JUNIOR CO-ORDINATORS REPORT Firstly I would like to say a huge thanks to the coaches of our six junior teams this season. To put your hand up at the start of the season is massive and I personally cannot thank you enough. It is a very rewarding and fun role, it s also a long season and often thankless and I have learnt that it is very hard to please everyone. Please know that what you have done for these kids, our cricket club and our community is so important. Kids playing sport (in Monbulk, especially cricket) and then family involvement is what I love to see and why I have been involved at the Monbulk CC for over 30 years. So a huge thanks to Geoff Field, Simon Davis, Chris Defina, Aaron Gillard, Duane Kay, Rohan Piesley, Steve Hooper, Jason Fraser & Tyren Utting. Thanks also to the other assistant coaches and parents for the many roles it takes to run a kids sporting team. We were also very lucky to have amazing team managers that certainly made my job easier and kept our teams well informed. Thanks heaps to Peter Isaac, Rodger Langrish, Steve McDonald, Matt Ryan, Jen Abraham and Jo McIntosh great job. In continuing my Thank-You s, I would like to thank the MCC committee for their support of the Juniors, particularly Bron Badgery for all of the many jobs she performs including registrations, uniforms, as well as with the running of the milo program on a Friday night. Thanks also to our President Daniel Clark who did a terrific job in his first year. He continued our connection with the Melbourne Stars and organised the junior Stars memberships, our trip to the MCG which this year included last year s U12 premiers walking a lap of honour. He also organised our Stars clinic and continually promoted our juniors on our facebook page. The two most important junior awards this season go to Peter Isaac (Best Junior Club person) and Tyren Utting (Jason Fraser Shield). Peter has been a long-time supporter and helper of our juniors, his two boys Tam and Rab both started Milo with us with Rab finishing U16 s this year. This season Peter took on the role of Milo co-ordinator and scored for the U16 s every week your help is much appreciated Peter as are your words of wisdom. Tyren is a worthy winner of the Jason Fraser Shield. He also started his cricket career in our Milo program 10 years ago. TJ loves his cricket, works hard at it and this season was rewarded with selection in the U16 Outer East Eagles (Dowling Shield / State Championship tournament) as well as his debut match in our 1 st XI team. TJ also took on the role as Super 7 (U10) coach with Frase and ran every Tuesday night training while Frase works away. Well done to all of the Monbulk juniors this season. The new formats of Fast 9 and Super 7 s were well received and both teams enjoyed successful and fun seasons. Thank you to the coaches and team mangers of these teams for supporting the new formats and taking on the extra MyCricket duties. Three out of our four competitive teams made finals, with only the U12 s just missing out finishing 5 th on the ladder. Our U16 s and U13 s fought hard against strong opposition to lose their semi-finals. Our U14 s won an exciting semi to make the Grand Final which is a great effort and fantastic reward for the improvement in this group and the dedication of the coaches. Well done Geoff, Rodger and team. This season I coached the U16 s and will be my last for a while, having coached / co-ordinated three years of Milo and seven with junior teams. I will continue with one more year as junior co-ordinator before handing over. Please have a think about taking on this role as a way to help out your kids, our awesome cricket club and our community. I m not going anywhere and will always be around to help. Lastly, I would like to thank my amazing family (Kelly, TJ and Zali) for their support to me and the cricket club which is a big part of our lives. Have a great winter Cheers Steve Utting

Monbulk U / 2018 Coach s Report Congratulations to this season s U16 s, most of whom have now finished their junior cricket careers. This is definitely not the end though with almost all of them playing senior cricket at Monbulk already. I hope they continue to do so for years to come and I look forward to watching them. This was also my final year coaching these boys, most of whom I have coached for the past 10 years starting in 2008 with a few years of Milo and then progressing through our junior teams. They have been a successful group winning the U11 lightning premiership and making the finals the past four season. I have absolutely loved coaching these boys and not only watching their cricket improve but also watching them grow from kids to young men. This season I also captained the 2 nd XI and I had the privilege of playing alongside most of them which was great fun. Our U16 s from this season had some serious talent. Three of them (Tom, Josh and TJ) played a game in our 1 st XI, another three (Brayden, Dylan and Rab) played in our 2 nd XI and then three of them (Sage, Dylan and Joel) managed to qualify for the 4 th XI finals and ended up winning a senior premiership. Congrats boys. This season was the first time for a while that we have had a Division One U16 side. I knew we would be competitive but to win 9 games, finish 3 rd on the ladder and to only lose 2 games to the two top teams was a magnificent effort. We eventually lost our semi-final but fought hard all the way. We certainly had our ups and downs throughout the season, but I know when we played at our best, played team cricket, with the right attitude, we could beat anyone. Well done and thank you to all the U16 s on their efforts at trainings and matches throughout the season. Some of the highlights of the season include: -Our amazing comeback v Knoxfield on the back of Rab s 5/8 off 10 overs and 38 not out. -Dylan s hat-trick and 5/3 v FTG in his first two overs. -The addition of Joel to our team and his improvement over the season due to his hard work. -The leadership and all round skills of Josh and Dylan well done boys. -Our improvement in our running between the wickets (well mostly) -Angus work ethic at training and his bowling improvement. -Tom s batting, which earned him a 1 st XI pre-lim final. -Toby s bowling and cheerful banter -Brayden s batting, concentration and level head. -TJ s handy leg spin and solid opening partnerships -Sage s excellent wicket keeping and handy knocks with the bat. -Isaac (an U13) becoming a regular and important member of our team. A big thanks to all of the parents for your assistance with the boys this season and over the years. I would particularly like to thank Peter Isaac and Ken Utting for your help and words of wisdom this season. Peter was a brilliant scorer all season for our team along with his other roles within our club. Ken umpired for our team this season which was a huge help to me. Thanks also Nic Boundy, Tam Noonan, & Ryan Goldberg who assisting with scoring and umpiring. Thanks again boys, well done, and I hope you enjoy your cricket for years to come. Cheers everyone Go Hawks Steve

Monbulk U / 2018 Coach s Report Round 1 v Ferntree Gully 7th Wally Tew Reserve The season started away v FTG with a one day game, Jett Bolton got us off to a blistering start and we were 1/26 off the first four overs. Jett fell for 16, Nick Taylor 10, Jay Spencer 9 and Josh Langrish top scored with 18. Jake Mackay took 3/6 and Josh Langrish & Barnaby Major-Smith chipped in with a wicket each to secure a 41 run victory that included a good catch behind the stumps by Will Copelin. Round 2 v UFTG 14th MCG Round 2 saw us comprehensively beaten at home by UFTG. Like the prior season, we turned the batting line up upside down to get a feel for how the boys were going and to also give the boys who didn't bat the week before a chance. Jay Spencer and Nick Taylor both scored 10, Josh Langrish 12* and Ollie Grujic top scored with 18*. Jack Loveridge, Nick Taylor and Jay Spencer all got one wicket but it wasn't enough to avoid a 37 run defeat. Round 3 v Rowville Liberty Ave Round three was our first two day game down in Rowville. After a slow start we ended up 3/88 after our first 25 overs and 25 runs ahead at the halfway point of the match. But we collapsed on the second day losing our last five wickets for 17 runs and ended up losing by 11 runs. Jay Spencer 29, Nick Taylor 25 and Jake Mackay 13* were the pick of the batsmen, while Jett Bolton 3/14 and Jake Mackay 2/14 were the pick of the bowlers. Round 4 v Olinda MCG Round 4 saw the league split into two separate groups and we were placed into Division 2. Up next was Olinda in our back yard where we inflicted a 110 run defeat on our closest neighbours in a two day game. Nick Taylor 33 and Jett Bolton 27 were the pick of the batsmen, backed up by Jake Mackay 15 and Josh Langrish 14. Nick Taylor and Connor Schied took two wickets each with six other boys taking a wicket each. Round 5 v Johnson Park 25th Fairview Reserve Round five saw the boys robbed by the weather on the second day of our match v Johnson Park. After our first 25 overs we were 4/107 with Barnaby Major-Smith 20, Jay Spencer 21 (including a blistering drive that went for four) and not out batsmen Nick Taylor on 18 & Will Copelin on 10. Barnaby then backed up with 2/10 with five other boys taking a single wicket each to have Johnson Park 8/82 after their 25 overs. But it wasn't to be; the heavens opened for a once in 17 year storm that lasted for about four days. Round 6 v FTG 9-16 Wally Tew Reserve Round six under overcast skies saw us back at Wally Tew Reserve v FTG. In a bit of a run fest, Jett Bolton top scored with 32 closely followed by Jay Spencer 28, Ollie Grujic 25, Nick Taylor 18 and Will Copelin 15, seeing us finish our fifty overs 9/187. Nathan Stack was the pick of the bowlers with 2/28 showing some impressive pace which led us to a 31 run victory. Round 7 v Upwey-Tecoma 20th Silvan Rec Reserve Round 7 was the first game of the new year and after such a long Christmas break you never know what to expect from the boys! They ended up defeating Upwey-Tecoma by 24 runs in a one day game, but made hard work of it along the way. Josh Langrish saw us home with 25 not out with Nick Taylor scoring 19. Jack Loveridge took 2/7 and they all bowled extremely tight as a unit (and every second young lad was wearing a hair band)! Round 8 v Olinda 27th Kalorama Reserve (the potato chip!) Round 8 was another one day game that saw us towelled up by Olinda at the potato chip ground! Runs from Will Copelin 20, Jake Mackay 19 & Jett Bolton 17 couldn't get us over the line in a 30 run defeat. Pick of the bowlers were Ollie Grujic 1/7 and U13's stand in Camden McLean 1/5.

Round 9 v Johnson Park 3-10th Silvan Rec Reserve Round 9 was an absolute cracking two day game v Johnson Park at Silvan Rec Reserve. Johnson Park finished the first day just ahead of us on 3/98 but we were well placed at 2/90 with Jett Bolton and Nick Taylor still at the crease. On day two, Jett carried on from where he left off, scoring an impressive 50 to retire not out. Josh Langrish ended the game not out on 22, supported by Nathan Stack 15, Jay Spencer 13 and Ollie Grujic 10, helping us to a score of 5/205. Josh Langrish 2/18 & Jack Loveridge 1/6 were the pick of the bowlers, with three run outs that reduced Johnson Park to 8/181 in a hard fought 24 run victory. Round 10 v FTG MCG Round 10 saw us playing FTG for the third time this season. After being 4/13 in the fifth over, the boys recovered to 7/87 after the first day's play. Jett Bolton led the line with 34, but chasing 186 became increasingly hard with the regular loss of wickets. Nick Taylor 15, Will Copelin 14, Ollie Grujic 10, with Jay Spencer 10 not out, ran out of partners and we only managed to bat for 39 overs. Saying that, the boys did rally around each other and heads didn't drop. Jett Bolton 2/11, Ollie Grujic 2/13 and Hamish Strathairn 2/23 were the pick of the bowlers. Round 11 v Upwey-Tecoma 3rd Thomsons Oval Our last game of the regular season was a one day game away at Upwey-Tecoma. Chasing 159 after a less than impressive bowling display on a small ground and being 2/30 off eight overs made it an impossible task. We lost by 28 runs in the end. Nick Taylor 34 not out, Josh Langrish 26 not out and Jamie Turpin 14 were the pick of the batsmen, while Ollie Grujic 0/6, Jack Loveridge 0/5 and Josh Davis 0/10 bowled a tight line. Semi Final v Mazenod MCG After two comprehensive defeats in the final two rounds of the regular season where we finished on the ladder was now out of our own hands. As it happened, both Olinda and Mazenod also suffered defeats meaning we only slipped to second position securing us a home final. Losing the toss Mazenod decided to bowl first putting us into bat. An opening partnership of 46 between Will Copelin 15 & Ollie Grujic 31 put us in good stead and we ended the day three runs ahead and one wicket better off on 2/73. After a fantastic display of full straight bowling, we reduced Mazenod to 9/147 off their fifty overs. Each of the ten bowlers bowled extremely well keeping it very tight and giving very little away. Every bowler was the pick of the bowlers that day, but wickets went to Barnaby Major-Smith 3/9, Josh Langrish 3/14 and Hamish Strathairn 2/18. Needing 74 runs at three runs an over in a semi-final is never easy. At 5/99 in the 37th over Hamish Strathairn joined Jett Bolton at the crease. Hamish & Jett kept the scoreboard ticking over by running quick singles and the odd two but boundaries were hard to come by, even though they did manage to run a four! Then needing 16 off the last four overs, Jett hit three fours and a massive six leaving him 51 not out, and Hamish 20 not out, to give Monbulk a six wicket victory and a place in the Grand Final. Grand Final Sat 17th-18th May v Olinda After losing the toss and being put into bat the boys found themselves 4/59 after the first 25 overs, 28 runs behind but with the same amount of wickets down. On the second day under dark skies Olinda resumed batting and accumulated a score of 9/197. It was always a big total to chase, especially with rain around and after three stoppages for the inclement weather, the game was timed out in the 48th over with us 52 runs behind. Josh Langrish 31 & Jay Spencer 23 top scored with the bat, backed up by Jake Mackay 17, Jett Bolton 13 & Will Copelin 11. Pick of the Bowlers were Nick Taylor 2/18, Nathan Stack 3/24, Jett Bolton 2/31 & Josh Langrish 1/16. We would just like to say how incredibly proud of the boys we are, not only for making the grand final but for how they conducted themselves in defeat. They played the game throughout the season in great spirit, never arguing amongst themselves, back chatting umpires or being overly aggressive towards the opposition. You are a great group of lads and we wish you all the best for future seasons.

Once again it has been a fantastic year for the boys. They have dedicated themselves to the task and the results are there to be seen. I have been with the majority of this group for the last three seasons. It has been inspirational to watch them grow not only as cricketers but also as young men. In the Under 13 s we didn t win a game but they were learning their craft and never stopped trying Under 14 s saw us just beaten in a semi, and that was a sign of things to come. Now getting into a Grand Final is something that they deserve as they all have worked extremely hard. Unfortunately it was a bridge too far but gee they had a real red hot go. To the parents thank you so much for your support. I know it hasn t been easy at times this year but you have all rallied around the process and strategies that Rodger and I have implemented. The one thing that resonates with me and validates what we are trying to achieve with these young men is something an umpire said to me after a game. A game that we had won rather comprehensively by the way. He commented how well behaved they were and respectful of not only him but also the other team. Whilst they play hard and like all teams there is some chatter it never crosses the line. That is something that all of you as parents can be very proud of. Finally I would like to thank a few people who consistently help me and Rodger out each week not only at training but also at the games - The 2 Pauls, Jamie, Kate, Lyn, Craig, Rose & Lynda. If I have missed someone I apologise. You know who you are. Also Simon from the Under 13 s who on a few occasions supplied us with top up players and was an inspiration with his out of the box thinking at training! Bron and Steve who are the heart and soul of the club. Thank you once again. One final thank you to a man who always seems to have a smile on his face (even though he is an English supporter) loves rolling his arm over at training and never lets me down. My assistant coach/manager /statistician/scorer/friend - Rodger. He compiled all the stats from the games in this report and gave an amazing review on each game. Something that is not one of my fortes. Without his enthusiasm and dedication to the cause I would be lost. Thanks Rodge, you are a legend Go Hawks! 13 Monbulk U /2018 Coach s Report The 2017/2018 season has been fun with the under 13 s team. The aim for this season is for the players to improve on their skills from last season, play as a team and enjoy their cricket. We had some player changes from the previous year team with Kira Baxter retiring, and the inclusion of two new players being Jack Vranjes and James Billington. Round 1 Monbulk 2/100 def Lysterfield 10/46: We started the season with an impressive 54 point win over Lysterfield. The team had a great day in the field taking 4 catches and 2 run outs. Charlie Horn took the best bowling figures with 2/0 and there was an even spread of contributors with the bat. Round 2 Mazenod 3/206 defeated Monbulk 10/148: The team for the first time in over a season lost a game of cricket. The first day the team struggled with the bat and ball however on the second day of our innings the team showed some massive heart and outscored Mazenod. The highlights were Camden McLean 2/15 and Jack Vranjes 1/10 with the ball, Jamie Turpin 37 with the bat. In the next two rounds we had the summer storms and the second day of each match was washed out. Round 3 Monbulk 4/94 vs The Basin 4/80 washed out. - We were well positioned to win this game of cricket against a team that played a competitive game of cricket. The team batted and bowled well in the first innings with the highlights being Matthew Abraham 2/5 off 4 overs and Joshua Davis 1/11 off 5 and a great catch at cover by Jack Vranjes. The best batters for the day were Camden McLean 24 and Isacc Hylton- Stewart 31*. Round 4 Upper Ferntree Gully 4/65 vs Monbulk 3/68 washed out: We played Upper Ferntree Gully at their home ground for this match. The grass was long and the runs were hard to come by, which made it a very competitive game. The team fielded well taking two catches and bowled consistently on target. The bowling highlights were Isaac Hylton Stewart with 2/2 and the competitions leading wicket taker from last year Olivia Davis taking her first wicket for the season with 1/10. Matthew Abraham was 33* with the bat. Round 5 Belgrave 2/86 defeated by Monbulk 2/101: Finally the weather decided to play ball, and we were able to build the momentum we had from the previous two washed out rounds and take a hard fought win from Belgrave in Round 5. This match was the last before the Christmas break. Even though the team won, I think they we all looking forward to finishing the school year and enjoying the holidays. The highlights were Alex McDonald (10*) and Tom Donald (9*) batted well against some aggressive bowling from Belgrave to get us over the line. Joshua Davis 1/3 and Moe Handley-Hughes 1/8 bowled well. Round 6 Monbulk drew with Eildon Park: In round 6, we had the opposite to Rounds 3 and 4, it was the heat, and with the leagues heat policy in place this round was cancelled. Round 7 Monbulk 0/90 defeated Mountain Gate 6/73: The first game back from the Christmas Holidays had the team playing second placed Mountain Gate in Round 7. The rain clouds were circling around Monbulk, and thunderstorms were on the way. Mountain Gate won the toss and decided to bat, and after 20 overs set a target of 6/73. The bowling and fielding was excellent with Tom Donald picking up his first wicket of the season, with Olivia Davis finishing with 2/5. In came the Matthew Abraham and Issac Hylton-Stewart show, both hitting 31 and 37 runs respectively. The team made 90 runs off 10 overs winning the match. The lighting arrived in the distance and as per the league policy we exited the ground. Round 8 Lysterfield 4/99 defeated by Monbulk 7/207: The team played a less experienced Lysterfield and had a comfortable win. The Monbulk team played a great game with everyone contributing with the bat and ball. Highlights Moe Handley-Hughes bowling out an opposition batter with the second ball of his first over (it was a ripper) and Joshua Davis 41* and Matthew Abraham 30* top scoring. Round 9 Monbulk 10/111 defeated Mazenod 7/188: We played the top of the table Mazenod and fell well short in the batting. The team was in a great position at the end of day 1 only 15 runs behind with Jamie Turpin keeping exceptionally well. The fielding on day 1 was tight and our bowling was consistently straight but unfortunately dropped off on day 2. Next time we play Mazenod we need to concentrate consistently for both days. The highlight for the day was welcoming our new team member James Billington to Monbulk CC. James had never played competitive cricket before and bowled well with 0/9, but only lasted two balls with the bat.

Round 10 The Basin 3/101 defeated Monbulk 2/91: The last round produced an exciting game against The Basin in a competitive. Alex McDonald set the benchmark in the field and the improvement in Tom Donalds bowling over the season rewarded him with 1/9. There was an even contribution with the bat from the team with James Billington making his first 2 runs. The highlight of the game was at the end when the opposition coach spoke to the team congratulating them on how well they played together as a team, encouraging each other and being respectful to the opposition. I would also like to thank the parents for the support and in particular Steve McDonald (Team Manager and scorer), Marcus McLean (Assistant Coach, legend) and Hugh Abraham helping out at training. 16 Monbulk U /2018 Coach s Report Another season under the sun for our young under 12 cricketers. Another great year with this group of boys who make playing cricket a heap of fun. All of us were looking forward to a really exciting first year of competitive cricket. We started the year off very slowly, I think we were all worried about going out or making a mistake. Whilst we were playing well, we couldn t seem to get a win on the board. That was until we had our first win in the last game before Christmas when we bowled Upwey out of the game with some magnificent bowling. The Upwey coach labelled us as the best bowling team in the competition. This was a huge compliment. After Christmas we continued to play very good cricket and we enjoyed wins against St Johns Tecoma and South Belgrave and suddenly we found ourselves in the top 4 with one game to go. Unfortunately we lost to the bottom team Upwey in the last game and relied on other results that didn t go our way and it meant we missed finals and our season was over. All that aside we had a great year with all of the boys improving significantly, not just with their skills of batting, bowling and fielding but all of the small things in cricket like backing up in the field and when we batted, through to taking more and more catches. Our bowling was good at times as mentioned and frustratingly at times erratic resulting in lots of wides, this made it tough to win games. As for our batting everyone got amongst the runs at different times. Well done to all of the boys on each of your efforts this season, you should all be very proud. Congratulations to Logan on receiving the batting award this season making the most runs and to Will for taking out the bowling with the most wickets. To Gus and Brandon, congratulations to you both for receiving the Coaches awards this season. You both are worthy recipients, whilst this was a really hard decision as we think all the boys are amazing well done to you both. Azza Gillard, you continue to be a champion on and off the field, You provide me so much support and I can t thank you enough, thank you for everything but most of all being a really good buddy. Matt Ryan, thank you for your team management, thanks for all the updates and making sure we knew what was going on. Ben, Max, Paul, Al and Craig (apologies if I missed anyone) thank you for scoring throughout the season. To Steve Utting and Bronwyn Badgery, thank you for all of your coordination and making the junior teams at our Monbulk Cricket Club such a great place. It s a massive job and you both do so much for our great club. Thank you, doesn't seem enough. I do need to thank my wife Bee for all of your support, thanks for everything and allowing me to be up at the club 5 nights a week. I also need to add another massive thank you to my boy Jacob for keeping cricket the constant conversation in our house as well as all your help with preparing for each game. Well done with all your batting and bowling orders and your spreadsheet to make sure everyone was getting an even go.you ve been a good team man and a great sport. To President Daniel Clark and all of the committee at the Monbulk Cricket Club, thank you for all of the support you provide our junior teams, they really are our future and I can t wait to watch these boys grow. We really hope I get to coach these boys again next year and this group stays together next season. Have a great winter boys, don't enjoy your winter sports as much as you love cricket and I will see you all sometime soon. Take Care and Go Monny Funky and Azza

Monbulk Fast 9 (U11) 2017 / 2018 Coach s Report The Fast 9 (Under 11) team had another thoroughly enjoyable year! There were a total of 12 players that played at some point throughout the season, many of which were into their 3 rd year of playing formal cricket but also a few newcomers to the game who did really well which was great see. Once again the coaching duties were a combined role, with Duane, Rohan, Hugh and Steve sharing the load both at training and on game days and Jenny took on the important role as Team Manager. With the new Fast 9 s format being introduced to this age group it meant that it was the first time these kids had to deal with the fact that out is out which of course always throws up an new challenge, but overall this was dealt with extremely well by the kids who all at some point had to deal with the disappointment of going out early. After a slow start losing their first three games quite convincingly, parents and coaches were a little concerned that it may very well be a lean season for the team in terms of wins, but that thought was quickly snuffed out. On an evening down at the Basin in a game intermittently broken up by thunderstorms (that the league apparently weren t happy was played in the conditions that it was - oops), the boys finally broke their losing streak. In a low scoring affair with our team down by 3 runs on the last ball, Fionn flicked one around his pads for four to give the lads their first victory for the season by 1 run! Well this sparked what turned out to be a 5 game winning streak! The kids really started to gain more focus both at training and during the games and the improvement was not only evident in their skills but also in their team comradery. It could clearly be seen from the sidelines that this was a group of kids that were really enjoying their cricket and in particular embracing the bond of being part of a team. We started to see a more even contribution from all players whether it be with their batting, bowling or fielding and the kids were motivated to be working on finer aspects of the game that we were working on at practice i.e. backing up, running between the wickets, good throws back to the keeper / bowler etc. The other notable win during their winning streak was at home in Round 8. With the opposition team batting last and one run down on the final ball, enter Jason with a beauty that took out middle stump and gave the team another one run victory to keep the winning streak going!! All in all it was another fabulous year for this group of kids where their skills improved out of sight but more importantly they had a great time once again! The parents thoroughly enjoyed watching the matches that became even more enjoyable to watch throughout the season as the skill level continued to improve. Thank you to all of the coaching staff who helped out this year (Rohan, Duane, Steve & Hugh) and of course to the Team Manager Jenny, who this year not only had the duty of sending out text messages re games and training sessions, but also took on board the onerous task of inputting all of the stats into MyCricket each week. We would also like thank all of the parents who came out to support the kids each week and helped out in some way, we pretty much always had a good turnout. But most of all congratulations to this great group of kids, we ve all loved being part of your cricket development this year and we hope to see you all back playing again next year! Cheers Steve, Rohan, Duane & Hugh

Monbulk Super 7 s (U10) 2017 / 2018 Coach s Report This season our Under 10 / Super 7 s team played their cricket with a brand new set of playing conditions. * The oval reduced to a maximum size of 40 meters. * The pitch reduced to a 16 metre length. * 7 players on the field while bowling. * 20 overs we batted equally divided amongst each batsman. These new conditions were a massive success and produced some great cricket. Having a shorter pitch helped the younger guys bowl more accurately. With only 7 players on the field it meant the boys bowled more overs, fielded more balls, learnt to back up, chase & improve their throwing. Our batting was a real highlight with some big scores and powerful hitting, as the season went on our running between the wickets reached a terrific standard with the boys sneaking singles after most of their shots! Most players had a go at wicket keeping & tried different things when bowling, one week leg spin was the in thing then the following week it was pace like Billy Stanlake! A huge thanks to Steve Utting for his efforts helping TJ on a Tuesday night at training, the amount of hours Steve puts in to the Monbulk Cricket Club is unbelievable, much appreciated mate. TJ Utting took the boys for Tuesday training & was there for all our Friday night games. TJ is a fantastic role model for the young players and had a hectic schedule of cricket himself playing every Saturday & Sunday. Thanks for giving up your time to coach the boys TJ your efforts were awesome. Our team manager Jo McIntosh was a star and kept us all up to date with the details of our upcoming matches. Jo also started the season scoring and with the new rules this year it meant for a much more detailed score book! As the season continued Jo was able to teach the other parents how to use the new scorebook which wasn t a simple task! Thanks for a great season Jo. To the parents of the players thanks for your support and assistance, there was always someone to help the kids get padded up & fresh fruit during the innings break. Your assistance with doing the scorebook was fantastic & appreciated by Jo & myself. To watch the group improve over the past season was a real thrill, this was the first season of cricket for most of the team & they should all be proud of their efforts. Bailey, Fergus, Finn, Jasper, Jed, Lucas, Mitchell, Thomas & Sasher- it was a pleasure to coach you over the past season & look forward to seeing you all back with the Hawks next year. Jason Fraser.
