1 proudly supporting Welcome to 2018 Vernon Dragon Boat Festival and Pledge Drive. The following final race information will help teams plan for the day, and answer any questions regarding the event. LOCATION Lochdale Rd Vernon. ARRIVING- The site will open at 7am. If arriving from Vernon you will need to move into the left hand lane after the Meadowlark Rd intersection, Lochdale Rd is 1km ahead. There is a left hand turn lane, if that is full continue on and turn left at Swan Lake Nurseryland and return to make a right hand turn to Lochdale Rd. Lochdale Rd is the first right hand turn after Swan Lake Nurseryland. PARKING- Is very limited, it is critical that teams carpool and that each team arrive in a maximum of 8 vehicles. A drop off zone is available for tents. There is parking available close by at the Village Green Hotel, or the Village Green Mall for teams to meet and ride share. Locations are here SETTING UP- Teams are welcome to set up tents on Friday, each team is allocated space for two 10 x10 tents CHECK IN- Check in for teams will take place from 8am- 8.30am. We ask that only one team member is responsible for this. Changes to team rosters may be made at check-in and before racing commences. STEERS PERSON S MEETING- All steers persons are required to be present for this meeting at 8am. The meeting will be held in front of the main dock.

2 RACE SCHEDULE- The race schedule included in this package will be followed but changes to event times may be made during the day due to weather. Teams will be kept posted as to changes but should be prepared for races to be ahead or behind of the posted schedule. COURSE- The racecourse is 500m. A course diagram is included in this package. STEERING- Exiting from the dock is over very shallow water and the boats will need to be backed out. The steering oar can not be used until the dragon boat is clear of the channel and stopped. Steers are welcome to use a paddle to guide the boat out, strokes can drag a paddle to help with correcting the course. A demo can be viewed here! RESULTS- Results will be posted throughout the event. PLEDGE DRIVE- Teams support of the pledge drive is greatly appreciated. Our Festival has raised $40,000 to purchase breast cancer diagnostic equipment that will used at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Vernon JH Foundation will be collecting pledge sheets and donations during the registration and throughout the morning. 50/50- The Buoyant Buddies will be selling 50/50 tickets during the day to support the fundraising for VJHF. Tickets are 10 for $5. AT THE FESTIVAL- Wings Food Truck will be at our event. A water station will be available for refilling water bottles. PRIZING- We have some fantastic prizes that will be given randomly after each race. EVENT WRAP UP- Join us at the Village Green Hotel following the races to celebrate a great day s racing. The Green has a great patio, the largest selection of beers on tap in Vernon and will be giving away appie platter vouchers in our prizing.
