2 Page 2 LJIS Student Wins Brazoria County Spelling Bee Congratulations to LJIS 7th grade student, Johanna Verghese (center of picture), for winning the Brazoria County Spelling Bee on Friday and Davin Cai, sixthgrader at Rasco Middle School as he came in Second Place!!! Johanna advances to the Houston Spelling Bee to be held on March 28 at 2:00 PM on the UH campus. The Bee will be televised on PBS Channel 8. On Saturday, February 7, 2015, 11 students from Brazosport High School competed in a debate and drama tournament at Brazoswood High School. We are so proud of all these students! The Bport Junior Varsity Tennis team participated in the Bay City JV Invitational Tennis Tournament. Emmie Jenkins & Isaiah Waddy won 1st place medals and David Luera won a 3rd place medal. Congratulations!!! The girls JV White soccer team beat Alvin HS Thursday night 6-1 for their fourth win in a row. Way to go, Ladies! Anchor Down! The Soccer Lady Bucs are on fire! Brazoswood gets their third consecutive win after beating Dickinson, 1-0. Congratulations Lady Bucs!! Congratulations Freeport Redskins seventh-grade Boys A and B teams as they each secured a victory over Angleton on their last game of the season!! Congratulations to the Bucs Soccer Team! Brazoswood Bucs get their first District 24-6A victory of the season, against Dickinson, 3-1. Friday Night Lights! JV Lady Bucs Soccer wins 6-0!! Lady Bucs Varsity Soccer wins 5-0!! Great night for girls soccer!! Brazosport Powerlifters excel at invitational The Brazosport Exporters boys and girls teams competed at the Blackcat Invitational at Bay City on Saturday, and the girls came away with some big wins. The boys finished fourth overall with Victor Guevara leading the way. Guevara placed first in the 275-pound class and heaved a total of 1,400 pounds. Second-place finishers were Jeremiah Credit (148- pound class), Danny Martinez (220-pound class) and Antonio Williams (275-pound class). Five Lady Ships brought home first-place finishes. Criselda Sema (105-pound class), Na Kyra Darthard (123-pound class), Mercedez Strambler (148-pound class), Phylane Smith (165-pound class) and Quinessa Marshall (198-pound class) were at the top of their weight class for the competition. Victoria Martinez (198- pound class) and Jordyn Buestillos (220-plus-pound class) finished second. Freeport Intermediate 7th Grade A Team are the Undefeated District Champs!! Ney was proud to host representatives from Brenham ISD today as they visited our school to learn more about PBIS (Positive Behavior Incentives and Supports) Great job to our PBIS team! # bthe1 Follow Us On Brannen Elementary wins Energy Improvement Award! Congratulations to the staff of Brannen Elementary for winning the monthly Energy Improvement Award! They completed December with a 31.4% improvement over November! A special thank you goes to Chris Moore (right), Brannen's Energy Champion, who leads the efforts with the Brannen staff to maintain an energy secure school. Austin Elementary came in second place with 27.4% and Rasco Middle is in third place with 23.5% improvement. Thanks goes to each and every BISD staff member your energy-saving efforts are paying off!
