Since cheerleading has become more athletic and more competitive, teams are looking for something to make them different and help them stand out, but also comfortable for cheerleaders to wear. We also offer complementary products such as sneakers, backpacks, bows, and practice wear. Our goal is to try to convince teams why they need to purchase from Rebel Athletic, instead of purchasing from competitors such as Varsity Brands. Needs Gap According to the Active Network Inc. (2007), there are approximately 3.3 million Americans who participate in cheerleading. From 2000 to 2007, Pop Warner Cheerleading grew 20% to over 5,400 cheer and dance teams nationwide. There has also been an increase in All-Star cheerleading since the 1990 s. There are over 1.5 million all-star cheerleaders. Active Network Inc. also states that the average age of cheerleaders is 13 years old, with 68% being between 7 to 17 years old. They are a well-established brand that has been around since Varsity Brands is a $1.2 billion company with 80% of the market. They sell uniforms, apparel, shoes and even run competitions 3. We need to have more brand recognition because we offer a product that many cheerleaders and coaches alike will appreciate. Varsity sells uniforms that do not have a lot of sparkle, but can be the more traditional uniforms. Since they are more traditional and have less sparkle, they are more affordable compared to us. Varsity also sells other apparel and shoes; they also have competitions and camps that help to develop their brand. Chassé Chassé is another cheerleading uniform brand. They are not as well-known, but they are less expensive. They again do more traditional uniforms and are more printed on one fabric, instead of multiple fabrics sewn together.
