Dan will be based in the Rendezvous canteen on Haybridge so please feel free to speak to him about enrichment and register an interest in any of the activities mentioned in this newsletter. 2 Weekly announcements Attendance: A reminder to if you are feeling unwell and feel you cannot continue your studies at college for the day, you need to report to reception so contact can be made with home, where appropriate, to ensure you are supported in getting home safely. Absence reporting: If you are unable to attend college, it is essential you let us know. A polite reminder that when leaving you message could you clearly leave your name and course details. Arrangements for each as follows: King Street: Phone: absences@nct.ac.uk Haybridge Road: Phone: absences@tcat.ac.uk For both sites you can also visit reception to let us know of any planned absences due to university interviews or medical appointments. You will be asked to provide evidence. Class rep training will be taking place 1:30-3:30 on Wednesday 8 th November in E211. Student Council Next week will be student president election week. A number of on both King Street and Haybridge have registered an interest in becoming student president. PowerPoints in your s. Candidates have each put together a Powerpoint explaining why they should be voted in as president. Look out for these Student council meeting for Haybridge will take place this week on Thursday day 9th November at 12:15pm in E201 with Principal Graham Guest attending. The student council meeting for King Street will be taking place on Tuesday 7 th November.

BBC Children in Need Tuesday 17 November 2017 BBC Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over 600 million for young people in the UK.

In order to include all, Dan Blasczyk would like all groups to start thinking about ways in which they could fund raise during the week commencing 13 November.

3 BBC Children in Need Tuesday 17 November 2017 BBC Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over 600 million for young people in the UK. Here at Telford College we would like you to help the charity raise even more money this year. This year s Children in Need will be taking place on Friday, 17 November. In order to include all, Dan Blasczyk would like all groups to start thinking about ways in which they could fund raise during the week commencing 13 November. In previous years, have taken part in face-painting, manicures, hair styling, computer games competitions, car valeting, photo booths, baking and health and fitness testing. If you would like Dan to book a table in Rendezvous, please contact him and please notify Marketing of any events you wish to promote. Staff vs. Students football Match A Staff vs Student football match is being proposed to be held on Tuesday 14th November in the Dome with a 40 minute game starting at 12:10 and finishing at 12:50 allowing staff to get changed and showered. There will be clear rules for the game such as no raised foot, no slide tackles and no bad language. A suggested fee of 5 to play in the match to help raise funds. If you would like to play please let Dan know as soon as possible. This week Haybridge launched there cross charity. Student services staff went around the canteen area at lunchtime asking to vote for a charity that we will now be raising money for throughout the year. Over 300 voted for Severn Trust. The King Street charity for 2017/18 will be Georgia Williams Trust. If you have a fundraising idea please let Dan know and he will support you with your ideas. Let s think of fun ways to raise a lot of money for two fantastic charities.

4 Halloween was a scary success Students and staff were invited to dress up on Tuesday for Halloween to help raise money for charity. Creative media ran a number of activities to help the Halloween themed day run smoothly including a freaky photo booth, guess the name of the deadly spider, what s the weight of the giant pumpkin, how many poisonous sweets in the jar and decorating real/ceramic skulls. Aaron Davis, a student council member who dressed up as the Incredible Hulk, said: My group really enjoyed the day. I think it s good tutors dressed up and wore face paint because it encourages to get involved. It was also good to see selling items in the shop. 6 Football Futures Leadership Day on Wednesday 25 October Haybridge site hosted a Football Futures Leadership Day on Wednesday 25 October. Students from Telford College were amongst those that attended and participated in a variety of workshops and practical sessions throughout the day on topics such as coaching, refereeing and disability. Telford college student is part of Great Britain Archery team Jacob Reid, a student from the Haybridge site, recently represented the Cadet Great Britain Archery team in the World Youth Championships held in Argentina. Pictured below is Jacob (third on the right) in Croatia where he won a Gold Medal in the Cadet Men s Team competition. If you would like to have a go at Archery come along to our sessions in the sports hall on Thursdays from pm with qualified instructors.

For training sessions, if you are a student on King Street a mini bus will pick you up at 4:20pm from King street reception and take you to Haybridge.

7 Football We are running Football Academy training for both male and female. Training takes place on Haybridge every Monday 4:30-6pm with matches taking place on Wednesday s 1:30-4pm. For training sessions, if you are a student on King Street a mini bus will pick you up at 4:20pm from King street reception and take you to Haybridge. You can also play football on Haybridge Campus in the sports dome every Thursday pm. Results Male football B team beat Stoke College 8-4, coming back from being 4-1 down at half time. 10 Every two weeks we will be running a competition in the college newsletter with the winner receiving a prize. Summerhill School in Kingswinford in the West Midlands claimed cameras were intended to combat bullying and vandalism. Parents have said the surveillance is "intrusive" and "creepy" and some children now refuse to use the toilet. The school said "no cameras are directed towards sensitive areas including cubicles or urinals". Do you believe that cameras should be put in school toilets?
