WOW! The Country Club was transformed into a beach paradise. It was the perfect setting for a fun night. Decorations by Larry and Donna Bivens were over the top. Thanks you two for doing such a great job. Audrey Borja made the arrangements for our exciting entertainers and everything went off without a hitch. Happy Feet DJ Schedule Top 40 New Members Shannon s Bar & Grill Flyers Thanks Audrey. The silent auction was put together by Melinda Crocker and Katherine Causby and what a nice auction it was. Well done, ladies. And thanks go out to all members who donated items for the auction, it was a great success. Having Butch Metcalf play is the icing on the cake to this already fun event. I received many compliments throughout the evening on what a great party we have. During the month of September I will be asking for volunteers to start the election process starting with the nominating committee. If you would like to be on this committee, please see me at the weekly dance. If you have not volunteered for something this is your chance to step up. Our club has had a surge of people coming to learn to shag and I could not be more pleased. The club is in good financial shape, and our members have stepped up to volunteer for front desk duty, but we would always welcome more member participation. We currently have seven dance instructors and we would like to have at least one more couple to teach. Of course we will train you how to teach the shag. If interested please contact Don Borja or Wes Kirchner for more information. If you blink you may find yourself in a new month. Well, that seems to be what has happened this year. SOS is upon us and the days are getting shorter, the nights a little cooler and the thoughts of Christmas are not THAT far away. So please take the time to enjoy this time of year because if you blink.. Wes

2 And what a blast it was... By Don Borja The minute you walked through the door.wham!!! You were in a BEACHY MOOD. No, I didn t say the other word. I said, BEACHY MOOD. You were seeing and feeling Myrtle Beach. Butch Metcalf set the tone, our invited Hall of Fame DJ from High Point, North Carolina. Can t get anymore on the beach and on the ocean front than that. Our very own BBC members on the decorations committee, Larry and Donna Bivens, out did themselves this year. You could smell and almost feel the ocean breeze. It made you ready to hit the beach clubs on Main St. in North Myrtle Beach...hear the music, I think Butch is playing

5 WHAT A PARTY. By Audrey Borja Our BBC annual party was August 29 at the Fredericksburg County Club. What a time we had as 75 of us dined and danced the night away. The spirits were high as many of our NVSC friends joined in the evening fun and as Wes said in the party program, we even had a full moon at no extra cost.:) We began our evening with an exceptionally decorated ballroom with a beach theme that got us all in the mood. Thank you Larry and Donna Bivens you guys went way out and beyond and we got constant compliments. You guys made us proud! Our dinner was suburb as usual and the mashed potatoes were their usual hit. Our night was filled with music by our Beach Music Hall of Famer, Butch Metcalf. Thank you Butch, you kept us groovin~ Our entertainment was top notch as Gaye Proctor and Steve Mitchell did their exhibition dance dazzling all of us with their proficient dance style: a little bit of shag, swing, hand dancing and moves all their own. What a showcase performance. We were fortunate to have them with us. They are long time dancers, performers and friends. Thanks to BBC members Kathryn and Melinda for coordinating and taking the lead on the silent auction. It was true success. Thank you ladies~ Thanks to our friends Fran Mong and Jeanne Potter for carrying the 50/50 basket around for us. The winner was happy when their name was called. Thank you ladies~ It is always so much fun to have all of us together. There is nothing like spending good times with friends and appreciating each other and our many blessings. Thanks to all who helped with our party! You all rock!
