5 PATROL EVENT CHECK-IN AT Flag Pole in front of Dinning Hall Objective: Patrol check-in, check equipment and sledge. Location: Flag Pole in front of Dinning Hall Regulations: Patrol Specifications: 1. Natural patrols are suggested. 2. All scouts must be properly dressed for the weather conditions. 3. Each patrol must summit a roster of patrol members at check-in with Scoutmasters signature. 4. Patrol must have sledge, roster, and equipment on checklist at patrol check-in. 5. Patrols must work as a team for maximum score.

6 SLEDGE RACE OBJECTIVE: Patrol must race sledge around course in best time. SCORING: Time LOCATION: Field if snow or road next to Cub World Dinning Hall Rules: 1. The sledge race will be run over a course established by the judges. If the race is run on snow wheels will not be permitted on the sledges. If the race is on a course without snow, wheels must be used on the sledges. 2. A minimum of 3 scouts plus 1 to steer must pull all sledges. Sledges may be pulled by up to a maximum of 7 scouts. No one may ride in the sledge. 3. All individuals running the race must cover the entire course and all of the participants must cross the finish line with the sledge and with the cargo secured on the sledge. Any team that does not follow the complete course will be disqualified. 4. No team will be permitted to race the course more than once. 5. No scout will be permitted to run on two separate teams. 6. Any team needing to borrow a sledge in order to complete the course may do so, with the approval of the troop owning the sledge. However there will be a thirty-second penalty. 7. Any one having skies attached to sledges will be penalized ten to twenty seconds. This will be determined prior to the event. 8. The judges will assess any infractions outlined above.

7 FIRE BUILDING OBJECTIVE: Patrol members find wood to build a fire in order to burn a rope that is approximately 2 feet off the ground. SCORING: Time RULES: Patrol members find wood to build a fire in order to burn the rope. They will only be given three matches in which to start the fire with. FIRST AID MATCHING GAME OBJECTIVE: The patrol will have to match the first aid situation with the proper way to treat it. SCORING: Time and Accuracy RULES: Patrol must work as a team to match each first aid situation with the proper treatment. WOOD CUTTING- TWO MAN SAW OBJECTIVE: To saw one piece of wood using a two man saw. SCORING: Time and Safety (A Priority) RULES: Each patrol will saw a piece of wood using a two man saw. Each member of the patrol must participate in order to receive maximum points.

8 KNOTS AND LASHINGS OBJECTIVE: To repair a section of a ravine bridge by lashing 3 rung ladder, after repairs are made, each scout in the patrol crosses the bridge with the use of safety ties around himself with a bowline knot. SCORING: Time and Accuracy RULES: The patrol must repair the ravine bridge by building a 3 rung ladder, securing guide lines to stake in the ground and to tie a bowline around each scout before he crosses the bridge the patrol repaired. Each member of the patrol must cross the bridge. The following knots must be tied correctly: clove hitch, square lashings, two half hitches, taught line, and bowline. ESTIMATING OBJECTIVE: To determine the height of a tree. SCORING: Accuracy RULES: Patrol must determine the height of the tree in feet. TRACKING OBJECTIVE: To identify 15 animal tracks. SCORING: Time and Accuracy RULES: Each member of the patrol must work together to identify all 15 animal tracks. The patrol will get two minutes to study the tracks.

9 MAP SKILLS OBJECTIVE: To get your lost patrol member safety from point A to point B on a map. SCORING: Accuracy and Time RULES: Each member of the patrol must help in guiding their fellow patrol member safety from point A to Point B on a map. ALL EVENTS MUST HAVE A MINNIMUM OF 4 MEMBERS AND A MAXIMUM OF 8. THE EVENTS WILL BE BASED UPON AVERAGED TIME AND ACCURACY.
