With the holidays upon us, the entire Monocacy Valley Chapter committee would like to wish you all the best that the season has to offer. It is our sincere hope that we all have the opportunity during this special time, to appreciate what is truly important, our families, friends and our God. In Chapter news, our 26 th annual Hunting Heritage banquet in September was a tremendous success. Many thanks to all our attendees, sponsors and donors. Your support is vital to our mission of Save the Habitat, Save the Hunt. The chapter Women in the Outdoors event was held on October 14 th at the Mayberry Game Protective. All in attendance had a great time participating in archery, shotgun and handgun stations. We had the pleasure of introducing some first timers into the shooting sports. As always my door is always open for anyone that would like to learn more about what we do, have any ideas or would like to get more involved. 2 National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) During the past few years, the Monocacy Valley Chapter, NWTF has sponsored or co-sponsored NASP in four Frederick County Schools (Tuscarora High, New Midway Elementary, Windsor Knolls Middle and Kemptown Elementary). We have recently committed our financial support to Lewistown Elementary who will be ordering their equipment in the next few weeks. New Midway Elementary hosted their First Annual 3D Tournament on Saturday, November 18. Approximately 22 students and 15 adults participated; one young student scored an amazing 271 points out of 300 possible. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit their NASP program. We commend the teachers and students for planning for the future recognizing that their supplies will need to be replenished, equipment repaired, etc.. We continue to hear the heart-warming stories about the positive impact the NASP is having on many students and we are proud to play a part in those experiences. Mark your calendars now for the 2018 MD NASP 3D Challenge and the MD NASP Bullseye Tournament to be held on March 17, 2018 at the Carroll County Agricultural Center, 706 Agriculture Center Drive, Westminster, MD.
