May 15 th Moose Lodge Shallotte Letter from the President of the Coastal Shag Club Hello Shaggers, Hi Shaggers, If our May dance is anything like April it is bound to be a big time. At the April dance we had our highest attendance yet and hopefully we will be busting at the seams again. Bill Ruth will be our DJ and I know if you have a favorite shag song he is going to have it in bag of hits. If you want to brush up on a step or two don t forget about the free shag lesson provided by Jim and Donna before the start of each dance, at 6:30. You will also notice will have a beautiful new laser cut sign for the Coastal Shag Club which was generously donated by Matt Dillon. Thank you Matt for the wonderful signage and everything you do for the club. Hopefully, you were able to make it to his annual Beach Party it was a blast! For those of you who missed it, the SOS Spring Safari parade was another beautiful day and Main Street was jumping. The Coastal Shag Club entered the parade and with the help of a whole cast of characters we were able to bring back 2 nd place for Best Shagging Troup once again. Thanks to everyone who was able to pitch in and participate in the parade, or support us from the crowds. Our new plaque will join last year s trophy in their place of honor on the back table. Our $150 winnings were donated back the SOS Charitable Foundation. We have pictures from the parade on our website - so stop by next time you are online and take a look at the Coastal Shag Club Shagapiller. So give Gary Sellers and the CSC Parade committee and participants a big hand of congratulations and pat on the back for another great job and all their hard work. Mark your calendars to come to the Rourk Park Garden, in Shallotte, on Sunday, May 30 th. The Coastal Shag Club has been asked to help get the party started at the first Summerfest Concert by shagging and showing our stuff. The entertainment that night will be provided by the Craig Woolard Band (CWB) and I know it is going to be a great night of music and dancing. The concert starts at 6:00 and we hope to have a information table for the Coastal Shag Club to help spread the word about shag and what a wonderful club and organization we all have built. We need your help selling the cruise raffle tickets that the club voted to sell as a fundraiser. The winner will receive a cabin on the At Sea WithThe CWB cruise in January of 2011 leaving out of Charleston S.C., this is a $1400 dollar value. More information on the cruise can be found in the monthly newsletter and our website. If you are able to help sell the tickets or would like to purchase a ticket please contact Garry Sellers. I hope that everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day and that we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our freedom and the freedom of others may they never be forgotten. 2 May Dance Details Our DJ This Month Sunday, May 30 th 6:00 pm Join the Coastal Shag Club at Shallotte s SummerFest in the Garden at Rourk Gardens on Main Street. The Craig Woolard Band (CWB) will provide the music at a celebration honoring local veterans. Bring your lawn chairs. Alcohol is not permitted. The Club will be hosting a membership drive. We have raffle tickets for a chance to win a cruise for two to the th Annual CWB Making Waves Cruise! Tickets are only $20 each and only 100 will be sold. Our monthly dance will be held this Saturday, May 15th at the Moose Lodge in Shallotte. We'll be dancing the night away from 7:00 to 11:00 pm.
