2 #thenasadifference Founded in 1990, the purpose of the North Alabama Spiker s Association (NASA) Volleyball Club is to promote volleyball in the North Alabama area, to prepare our players for the next level of competition, and to attract college recruiters. NASA will strive to develop, through intense training, the skills both physical and mental, to compete in volleyball at the collegiate level. The Club will provide a positive, well-balanced competitive environment in which young women develop skills to be successful in volleyball as well as life endeavors. Additionally, through wholesome, competitive volleyball experiences, the club will develop young women emotionally, physically and spiritually to meet the challenges of life. It is of the utmost importance to provide personalized training to each athlete so they have the opportunities for more playing time among their respective school teams. NASA will do everything

9 The Crew Essential leadership traits will be taught and reinforced throughout meetings this season. Members will learn how to become more effective leaders and will represent other athletes in the program during Crew meetings. Crew program will provide more positive athlete ownership, more effective communication and athlete self-discipline.

18 Payment Schedule Fees cover all team tournament entry, gym rental, equipment, coach salary, and overhead costs. 20 Important Dates Wednesday, November 7 at AAA Mandatory Team Meetings & Uniform ordering night. Time TBA for each age group. Player & at least 1 parent to attend. First payment due. 21 Team Invitations/Commitment Players and their families should discuss their options prior to tryouts. Players at schools with multiple athletes trying out are asked to make decisions quickly in order to form the most competitive teams possible and remain in compliance with the AHSAA 3 player rule. Families may choose to give their commitment at tryouts or may ask for more time. Please make decisions as quickly as possible. This allows for all girls in the area to find the best fit possible for their club season.

22 Tryouts CAN be awesome! Relax AHSAA 3 player rule: No more than 3 players from a MS/HS team can play together in the off season or they will be ineligible for the following school season. Where do you want to plant your family? 1 team vs 2 team prejudice : choose to PLAY Decide on your priorities: Club? Coach? Players? Use this as a learning opportunity: recruiting vs loyalty Make your decision ahead of time to avoid emotion. Be honest and stick with your decision.

23 Age group determination What age group do I need to try out with??????? What will your child s age be on Sept 1, 2019? It is not their age at tryouts Example: If they turn 13 anytime before Sept 1 of next year they must play 13s.

24 Tryout Schedule Tryout Fee - $50 online, $75 at the door Wednesday, October 24 AAA 12 & younger- 5:00-6:30pm Sunday, October 21 Grace Lutheran 13 s 1:00-2:45pm 14 s 3:00-4:45pm Saturday, November 3 Westminster Christian Academy 15 s 8:00-10:30am 16 s 10:45-1:15pm 17 s 1:30-4pm 18 s 1:30-3pm Walk up registrations will begin 30 minutes prior to each tryout time.

26 Tryout Preparation- Walk Up Walk up fee $75 All forms MUST be signed by a parent Complete NASA Tryout Form Complete JVA Release of Liability Form and JVA Medical Release Form You will receive your tryout shirt after everything is completed. No one will be allowed to tryout without all paperwork completed & signed by a parent.

27 Tryouts!! What to expect: Tryouts will be fast paced drills & game play very similar to a camp/ clinic. Bring water & make sure to have eaten prior to tryouts. Be early & ready to warm up so we can start on time. There will be numerous coaches present evaluating as well as instructing & teaching.
