4 November Birthdays It s never too late to wish someone a happy belated birthday. So, if you run into Marian Davis Bill Rutledge, Marge McCrory, or JoAnn Canzone, you should break into song. Marian celebrated the big 8-0 on November 5th, Joann s big day fell on 11/12/13, Bill blew out candles on November 20th, and Marge celebrated on the 24th. We are having fun singing at our Wednesday morning coffee/donut time. People are really good sports and love to celebrate joyful events. Songs and smiles are two blessings in life. Enjoy them! It s Music to our Ears! Dick s Jam Session invites you to join the fun that s happening in the Rec. Hall beginning at 2 PM every Wednesday. The group will perform a holiday program in the Auditorium from 7-8:30 PM on December 19th. Donations are accepted at the door so no ticket is necessary. Kids Unlimited has been a part of the Tucson community for 25 years and the funds raised at their concert will assist kids who are in need of scholarships throughout the year. This reputable organization provides Tucson youth with an opportunity to exhibit their individualism through the performing arts. It also provides a safe stage for all of those who love to perform. Please stop in to enjoy the music and support today s youth. Check out the website: German Food Truck Returns Just think, no time in the kitchen cooking or washing dishes. You can give yourself a night off and let someone else do the work. So before you join us in the Auditorium to enjoy the Kid s Unlimited program, stop for a bite to eat. Random Acts of Kindness Lending a helping hand can really make a difference and this park is filled with helpful people. A few weeks ago, Frank (from our mailroom) helped Judy Ruben get rid of a black widow spider underneath her stairs. Judy felt safe to go out barefooted after that! Thank you, Frank! So many people have stopped into the Activity Office to share a smile and a friendly word. Joyce and Kristi appreciate every one of you!

8 More Clubs and Activities! Ceramics Let s Take a Hike! Do you enjoy nature? Do you own tennis shoes or hiking boots? Well, get ready to join a friendly group of hikers for a stroll in the desert. The hikers meet on Mondays 8:30 AM and Thursdays 8:00 AM in the Breezeway to leave on their adventure. Monday is a group ready for an easy hike and returns by noon. On Thursdays, the group heads out for an intermediate level hike and returns by early afternoon (so bring your lunch if you join that one!) All hikers should come prepared with water, a snack, and sunscreen. The groups will carpool for this activity and the fee is $2 to help with gas expenses. If you have any questions, please contact Henry at Horseshoes The Rincon Ringers are a busy bunch. They have been watering and working clay in the pits. They even painted the stakes and spruced up the courts. They are now ready for some fun pitching! As folks return to the park, a small group has already been playing Cut-throat. The group is getting set for league action, which begins January 3rd. Anyone can join in the fun. All levels are welcome to pitch. The league pitches on Friday afternoon at 12:30. The doors are unlocked and shoes are available. So, you are welcome to use the sandpits if you like to slide- em-in. Don t forget, the shoes just stay where they land on the clay pits. Contact Hank (Lot #354) or Jim (Lot #408) with questions. Ceramics will be up and running again this season. If you like to paint, create, and enjoy friendly conversation, ceramics is the place to be. Ceramics meets every Tuesday at 9 am in the Pottery & Ceramics room. The room is also open daily until 10 pm for your convenience. Dues for the season are $5. Contact: Bonnie Shaver at Bocce Ball Our Fun League begins on Nov. 25th and ends on Dec. 19th. Games are played M-TH at 1:00 and 3:00. Sign up in the Activity Office. Mark your calendars for another awesome season on Bocce beginning on January 6 and running through Thursday, February 27th. There are 35 teams already signed up for the season and one more is needed, so that all teams can participate every week. Substitutes are also needed. Age, gender, and experience are not necessary. Everyone can have fun. We have teams of all men, all women, and mixed groups. Participants learn as they play and when the tournament begins, the winners are often beginners! The club needs volunteers for court cleaning, cooking for fund raisers, and helping with beginning players who are learning. The Spaghetti Dinner is coming up soon, so if you are able to help with that, please contact Gail or Lorne Booth. Watch for schedules and other important announcements posted in the bocce shed located just north of the courts. Team captains should have been contacted by Gail to share your responsibilities. So, let the bocce fun begin by remembering the words once spoken by Victor Borge, Laughter is the shortest distance between two people. 8
