, will be open from the east and north off of 98 th Street and Havelock Avenue. The the gate on 84 th Street will also be open. There will be a lighted sign at Cornhusker and 98 th Street and possibly an officer in addition to 84 th Street to direct traffic. They anticipate that 84 th Street will have 3 lanes coming in in addition to the outgoing 1 lane during the beginning hours of the swap meet. Later on that will change to 2 lanes in and 2 lanes out. We will need to leave one lane open at all gates in order to allow for emergency personnel and vehicles. 98 th Street is a well maintained road. They are going to have to change some jobs around for the clubs that normally work the west Havelock gate to have work to do instead of their normal jobs. The Event Center agreed to help us out by printing the flyers for us in addition to maps locating the new detour routes at 4

5 no cost to us.. Please grab some of them tonight and pass them out to everyone you know.businesses, etc. The Event Center is also going to be printing out larger buyer tickets for paid parking vehicles so that they will be easier to see for the crews that are collecting those lanes at no cost to us. Gary Wyers will be in charge of parking collections. Vendor and buyer collections.no money leaves where you are at. Personnel will be picking up money from you on a very regular basis. Check the ENWICC website for updates as we receive them from the Lancaster Event Center. Getting vendors into the appropriate lanes is paramount with these new lane restrictions. They will try to move vendors into the buildings a little earlier than normal. We are doing a walk thru February 17 th at the east end of Pavilion 3. We will be able to check the conditions of the grounds, all traffic control, etc. Gate personnel should definitely attend. This will occur at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 17 th. Workers are encouraged to come in early the day of the swap meet because of the additional traffic. Check in at the West entrance. Sign in as always in the Lincoln Room. The west door will be open. Come to the 84 th street gate have your worker pass visible and stay in the right lane. Everyone should park at the Caboose grounds. Frank and Kerry will take the map and flyer to the fire department so that they are aware of the changes this year. In prior years, we have had to use their assistance with some medical emergencies. We will notify them of the open lanes at both driveways. Lastly, we needed a flyer for the 2020 swap meet to go into the 2019 book. Frank and Kerry took it upon themselves to up the rates $5.00 per spot for the vendors to cover the increases at the Lancaster Event Center. Over the years, we have had to start charging parking, increase parking costs, having the Car Council take a cut in proceeds.it was time for the vendors to have to pay more for their spots. This is reflective of the flyer in the 2019 Car Council book. Technically we need a motion to do achieve this increase. There is a motion to increase the vendor s fee $5.00 per vendor across the board for the 2020 swap meet. Jim Snyder made the motion. Boyd Ready seconded the motion. Motion carried. Hopefully people won t complain too much. There were a few questions about 98 th Street. Kerry handled those questions well. SCHOLARSHIP 2019 The scholarship committee has $4, to donate this year and they had a meeting on this subject. They also took the application form out of the 2019 car council book. They are now going directly to the colleges. The money will be distributed to the following colleges: McPherson College Automotive Restoration SE Community College - Milford Iowa Western Automotive Repair SW Community College in Iowa by Omaha Donations won t go out until after this year s swap meet CAR COUNCIL BOOKS FOR 2019 Almost everything is in and ready for print. The Suburban and Omaha World Herald have over 2 dozen new advertisers this year. They are very happy with that. The book is on time and they are trying to figure out how to get their 3 vans to Lincoln this year without breaking down. The weight of 10,000 books causes a lot of problems. 5

6 DUES ARE NOW OVERDUE FOR THE FOLLOWIN CLUBS: FORD MERC LINCOLN HORSELESS CHARRIAGE REBELS SAUNDERS COUNTY CRUISIN CLASSICS FALL FOLIAGE TOUR 2018 Boyd Ready made a motion to reimburse the Slo Rollers Car Club for the food they provided at the Fall Foliage Tour Event last fall. They are kind enough to hold this event for the Car Council and it is only right that we reimburse them for their expenses. Kerry Fox seconded the motion. Motion Carried. They submitted a bill in the amount of $ There was discussion about the Slo Rollers paying for the Fall Foliage ad in the Car Council book this year. Hopefully we are getting that for free from the Suburban newspaper. Treasurer Connie Johnson will check on that for us and report back next month. NEW BUSINESS Banking: ENWICC had 2 signers at the bank. Boyd Ready is stepping down from that duty. Treasurer Connie Johnson is the other signers. Swap Meet Co-Director Kerry Fox will take over as the second signer in the future. ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD IN MARCH You are encouraged to run for office. Be prepared to throw your hat in the ring at the February 20 th Car Council Meeting in Omaha if you are interested in running for one of the offices. HOBBYIST OF THE YEAR The Hobbyist of the Year Committee now consists of Jim Snyder and Boyd Ready. Any nominations that you can think of should be given to one of them by the February 20 th, 2019 at the council meeting in Omaha. NATIONAL COLLECTORS DAY IS JULY 12, UPCOMING EVENTS March 15, 16, 17, 2019 is the World of Wheels indoor car show at the CHI building in Omaha, Nebraska. MEMBERSHIP DUES DUE OCTOBER 1, 2018 Dues are 25 cents per member per year for each club, with a minimum charge of $10.00 and a maximum charge of $ for each club. Dues are due October 1 st and are delinquent December 31 st. If not yet made, bring payment to the next meeting, or mail dues to the Treasurer. Each club is entitled to receive two copies of the Wheel Issues newsletter. It is the responsibility of each club to inform us of any changes in mailing information. You can submit changes in writing by mailing them to: Secretary, ENWICC, PO Box 106, Blair, NE 68008, or at the next meeting of the Eastern Nebraska Western Iowa Car Council. GET WHEEL ISSUES BY AND HELP US SAVE $$$ It costs the Car Council to print and mail on average $3.50/newsletter for each one sent. Help us lower our expenses and get your copy of Wheel Issues by . 8 HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS COUNCIL BY-LAWS CURRENT EDITION AVAILABILITY A copy of the most-current revision of the By-Laws, which was revised in 2016 and does include the current dues policy, is available. Those wishing a copy of this are asked to contact the Secretary to obtain one. PLEASE STAND AND SPEAK UP!! Due to the open layout and large size of the Crescent meeting room in Omaha, as well as the configuration of the meeting room in Lincoln, it is difficult for many attendees to hear conversations and discussion during the meeting. PLEASE stand and speak up for the benefit of attendees and the Secretary so that accurate notes can be obtained. It would also be appreciated if non-related conversations be kept at a minimum during the business portion of the meeting as a courtesy to attendees. To protect and assure sound licensing provisions in State Laws and local ordinances. To publicize our hobby: to bring favorable public reaction to bear upon the hobby, and to make legislative authorities and the general public aware of the existence of the hobby and the intrinsic value of preserving a part of automotive history.
