(He was very excited) Come on and be a part of fifteen or twen-thousand Corvettes converging on Bowling Green! It is an awesome thing, I helped open up the museum when it first began. It was fun then and it will be great now after twen-five, and we hope they show the mid-engine Corvette then. You can also go to the one in August of this year. The place Bob mentioned staying is great too, it is only a twen minute drive to the museum. Thank you Brian! I have provided a website link below to Rockcastle Resort at Park Mammoth; a resort Brian has mentioned for our stay when visiting the NCM. You can look at each individual section with the links on the website; shooting center, lodging, winery, restaurant, and golfing. Prices for lodging during the NCM 25th Anniversary Celebration range from $85 to $104 a night depending on room selection. He stated Bet, his wife, made a newsletter and they handed out flyers to gain new members; and that was twen years ago. He said he would have never envisioned twen years ago that he would still be here. Dennis said he knows after another twen years he will not be here; but the neat part about it is that we were there and the time has just flown by. If you all are just starting out, some of the younger members, if you do hang around the association with Corvette is really what keeps everybody together. This is a whole new group here, I had a 71 Stingray and I think some of the others had some older cars, you know, but you can t find them any more. But now you are on a new generation, so the younger ones you are following the same foot steps and I really do appreciate everything and all of the club members for the last twen years and I thank you. (Everyone applauded) Thank you Dennis! Jo thanked Dennis and told him we really appreciate that. *Jo and Pam showed everyone the 20th Anniversary Shirts; $10 each; Blue, gray, or red (paprika); They did order a few extra shirts that were available for purchase; Jo asked that everyone wear the shirts on Saturday at the par *Wetumpka River Perk; Prevention of Soldier Suicide; 12pm; August 23; They have asked that we bring some Corvettes. *Vets N Vettes; NCM; November 8-10; Our club member from Pennsylvania Jack Delong will be speaking Thursday at the event *Church of the Highlands; Men s Night; August 10; 6:30pm-10:30pm; They asked if some of the guys could bring their cars *Hendrick Museum; Pay your $25 per person donation to Vickie by the next meeting 5 of 8
6 *Dari spoke about the car show the guy was passing the flyers out for at the First Friday event. Only six cars showed up for the show and come to find out the guy passing out the flyers, the show was for him. He has advanced kidney disease and is on three different lists for organ transplant. He also works at the O Reillys where the show took place. This is near and dear to Dari s heart, some sixteen years ago Dari lost his wife to kidney disease. This guy used his own money to buy the items for the show; beverages, hotdogs, and trophies. Dari and three other participants gave a little extra when getting their meal that day at the show to help out. Dari suggested that we pass the hat to raise money to help out also, and that the club match the amount in the hat; also that the club s portion of the 50/50 be included. The motions were approved for the donations. Pam also stated she would include the money from a shirt sale and the money from the C5 purse that is for sale. Passing the hat raised $352, if we matched that it would be $704, then with the $55 from the 50/50 it would be $759, Vickie recommended we just say $800 and rap that up. With the $55 from Fred and the $20 C5 purse purchase by Dari for DeAnna, the total donation will be $875. * Care Package for Ryan Schnepf; Ryan is in the USAF and has been deployed to Afghanistan; Wendee stated that you can also bring your donation for the package to the par on Saturday; Wendee also passed around two cards for everyone to sign, one of the cards matched Ryan s car; The first package should go out next week *Freedom Steps; Will also be sending a care package to Ryan; An organization that our club member Jack Delong told us about *Care purses & Back Packs; Continuing Donation Effort; Janet said they still need coffee, wipes, and hand sanitizer. Also the goodies we get from our hotel stays are good items. *Larry stated that they took the 98 out for a spin Saturday night and the serpentine belt broke. Larry asked you want to know how far you can get when your serpentine belt breaks no where.aaa bailed us out. (LOL now, but not at the time I am sure.) *Chip stated that if we wanted to participate in the Millbrook Mardi Gras Parade, we need to fill out an application in October; Jo asked that Chip remind her 6 of 8
