1 REBELS AUTO CLUB NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2013 President s Message Hello fellow Rebels! What a great turn out we had at the holiday party. As usual, the food was great and the fun time was had. Members showed up early to enjoy the happy hour. The gift exchange had some popular gifts this year as always. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the committee members who took care of set up and running the gift exchange and those involved in getting the door prizes. Thank you all who helped. If you couldn't make it to the holiday party this year, please plan on attending next year as it is always a good time. We are starting to get involved in some activities already this year so please read your newsletter as it does have the latest info on what s going on inside the club. The car show meeting will be postponed due to conflicts with the location. I'm working on rescheduling it for the first part of March but the date has yet to be determined As a club we continue to grow every year - reaching out and helping those that need help and promoting fellowship amongst car enthusiasts every where. I'm looking forward to another great year for the Rebels. We are a great club with great members. We have earned a good reputation by giving back to the community and others. I hope to continue the tradition we have established for and keep things in a positive motion.thanks to all the Rebel members for making all this possible. 2 Meeting Minutes Meeting Minutes, January 30, 2013 at the VFW. There were 39 members and guests attending the January meeting. The meeting was called to order by President Dave at 7:30 pm. Dave asked for guests or new members, there were 2 guests, Rick & Patti Buis. Vice President Renee was not able to attend so Dave gave the VP report. The next board meeting will be February 12 th at The Garage, 7 pm. The next general meeting will be February 27 th at the VFW. There was a motion to accept the vice presidents report, seconded and approved. Margaret gave the secretary s report. There was a motion made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes from the December meeting. Margaret said she had brought extra copies of the 2012 roster if anyone would like to have an extra one. Also she will be working on the 2013 roster in the next couple of weeks, she asked if anyone had any changes, s, phone numbers, cars to be added or removed to please contact her so we can make the roster as accurate as possible. The newsletter deadline is February 4 th, please get any articles, pictures etc to Tracee by that date. Ken gave the treasurer s report. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the treasurer s report. Lydell asked how many were in attendance at the Christmas party and Ken said we paid for 5 meals, we had 85 attending. We still have not received the check from SCCA for the cone races. Per Jim McNeil s contact with them the check is in the mail. Ken said he was going to be working on the budget for 2013 in the next couple of weeks. Coordinator Scott was not able to attend. Jim McNeil gave a report on upcoming activities. The swap meet is March 3 rd. There are 14 volunteers for the early shift, still needing 4 more. The late shift has 2 volunteers and 4 more are needed. If you would like to volunteer for either shift contact Scott or Jim. World of Wheels is March th, we have 4 signed up and would like to have 8. Sports Car Club of America will be at air park in April. Hot Rod Nationals will again be Memorial Day weekend. And once again the Rebel s will have a code to be entered for a discount. This year there will be photographers from Hot Rod magazine taking pictures of cars. Craig pointed out that for the entry fee you get entry for two people into the event and there are no year limits so it s less expensive to enter your car than it is to pay for entry to the event. Jim McNeil is also planning a sock hop for the Friday night before the event starts. There was a motion made, seconded and approved to accept the coordinators report. New Business: Proposed honorary members for this year are Sharon Minier, Shirley Kirkbride and Doyle Kearns. There is a car show meeting scheduled for February 17 th, 4 pm at The Garage. The front of the shirt is sold and Dave and Craig Foster will be working on selling ads for the back of the shirt. Old Business: Ken said he is going to be sending out invoices for newsletter advertising in the next couple of weeks. Sheryl Wright has a sign up sheet for a Skills USA tour of Gary Kuch s museum. The cost is $25 and the deadline is February 1 st. See Sheryl or Tony if interested. Jana Pillsworth talked about the fundraiser for the Tepley family. It s a chili feed and is tentatively scheduled for March 3 rd. Margaret will be making cinnamon rolls, if anyone would like to volunteer to either be a baker or to make chili or make a donation for supplies contact Jana. There is a flyer being made up and the information will be on Facebook and also sent by . This month s trivia by Craig Foster was Chevrolet. Next month will be movie cars calendars are available tonight, pick one up at the back of the room. Doug Wells brought up the problem of lack of communication for the canceled and rescheduled December meeting. Dave apologized and said that we would be working on better communication in the upcoming year so we hopefully do not have that as an issue again. Rod Phelps said Rod & Custom plaques are available for $30 on line. Rebel s plaques are $25 and we need to order 25. Would like to have orders for half of them before they are ordered. Meeting was adjourned at 8:30. I would like to thank the Rebel s for the surprise of all the wonderful cupcake liners. I was very surprised and very appreciative. 4 Coordinators Report Well, where did the month go? Here we are getting ready to start February, which means the car show season is right around the corner. I need to first off thank the members that help make this years Christmas party a success. Thanks again to all that stepped up since I could not be there to help set up. It looked wonderful. I believe we had a great turnout. I am teaming up with Jana Pillsworth and friends for a Benefit to help raise money for Ethan Teply s medical expenses for the trip to KC for his surgery. So any of you Rebels that like to cook she could use some volunteers for chili and rolls. Please Contact Jana Pillsworth for further information. The registrations for World of Wheels need to be turn in to me no later than the 15 th of Feb. so that we can get a good location like last year. If there are any of you that would like to put your vehicles in the show please get in contact with me. We have 8 stalls and I have had a few back out at the last minute. We are still in need for volunteers for the swap meets early shifts and the later shifts. If you would like to help out please contact myself or Boyd, We actually need 6 people per group per shift. We have most of the early shifts full but we need to get more people for the 7 till done shift. If there are any rebels that have a business that would like to give stuff away for our car show please contact myself or Dave. Every little bit helps.
