Staff Wants Papers Banned At Chapel Dear Students: The feels that the student body would much rather prefer havng the paper come out Wednesday mornng at 7:45 nstead of three hours later, 11:00. But n order to do ths, the NEWS must have the co-operaton of the entre student body n askng them not to read papers n chapel. That act s all too dscourteous for college people and reflects unfavorable on the paper. If anyone s seen readng a NEWS n chapel, publcaton tme wll be swtched back to 11:00. The Staff DOREMUS JESSUP WILLIAM MASS Archeology Flm Wll Be Shown Here Soon "The Human Adventure", an eght-reel talkng pcture of hstorc research work, wll be shown n the audtorum Jan. 17. "1939 Key Wll Be A Honey" -- Hghfeld Edtor Hghfeld says that the Student Body s cooperatng so well that he sees no reason why ths book shouldn't be a "honey". The Key Staff s makng rapd strdes, says Edtor Harlan Hghfeld. The entre Freshman and Sophomore classes have been photographed, the Junor pctures are well started, the Senors, Graduatng Sophomores and faculty pctures are more than half done. The prntng contract s open now, and negotatons for bds on the cover have begun. Ths year's annual wll have nearly 200 pages, many more pctures than prevously and other features that the staff just won't talk about. Extra! Councl After Rec. Room Every Nte In a heated Student Councl meetng held Monday nght where a commttee composed of "Abe" Keown, Meredth Mller and Janet Stump champoned the B. G. U.'s "man on the street" n hs desre for outsde actvtes, that body decded to take mmedate acton toward securng the recreaton hall for nghtly actvty hours.

3 ^ PAGE 2 Ebb And Flow In Campus Pattern A vew of a campus walk durng the ffteen mnutes before classes change s rather lke a move whose speed has been gradually ncreased. A few early students amble casually along, pausng to chat wth frends or to wave at someone across the street. A couple of grls hestate, to watch a squrrel whch s clmbng up and down the tre of a parked automoble; two boys stop to compare notes on a homework assgnment whch nether has fnshed. A car sldes slowly past, swngng carefully nto an empty space besde the curb. Gradually, the pace of the students ncreases, and there come the crowds who know that they wll nether be early nor late for ther classes. They talk and laugh as they go, glancng over ther shoulders frequently to sec who s near. As the crowds thn, the stragglers «walk more brskly. The clock strkes. A car races by, swervng nto an empty parkng space and jerkng to a stop. The tardy students abandon ther dgnty and race over the walk, untl at last they stumble hastly up the steps of the buldng whch s ther destnaton. The paths are empted; a few lone wanderers stray past, but that s all untl the moton pcture starts agan, and the frst students saunter casually to the next perod's classes. Men's Dorm Gong Up (Contnued from page 1, col. 1) ber E. E. Cornell of Bowlng Green made a moton to that effect. The new buldng wll be offcally dedcated, upon completon, to the late Dr. Kohl who was head of the socology department here. Gve Us A Socal Room In the polcy below the News.stands as favorng a socal room for men where men can smoke and talk. Ths polcy, wthout a doubt, s favored by every male student on the campus. Most larger unverstes haye socal halls for both men and women, but, although B. G. S. U. s growng, such a buldng here s not probable for some tme. But somethng must be done about a stuaton whch compels men who wsh to smoke to go outsde even n the worst knd of weather, and a stuaton whch does not gve students a place where they can meet and talk except n the "well". There have been many suggestons by students as to makng use of what there s here to make a socal room. Most of these agree that the room should be n the admnstraton buldng, n an unused room. The News would lke to go further n suggestng that the room be furnshed wth chars, sofas and other furnture usually seen at dances or n suggestng that fraterntes contrbute furnture. Also a plan of cooperatve buyng by those who would be usng the room most mght be feasble. The student councl ths year has ndcated that at last t s anxous to do somethng for the unversty nstead of remanng just an honorary organzaton. Here s one stuaton n whch t can effectvely carry out ts pledge. If a men's socal room s arranged maybe a smlar room for women can be found.
