Chelsea Wilgers is alternate for the state hunting skills team. The next club meeting will be Sunday March 10, 2:30 pm at LLSC. Dusty Trails The Dusty Trails 4-H club had their monthly meeting on February 11, 2013 at 6:00 in the First Baptist Church of Peculiar. While we were there we talked about how last week we had received our club t-shirts but they were missing one person s name. Terry Oberto took the shirts back to the place that we had them made and they said that they would charge us extra for the name to be added. Mrs. Oberto decided that we could just have her sign each of our shirts instead. After we cleared that up, we talked about up- coming shooting sports meetings and where we could get ammo. Then we came up with new ideas for community service. We finalized our heifer international idea by paying for three shares of the garden package. We also tabled the idea to go to Debbies' place again, so please remember to bring your calendars next month so that we can pick a date to go and help with that. At the conclusion of our meeting we made Valentine s Day cards for retirement homes. Our next meeting is on March 18th, at 6pm. -Reporter, Ashly Weight call was: "who was your favorite president?" Members gave project reports and we heard from members who attended the Regional Energizer. We reminded members to sign up for Move Across Missouri. We still have club T-shirts available (contact Gail Pryor or Dawn). Then we made Valentines for the nursing home in Pleasant Hill, Missouri and our leader, Gail Pryor, showed us how to make starter pots for plants out of newspaper. Our Next meeting will be held March 4, 2013 at 7pm at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. -Reporter, Beth Feitz Pacemakers The Pacemakers 4-H Club met Monday February 18th at the Cleveland Community Building. Our community service project for this month was cleaning the community building. We had 9 adults and 11 children present to help with the clean up before the meeting took place. During the meeting future community service projects were discussed. At the next meeting there are going to be two demonstrations at the next meeting. For the March meeting we will be stuffing Easter eggs with candy for a community Easter egg hunt. -Reporter, Javen Fogle Southfork The South Fork 4-H club met at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the South Fork Baptist Church. We discussed our Power Play trip and decided that our March meeting would be our Power Play trip scheduled for March 10 at 2:00 pm. We are supposed to meet at the South Fork Baptist Church and carpool. Kristi Lee did a demonstration on some really cool and simple yo-yo tricks. We also collected food for our local pantry. We enjoyed dancing to some fun music like the Chicken Dance and Macarena as our club activity. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 10 at 2:00 pm as our Power Play trip. - Reporter Kelsie Goth Hickory Grove Hickory Grove 4-H club held a meeting February 4, 2013 at 7pm at Hickory Grove Baptist church. 4 Clover Kid Activities Bouncy Balls Pour 1 tablespoon of glue into one cup add a drop of food coloring and stir with a craft stick In a second cup, combine 2 tablespoons of water and ½ teaspoon of borax together and mix with another craft stick Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and ½ teaspoon of the borax solution to the glue and let stand a minute Stir with the craft stick until fully mixed together and the mixture becomes very difficult to stir Mold the ball in your hands. It will be sticky at first but will become more solid as you mold it. Store your ball in a baggie so it doesn t dry out and crumble. The Horticulture Committee of the Fair is hosting a free Seed Swap on March 9 from 1:30 to 4:00pm at the community building on the Fairgrounds. Everyone interested in gardening-- young and more mature--are invited to attend. At 2:30 Mr Phil Moore will talk on Seed saving, Variety development, and Grafting. Bring seeds, bulbs, roots, cuttings, plants--anything that will grow--that you are willing to share with others and pick up those you want to try and do not have. It is not required to have items to trade to attend. We especially encourage new gardeners, youth, and those with financial difficulties to come and pick up things to grow. Bring something to hold the seed you pick up(ziploc bags, medicine bottles, envelopes, etc). This is a great opportunity to get some different seed and visit with and learn from fellow gardeners. Contact Bernadette Zeller at or bernie@tdscuba.com with questions. Seed Swap 4 4-H Day with the St. Louis Cardinals Missouri and Illinois 4-H members, parents, volunteers and alumni will gather at Busch Stadium on Saturday, May 18, 2013 for the 12th annual 4-H Day with the Cardinals. The World Champion Cardinals will be playing the Milwaukee Brewers in a 6:15 p.m. game. Tickets for the game will be $24.00 each which includes a specially designed t-shirt featuring the 4-H Clover on the back and the Cardinals emblem on the front. 4-H members, leaders, alumni, and their families who purchase 4-H Day with the Cardinals tickets will have the opportunity to participate in a parade around the Busch Stadium outfield. Families can also take part in a raffle for great prizes including the chance to throw out the first pitch, autographed baseballs, and tickets to Cardinals baseball games provided by the St. Louis Cardinals. Pre-game ceremonies will include a recitation of the 4-H pledge and ceremonial first pitches by an Illinois and Missouri 4-H member. Tickets for the event must be ordered on the 4-H Day with the Cardinals order form. Ticket order forms are available at the University of Missouri Extension center or on the Missouri 4-H web at Ticket orders must be postmarked by April 5, Tickets usually sell out before the order deadline so families are encouraged to order early. 4-H Clubs, counties, or groups of families who would like to be seated together must send their orders in the same envelope.
