2 ERYC TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY BACKGROUND Mission statement Eryc Taylor Dance, Inc. is a New York City based not-for-profit corporation with a mission to advance appreciation of dance and educate the public about dance by creating and presenting original performances, conducting master classes and workshops, and making grants to aspiring choreographers. ETD's choreography seeks to find, explore and execute new points of view and combine varied styles of dance on and off pointe. The work displays a fierce desire to attain a bold physicality that strips away the movement to its essential core, and has a strength, energy and drama that carries its own. The structures of the dance deal with underlying impulses that reveal one's psyche creating a sense of bold honesty. ETD also strives to stay ahead of the curve, collaborating with digital artists and unique composers, to fuse the new age of technology with the classical compositions of music and dance. Specifically, ETD specializes in mapping and light projections, to create ethereal extensions of the dancers and stimulate the visual senses with grandiose illuminations. ERYC TAYLOR DANCE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Eryc Taylor holds a BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Pa, and an MFA in Dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

Taylor has been awarded several major scholarships, including residency at Jacob s Pillow, and spent two years with Merce Cunningham's Junior Ensemble (RUG).

4 ERYC TAYLOR DANCE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR Eryc Taylor holds a BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, Pa, and an MFA in Dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Eryc Taylor has studied abroad at both the London Contemporary School of Dance and the Centre de Danse du Marais in Paris. Taylor has been awarded several major scholarships, including residency at Jacob s Pillow, and spent two years with Merce Cunningham's Junior Ensemble (RUG). He is currently on the University of the Arts Alumni Council. Taylor has performed works by Merce Cunningham, Mark Dendy, Group Motion, Paul Taylor, Milton Meyers, Sean Curran and Gus Solomons Jr. and has collaborated with artists such as Frieda Abtan, Todd Yeager, Laura Peterson, Jason Levine, Scooter LaForge, Mark Beard, and Gerald Busby. Taylor's choreography has been presented worldwide and he is known for producing sight specific dance installations. He has produced summer dance festivals in Martha s Vineyard called, "Dance Martha Dance!" His work has also appeared at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, Joyce Soho, The Second Avenue Dance Theater, NYU, Dance Theater Workshop, Dance New Amsterdam s APAP festival, Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, NYC, New York Live Arts, Armando Manzanero Teatro (Merida, Mexico). As the Artistic Director of Eryc Taylor Dance, he is curating and creating multiple community outreach programs on top of performances and tours. The programs include a residency with PGCMH (Post Graduate Center for Mental Health), an arts & cultural exchange program with Cuba, a mentorship dance workshop, and an annual grant for aspiring choreographers. The New Choreographer Grant began in 2012 and has since given to 9 young NYC-based choreographers. Taylor continues to explore the endless possibilities of dance, both in performance and outreach.

ERYC TAYLOR DANCE DANCERS JAKE KRUTY Jacob Kruty graduated in May from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in contemporary dance.

NICOLE BAKER Originally from Holden, Massachusetts Nicole received her BFA in dance performance from Adelphi University.

Nicole is also a member of Krissy and the Works.

5 ERYC TAYLOR DANCE DANCERS JAKE KRUTY Jacob Kruty graduated in May from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in contemporary dance. He is proud to be making his professional NYC debut with Eryc Taylor Dance. NICOLE BAKER Originally from Holden, Massachusetts Nicole received her BFA in dance performance from Adelphi University. At AU, she performed the works of Martha Graham, Orion Duckstein, Takehiro Ueyama, Paul Taylor, and Jiří Kylián. Nicole is also a member of Krissy and the Works. GRAHAM COLE A North Carolina native, Graham graduated from the UNC School of the Arts in 2015 with a BFA in contemporary dance. While at UNCSA he was fortunate to perform in works by José Limón, Lucinda Childs, Twyla Tharp, Helen Simoneau, and Shen Wei, among many others. Most recently, Graham has appeared as a guest artist with Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, Greenville Civic Ballet, and Winston-Salem Festival Ballet.

ERYC TAYLOR DANCE DANCERS AJ GUEVARA AJ Guevara is a New York-based artist hailing from California s central coast. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.F.

6 ERYC TAYLOR DANCE DANCERS AJ GUEVARA AJ Guevara is a New York-based artist hailing from California s central coast. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.F.A in Dance and Choreography. He has also trained at the American Dance Festival on scholarship where he worked with Jodi Melnick, and performed the first reconstruction of Bill T. Jones 'Love Redefined'. Also a current member of Company E, AJ travels as a performer,educator, and artistic ambassador in partnership with the US Department of State promoting cultural diplomacy through dance. CHRIS BELL Originally from San Antonio, Texas but lives and works in NYC. He attended Case Western Reserve University with the help of a fully funded graduate fellowship, earning a MFA in Contemporary Dance. He completed his undergraduate work at Texas Christian University and Lamar University earning degrees in Ballet and Geology. He is also a proud alum of the American Dance Festival at Duke University where he was a 4-time full scholarship recipient. He is currently Choreographic and Directorial Assistant to Mark Dendy as well as a member of Mark Dendy Projects, serves as Rehearsal Director and Guest Artist for Gaspard&Dancers, performs with Ben Munisteri Projects and serves as a Director/ Choreographer for TADA! Youth Theaters. He has also served as resident choreographer for The American Theater of Harlem, and The Mather Dance Collective.

7 COMPOSERS GERALD BUSBY Gerald Busby is best known for his film score for Robert Altman s 3 Women, an international cult classic, and his dance score for Paul Taylor s Runes, which has had more than a thousand performances around the world since its Paris premiere. Busby has composed over 500 works in all genres and is currently writing an opera based on 3 Women. This year, Busby composed, Dances on Wood, an original score for Eryc Taylor Dance. DANIEL TOBIAS Daniel is classically influenced from Juilliard and rhetorically influenced from The University of California, Berkeley. His collaboration with Eryc Taylor on The Missing in 2010 has since inspired his addiction to West Coast Swing, Country, and International Line Dance. Daniel and Eryc have always had an invigorating creative feedback loop that feeds Daniel s fluid passion: The more that dance fills my body, the more music fills my ears and must be written. And the more music I write, the more dance fills my body and must be choreographed. Also, under the pen name of Rafe Haze, Daniel is currently authoring his second and third novels of romantic mystery and suspense following his lauded debut novel The Next. DESIGNERS MILAN DELVECCHIO (COSTUME) Milan DelVecchio (b. 1987, Carson City, NV) is a visual artist currently based in New York City. Her skill set spans a range of creative industries and across many geographies. She has worked as a costume designer for the Opera Theatre Music Festival in Tuscany, and most recently for costume and art direction with Safety Third Productions, in collaboration with GoRogue Records for Throw the Game music video. Through each varying medium, Milan s aesthetic maintains a provocative whimsy - one she hopes will evoke humility in all that is sensational and bizarre.

8 DESIGNERS SCOOTER LAFORGE (COSTUME) Scooter LaForge is a full-time artist living in New York City. Last year, he was featured in shows at the Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York, the Friedrichshof Museum in Vienna, and the Spirit Museum/ Absolut Art Collection in Sweden. He also presented a solo show at the Howl! Happening Gallery in New York, which Autre ranked as one of the top ten exhibits of 2015.Last fall, LaForge was commissioned to create garments for Madonna s performance of her single Bitch I m Madonna on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Debbie Harry have all worn items from his clothing line. In 2015, he was the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation award. Commenting on his exploration of context, Forbes magazine wrote he has found a new art medium in clothing. DAV BURRINGTON (COSTUME) Dav Burrington earned his Costume Design MFA in 2012 at Kent State, where he earned his BFA in Dance Performance in His thesis was the design of Kent s 2011 fall faculty dance concert, in which Dav created the design for 5 of the 6 pieces performed. Hamlet marked Dav s theatrical drama design debut. He was the costume coordinator and designer for Kent s 2010 fall faculty dance concert, assistant costume designer for the American Dance Festival s 2009 season, and has performed, as well as costumed for Travesty Dance Group/Cleveland and Verlezza Dance. Professional costume designs for Chicago and Sunshine Boys have been seen at Porthouse, summer CHRISTOPHER ANNAS-LEE (LIGHTING) Christopher Annas-Lee is a lighting designer for theatre, dance, opera, events, and concerts. He also works as an associate/assistant lighting designer, draftsperson, and electrician. He is the recipient of a 2015 Helen Hayes award in Outstanding Lighting Design, holds a BFA in Lighting Design from North Carolina School of the Arts, and was the 2014/15 Lighting Fellow at the J.F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He is currently based in NYC, but will venture to the very edge of the world for you.
