Self The Challenge of Being a Triple-Impact Competitor is not easy. It requires mental discipline and knowing your values so well you don t sacrifice them under pressure. But if you build a commitment to being a Triple-Impact Competitor into who you are as a person, you will find it can provide a larger meaning for your involvement in sports. And it will pay off for you in meaningful ways in the rest of your life.
5 ` The Positive Sports Parent EDUCATIONAL ATHLETICS Philosophy BETTER ATHLETES, BETTER PEOPLE extension of classroom - educational climate A parent should: Make no remarks to the referees or to the players, coaches or spectators of the opposing team unless intended to convey genuine interest, friendship or encouragement. Avoid sharp remarks directed to players on your own team who make mistakes on the field. They already know what they have done. Allow them to learn from their mistakes. Applaud superior play by both teams. Support coaches consistently regardless of the results on the court or field. Coaches contribute many hours of their time to your children. They deserve your congratulations when the team wins and your encouragement when it doesn t. Always remain in the spectator area, and away from areas where coaches, players or officials are. A parent must: Never use foul language or obscene gestures at a game. Avoid persistent comments and gestures that express disagreement with referees decisions. Cooperate immediately with any request by the game officials. Any parent who fails to adhere to these standards may be required to leave the playing area.
6 The Positive Sports Parent CONSEQUENCES: If a parent is ejected from a contest by an official or coach, the parent will be required to have a face to face conference with the Athletic Director prior to returning to any PISD Athletic event. In addition, the parent must complete the NFHS course Positive Sport Parenting and turn in their certificate of completion before returning to any PISD athletic event. If multiple incidents occur or a single severe incident occurs, the parent(s) will no longer be allowed into PISD events, and possible criminal trespassing charges can be issued to the spectator for an appropriate time period determined by the administrators.
7 Pre-participation Physical and Rank One Paperwork Athletes must have an annual preparticipation physical on file prior to participation in athletic activity Mandatory Athletic Participation Forms: Parents, for the school year, the required athletic participation paperwork for the UIL and PISD will be completed using electronic forms handled via our Rank One software. All incoming athletes in 7th-12th grades are required to have these forms filled out prior to practice and UIL competition. Please follow the link complete the online forms as soon as possible. You do not have to create a Rank One account to complete the forms but you will need your student s ID number. There are instructions on how to complete the forms on the Rank One webpage the link takes you to. The physical and medical history forms will be the only paper forms to print either from the Rank One site or HERE. The physical form will still need to be submitted to the campus your child will be attending prior to any activity. 8 Grades and UIL Eligibility Eligibility Calendar Athletes are Students First UIL No Pass No Play - ALL grades above a 70 at grade check Thursday 2-15 Re-evaluate failing students (2nd 3 week progress report) Thursday 2-22 Students may regain eligibility (End of School Day.) Friday 3-9 Evaluate all students (End of 3rd quarter) Monday 3-26 Students may gain or lose eligibility (End of School Day.) Friday 4-6 Re-evaluate failing students (1st ---3 week progress report) Friday 4-13 Students may regain eligibility (End of School Day) Friday 4-27 Re-evaluate failing students (2nd ---3 week progress report) Friday 5-4 Students may regain eligibility (End of School Day) Thursday 5-25 End of 4th quarter
9 Athletic Trainer and Injuries Coaches need to be notified if an athlete is injured during practice, game, or other activities if it will interfere with athletics. Coach Henry or Coach Hartman, PISD trainers are available before and after school for consultation and treatment for injuries. The trainers are located at the indoor facility at Prosper High School. A doctor or trainer note will be needed if the injury prevails. Injured athletes are required to be at practice and dressed out. Practices will not have to be made up if the athlete is paying attention and engaged in the practice plan.

13 Track Information Track athletes are expected to be at ALL assigned practices and games. Boys and girls will practice together, unless that specific coach may have specific gender days. 6:30am 7:45am 3:45pm 4:45pm Sprints/Relays, Shot Put, Discus & High Jump, Hurdles, Pole Vault, Triple Jump, Long Jump, Long Distance Athletes should notify a coach prior to missing practice if at all possible. Sickness and emergencies will be considered excused if a coach is notified. If a coach is not notified, the missed practice will be unexcused. 14 Track Information 4pm start: field events and 2400m run 5:30-6:15pm running events. (varies depending on host) ALL athletes are encouraged to support all track events. Transportation is provided to ALL meets with a bus returning to school at conclusion of track meet. Athletes will be permitted to sign out after their LAST event to ride home with parents If athlete is signing out, they must check with either Coach Reed, Forrest or Taylor to make sure that they are not needed as an alternate before signing out with a Roger s Coach (boys sign out with a boys coach and girls sign out with a girls coach). The school provides uniforms and practice gear and the athlete will be responsible for laundering them. We anticipate to get each athlete into 1-4 meets. However, with track the fastest times, farthest throws, and the highest/longest jumps will be participating.

16 Tennis Information Tryout or Participation Expectation: Be on time and attend all practices! Notify Coach Smith if you will be gone If absent from school, please me! Practices start at 3:35 on the Rogers tennis courts. Starting the week of Tuesday February 20, we will start at Rogers then bus over to PHS at about 4 pm (pick up from PHS when practice is over at 5:30) Practices: Every day until 5:30 (except this week - all practices at Rogers until 5 pm) Uniforms: We will provide a shirt, you will need shorts with pockets (or skirt/skort for the ladies)
17 Tennis Information (continued) Matches: - 12 girls and 12 boys play in each match. The top players will play ALL matches (if able) and others should get at least 1 match (match schedule is on next slide). - Our matches start at 4:30 and usually end at about 6:30 (except districts). - Players need to stay until ALL matches are complete! Special circumstances on case-by-case basis.try to arrange carpools if your parents don t want to stay and watch rest of team. There is nothing worse than being the last match on court and your teammates are all gone! - After last match, athletes can be signed out and taken home by parents.

19 Soccer Information Tryout Dates and Times: Tryouts will be April 2nd-6th after school 3:45-5:00. Students will know if they have made the team by 5:30 pm that Friday with their school ID number posted on the soccer website. Practices: Monday-Friday except game day; 3:45-5:00 at Rogers Stadium starting April 16th. Soccer Games: Transportation is provided to ALL games with a bus returning for games. It is mandatory for students to ride the bus to the games, but it is optional for athletes to return on the bus. Athletes will be permitted to sign out after the game to ride home with parents if they need to leave immediately after away games. If an athlete is signing out, they will need to have a parent sign out with one of the coaches. The bus will be available to bring athletes home. The school provides uniforms and practice gear and the athlete will be responsible for laundering them. As of now games are to be determined. Athletes and parents will be notified as soon as possible once the schedule is finalized.
20 Soccer Information Practice and Game Attendance Expectations: Soccer athletes are expected to be at ALL assigned practices and games. Practice will start the week of April 16th. Practice will be from 3:45-5:00 every day after school except for *all practice times and game locations can be found on website and Rogers Athletics Newsletter Unexcused: Dr. Appointments, club/other sport practice/games, dentist appointments, family trips, etc. should not be scheduled during practice time Excused: Other school activities, sickness, death, or family emergencies will be considered excused. If a player misses a practice for any reason then they are ineligible to start the next game. If a player misses a game due to a club game, they will sit out the following game.
