Welcome to NSX! It is our mission at NSX to provide athletes with the opportunity to fulfill their goals and obtain new skills in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.

Our athletes will learn life skills as well as cheerleading skills, and our team of highly trained coaches will guide each athlete to reach their full potential.

2 Welcome to NSX! It is our mission at NSX to provide athletes with the opportunity to fulfill their goals and obtain new skills in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. We believe that participation in cheerleading fosters teamwork, responsibility, self-esteem and personal growth. Our athletes will learn life skills as well as cheerleading skills, and our team of highly trained coaches will guide each athlete to reach their full potential. In existence since 1969, North Shore Cheerleading is recognized as the first cheerleading club in Quebec! We are a bilingual non-profit sports organization whose coaches live and breathe cheerleading. NSX Gym provides recreational and competitive athletes with 1.5 fully sprung floors, a Tumble track, Foam pit, Air track, over 20 mats and pieces of equipment which includes fitness materials, a Dance studio, and a 60 ft. rod floor! This 8,110 square-foot facility has helped us earn the following awards during the season: 16 Gold Titles 3 National Championship titles 3 Grand Championship titles Finalist at The Summit Championships Specialty awards & Cash prizes What s new for season? New Competitions in Canada & USA New Uniform New Practice gear New Coaching members Team Reveal Concussion Testing & Management And most importantly new Memories Follow us: North Shore Many of our coaches have grown up in our organization, starting as athletes, and now leaders in our gym. We believe that having well trained coaches create exceptional athletes, so they have the D.D.O. Volunteer card, CPR & First-aid training, and the level 1 certification from The Federation de Cheerleading de Quebec. Not to mention some have USASF certification levels 1 to 5, the National Coaching Certifications, and many other qualifications. We also provide a Coaches-In-Training (CIT) program to mentor and train athletes 14 + to become our future coaches. Our coaches and CITs attend yearly coaching conferences to learn from the best in our field, so that we can be the best teachers for our athletes. We believe in investing in our coaches training to ensure they re current with techniques, safety and trends. nsx_cheerleading

We at NSX, aim to make our passion for cheer transfer over to our athletes, and parents, and to build up their selfconfidence so that nothing in cheer, or life, seems unattainable.

This year, like others before it, we will have team bondings throughout the year to create a family feel. It starts right from the beginning at our new TEAM REVEAL event on July 10 th!

In our small but mighty gym, every athlete is known throughout our entire competitive program by the other athletes and coaches.

Many of our families build relationships, and parents become good friends that extend past the gym. Our gym is truly a family and 2 nd home for our clients. All athletes interested in joining our competitive program MUST attend all the Team Placements held July 4 6, and register online at On Day 1, all athletes will be evaluated on their jumping, stunting, and tumbling skills as well as their overall flexibility and strength. Being positive, hardworking and encouraging make a huge impact on our assessment! On Wednesday July 5 at 11:00 pm, all athletes will receive a Call-Back which will determine which timeslot(s) each athlete needs to attend on Day 2 of the Team Placements (Thursday July 6). On Day 2, we will focus mainly on stunting skills. All competitive athletes must purchase the following NEW gear: Competition Uniform (long top & skirt)... $ shipping Practice Uniform (sports bra, shorts).... $ 74 + shipping Team Bow.... $ 20 Practice T-shirt. $ 22 Make up (eye shadow, lip stain)... $ 20 (approx.) Crossover Fees Should you be on two (2) competitive teams, the additional cost is ONLY $ for the training, choreography and music costs. Plus the competition registration fees, which will be invoiced in December. Gear Payments are due August 31 st (exception: Make-up & Bow) All payments made by Credit Card or Interac will have a 3% processing fee.

Bursaries Rebates $ 50 off if you refer a NEW client to our Competitive Program $ 50 off for having more than 1 child in our Competitive Program $ 50 off if you pay in Full at Registration In October, we re handing out up to $ 500 in bursaries for deserving athletes. This past year, we ve collected over $ 11,000 from fundraisers which helped our athletes reduce their cost by up to $ 850! We ve organized many fundraisers like the selling of cheese, chocolates, popcorn, coupon booklets. As well as car washes, grocery store baggings, scratchy cards, and babysitting nights. We can also provide you with an official sponsorship letter to use. In the past, we ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to promote our club, and the great sport of cheerleading, to our community at city events in the West Island of Montreal. And this summer will be no different. We already have a couple fun events lined up but need our athletes to make them a success! For every event that your athlete attends, you will get a $ 5 rebate on your competitive fees! In , there was over $ 11,000 fundraised for our athletes! Parent Volunteers Without the support of NSX s parent volunteers we would not be where we are today! If you re interested in helping us in creating team bonding for our teams, managing fundraisers or by volunteering at events/competitions, please let us know upon registering your athlete for our competitive program.

Athletes get stronger and advance their skills, individually and as a team, a lot over the summer. With our summer schedule it frees up your weekends so that families can enjoy it together.

8 Tips for a successful season Practices are extremely important as they are a main factor in every team s success throughout the season. We want all of our team s to reach their full potential but it all starts with you All athletes should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their practice. This extra time helps build friendships between teammates and ensures that together everyone is ready to practice! Over the summer, we do want families to enjoy their vacation time and activities, so our summer practice policy is if you are in town, we need you at practice. Athletes get stronger and advance their skills, individually and as a team, a lot over the summer. With our summer schedule it frees up your weekends so that families can enjoy it together. As of September, our competitive practices become MANDATORY. If your athlete is absent from practice, it negatively impacts her team s success. All family vacation dates must be given into the office and approved during Team Registration week to ensure there are no conflicts with the team s competition and practice schedules. The four (4) practices prior to any performance/competition are MANDATORY, and if missed it may affect their position in the routine. In these four practices, the teams will be doing full-outs to prepare them for their performance/competition. So by not having an athlete attend, it WILL negatively affect their performance. We may alter the routine to change any athlete s position if this policy is not met. We may also ask an athlete from another team to replace them. All athlete s who miss a practice, or who will be tardy, must call or the gym in advance to notify the coaches, so that they have ample time to arrange their practice plans. Excessive tardiness, and unexcused absences, may result is removal of our competitive program. All team rosters will be finalized at the end of August. If we feel athletes will be more successful on another team, we may have them switch. All skills demonstrated at Team Placements must be maintained throughout the season. A positive attitude, commitment to the team and hard work are worth much more than any tumbling or stunting skills! To commit to our competitive program all athletes must organize their social & school life so that they do not interfere with their scheduled practices, event and/or competitions. If athletes must miss a practice, event and/or competition, for a social function, homework/studying, or illness (non-contagious), they may be asked to leave the team. Should any athlete miss 2 or more practices, in a row, due to illness, they must present the Office with a valid Doctor s note so that they may not be penalized. All athletes, parents and staff need to model excellent behavior at NSX Gym and at any event while representing North Shore Cheerleading. If athletes are anything but nice, motivated, respectful, positive and have good sportsmanship, they may be penalized. And lastly, all scheduled competitions and events are mandatory. The success of our program depends on everyone attending each event. To have to replace a teammate in the 11th hour is unfair to members of that team. If an athlete cannot work their schedule around these competitions/events, then they may not be allowed to participate on a competitive team. Cheerleading has made a major difference in the lives of my daughters and NSX is a huge part of that.
