What an outstanding number of participants at the Mio races. Let's encourage each other to partner up and race Blissfield and Paradise. Special thanks to Tony and Holli Short for the new race at the Soo. The fall winds and rain blew in the first day but it was an exciting race for all who competed. Tony is commended for putting together a 2 day staged race. Something new this year is that we will have an end of year get together at the Upper Falls Brewery for dinner. There will be a limited menu for adults and they have a kids menu to offer. We will use this time to recognize the overall point winners and those bank runners, sponsors and paddlers who have contributed to the 2006 racing season. After dinner, one can return to Paradise to enjoy the evening hours with friends and family. October 7-8 Oscoda is offering Tour the AuSable Bike Races. Sat is for road bikes and Sun is a mountain bike race. Last year was a trial course tour. This year it will be an official race. Hats off to Dave Digit and ALL the awesome kids of Kalamazoo. You met some of them at races throughout the year. I was privileged to attend one of their weekly paddle sessions and learned that Dave has done some amazing things to motivate the kids into paddling. These kids formed the Kalamazoo Canoe Club and went to the USCA Nationals to race Tuesday through Sunday. They won many championships and had such a good time. Some of us had the honor of racing with these kids in some of the National events. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU! Lynne Witte, President MCRA

The Race for the Most Improved Paddlers The following is a listing of the top Most Improved C-1 and C-2 paddlers thru the Vassar Race. (Racer s must have a raced a least of the races last year and this year to qualify.) The total number of points earned in each number of races each racer does and the last year s average is compared to this year s average. The average of Mitch McMillan represents an increase of finishing on average over 10 places higher in each race compared to last year s finishes!
