4 Melissa Stern/Balls of Steal Congratulations! They ve won the winter season tournament and the spring season tournament. No doubt, they re looking to win the summer tournament, too. But how will they fare against the nation s top-ranked teams? We ll soon find out, as All Your Base Are Belong to Us has been invited to play in the Founder s Cup World Kickball News You Need n The season s all-star game and home run derby will be Sept. 14. n Fall registration is open, so start thinking about getting your team together for more fun on the field. The pickup game will be Sept. 28, with the season starting Oct. 5. n If you re not into NFL, sign up for the new kickball league NV News and Notes Bobby s baaaack Tournament, scheduled for Oct. 7-9 at Desert Breeze Park. Teams from across the country are invited to come and strut their stuff and $20,000 in prizes are on the line. Big congrats are in order, and best of luck to the team, as we know they will represent NV Lucky well. Be sure to come out and cheer them on! Gold, which will play at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays this fall. n The end-of-season party will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at Green Valley Ranch Pool. Guests will be charged $10 admission. More details will be coming, but for now circle the date on your calendar for the biggest party of the season! What to Do Off the Field Kickballers don t only party on the field! Suck My Kick vs. Let s Get Weird: Here at the home office, we ve been about as surprised as the folks in D.C. that they had an earthquake as to the fact that Suck My Kick has just sucked more than kicked. A team that has seen its fair share of ups and downs, this squad is looking to salvage a little something Wednesday night. Coming of a decisive victory (10-2 to YCF Dynasty), their confidence is as high as the rebels who took over the Libyan regime. OK, maybe not that high, but they are going to give it the old college try. Let s Get Weird is riding a nice little winning streak of their own. That afternoon heat and sun should play a part in this battle as well. We think Let s Get Weird will get the W, but not without a scare from the Suck My Kickers: LGW -3.5 All Your Base Are Belong to Us vs. Goldmemberz: This could be the game of the season for all intents and purposes! The two undefeated teams going headto-head in the last regular season game, it s as if the Ultimate Warrior was going against Hulk Hogan in WrestleMania. Ding... Ding... Ding... lets get it on! We all know All Your Base will have the minimum number of players, so Mike and Co. of Getting Lucky is on Twitter! Follow us to get the latest announcements and updated scores. We ll be live Tweeting from games, sharing pictures Bobby the Bookie Goldmemberz should be ready for that. Maybe he can convince some of his players to sit this one out and have a real head-to-head battle. With or without the sitting of players, I still think this should be a great game. Goldmemberz have only allowed 11 runs all season, yet All Your Base gets through that line up like a baby eating some bad Mexican food. They fly through it. This too is an early game, so it s gonna be a scorcher on and off the field. If you have time to come watch it, and I suggest you bring a notepad, because there will be some textbook kickball going on here. Sin City Ballerz is reffing this one, so hopefully they get their top people out there cause like Daniel Day Lewis, there will be blood. We are going to side with All Your Base on this one. 5 Predictions Paulie s on fire not literally and shows it with picks Warning: this is your last chance to win back the money I ve taken from you slugs the past couple weeks. After a bumpy start, I ve been on a total hot streak. We re talking pwnage. In fact, I ve made so much scratch that Rod the Ice Cream Man and I were able to afford Burning Man tickets from Craigslist. Like $1,000 to check out a giant wooden stick figure and a bunch of 22-year-old girls with furry boots who are wandering in circles because they took dirty E that their douche bag boyfriends got at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco. Totally worth it! I still need some cash for costumes and glow sticks, though, so hit me up at the park bench for action. After that, I ll be the guy in the utility kilt climbing on top of Thunderdome to watch the fights. Chico s Bail Bonds vs. The Alcoballics If we hopped in the WABAC Machine with Sherman and Mr. Peabody and set it for last month, this wouldn t be a contest. Chico s was atop the standings while Alcoballics were winless and averaging about 2 runs per game. We re talking a UNLV football vs. Wisconsin-type beatdown. Now, maybe not so much. Chico s is on a two-game slide and Alcoballics swept a doubleheader last week after two straight one-run losses. Alcoballics... peaking at the end of the season. Like a swimmer. Except Alcoballics don t shave their legs. This is a key game for Chico s Bail Bonds, which has a shot at earning the No. 3 seed for the postseason. I have a feeling they will overcome the Black Swan curse, but not by much. The Line: Alcoballics +3.5 Blood, Sweat and Jello Shots vs. Tickle My Kickballs One word comes to mind when I think about this game: Meh. It s like Jamba Juice or Zooey Deschanel. Just doesn t do much for me, even though it probably should. Tickle Park Bench Paulie My Kickballs has undergone a complete transformation in the past few weeks, reeling off three straight wins with a whopping 41 runs scored during that time. And Blood, Sweat and Jello Shots is consistently inconsistent, which is highly entertaining most of the time. I should be geeked, right? I don t know. Maybe I m still smarting about Outsourced not being renewed by NBC. Yeah, yeah, that was announced in May. News travels slow to my park bench. Back off! The Line: Blood, Sweat and Jello Shots -1 YCF Dynasty vs. Sit on My Base On paper, this game should be dreadful. Harsh words, I realize, but let s look at the facts. These squads are a combined , Sit on My Base hasn t won a game (on the field, not by forfeit) since July 13. Nothing points to this matchup having any relevance whatsoever. But I got a feeling in my gut. Not a double cheeseburger from Tommy s feeling, but one that is telling me something cool will happen in this game. Like partial nudity or a hot sauce eating contest on second base. Anybody want to make a side bet? The Line: Over 9 runs Blue Ballers vs. SinCity Ballerz Most weeks, this game would take top billing. Instead, it s gotten lost in the hype surrounding the first-place showdown between All Your Base Are Belong To Us and Goldmemberz, not to mention AYBABTU s battle with Kick It and Quit It. Don t worry, though, I got Blue Ballers and SinCity Ballerz backs. This is the type of game that separates the real bookies from the wannabes. Both teams have played a tough schedule and appear evenly matched. The difference? Blue Ballers is riding a five-game winning streak and doesn t have any superfluous Zs in their team name. The Line: Blue Ballers -2 Leg Go My Eggo vs. Ballz En Fuego There s not a lot to say about this game, so I ll use this space to give the entire East Coast stick for freaking out about a little 5.8 earthquake. I have slept through bigger earthquakes for crying out loud. Three words for y all: Duck and cover. The Line: Ballz En Fuego -4.5 Kick It and Quit It vs. All Your Base Are Belong To Us First off, can someone please find me at my park bench and explain the F.U.B.A.R. syntax of the pink team s name? I don t get it. In all seriousness, this is a pretty big game. This is the second game of a doubleheader for AYBABTU and it will be interesting to see how much they have left in the tank after taking on Goldmemberz. Kick It and Quit It could earn the No. 3 seed with a victory, but this is the same team that followed a convincing win over Chico s Bail Bonds with a loss last week to The Alcoballics, so who knows which team will show up. Maybe if KIAQI wins they can celebrate by buying falcons like the guy on the State Farm commercial. No? The Line: All Your Base Are Belong To Us -4 Last week: ( season record)
