We look forward to having you, as well as your friends and family, join us for great Big Ten football in Evanston this year. Please take a moment to read through this fan guide as it outlines all of the fun of Wildcat football gamedays. We want to make sure you have an outstanding experience at Ryan Field! 3 GAME DAY ACTIVITIES Walk With Us A tradition started in 2006 in memory of the late Randy Walker, fans are invited to line up on Walker Way (northwest corner of Ryan Field) 2.5 hours before each game to welcome the team and coaches when they arrive at Ryan Field. Wildcat Alley Fan Fest Wildcat Alley is the pregame fan fest area located on the field just northeast of Ryan Field. Wildcat Alley opens two hours before kickoff and admission is free for everyone. Wildcat Alley is fun for guests of all ages and features interactive games, face painting, giveaways, Willie the Wildcat, cheerleaders, the NU Marching Band and more. Randy Walker Terrace Randy Walker Terrace is located on the rooftop of the football locker room facility near the north end zone. It opens 90 minutes before kickoff and is open to all ticketed game attendees. Activities for kids will be set up on Walker Terrace throughout the game. NU Marching Band The Wildcat Marching Band has long been recognized as one of the most impressive in the nation. Composed of university students, this great, time-honored organization is known for its high-energy approach to football entertainment. The combination of tremendous spirit with quality playing and sizzling arrangements creates excitement unmatched in any other stadium. 1

4 RYAN FIELD Location: 1501 Central St., Evanston, IL Capacity: 47,130 The excitement of Big Ten and Northwestern football comes alive early on Saturday mornings at Ryan Field. Once game time rolls around, Ryan Field transforms into one of the most electric places to watch college football. ATM: Ryan Field is a cashonly facility, but ATMs are located inside Ryan Field near Gate E, Gate Q and inside Gate N by the base of the ramp on the west side. Credit cards are accepted at the Merchandise Stands. Baby Changing Stations: Baby Changing Stations can be found in the Women s restrooms near the following Sections: 105, 107, 110, 128, 130, 228 and upper 111 and 129. They can be found in the Men s restrooms near Sections 105, upper 111 and upper 108. There are no Family Restrooms. Bike Racks: Bike racks can be found at the north end of Ryan Field between Anderson Hall and Welsh-Ryan as well as between Welsh-Ryan and the Nicolet Football Center. 2 First Aid: First aid is located near Gate R on the west side in the outer concourse. Paramedic stations are also located on the northwest and southeast corners of the playing field. Harris Bank Helper Stations: Harris Bank Helpers can be found near Gate R in the west concourse, Gate E in the east concourse as well as on Randy Walker Terrace. As expert guest services representatives, they can handle guest complaints and provide detailed gameday information. Lost and Found: Recovered items will be taken to the Facilities Office located inside Gate M. Guests who have lost an item can call the Monday after a game to see if their lost item was recovered. Fans can turn in lost-andfound items to any Harris Bank Helper Station. Merchandise Stands: Official Wildcat merchandise and programs are sold at the Merchandise Stands (labeled Novelty Stands ) INSIDE Gates F and Q and OUTSIDE Gates F and N. Programs: Game programs can be found at the Merchandise stands or from a roving program seller. Prohibited Items: Alcohol, food, noisemakers, musical instruments, large purses/ bags/backpacks, coolers, video cameras, large lens cameras, tripods, wine skins, glasses or cans, thermoses, picnic baskets, ice chests,

5 marshmallows, umbrellas and leaflets not approved by NU are NOT allowed in Ryan Field. Disputes should be directed to Gate R. Recycling Bins: Guests are encouraged to recycle their soda and water bottles in the recycling bins throughout the concourse. Re-Entry: Patrons who choose to leave Ryan Field during the game will not be allowed to re-enter. Seatbacks: Seatbacks may be used in the stadium. Special Wildcat seatbacks can be leased for the season from the seatback booth located in the concourse near Section 128. Oversize seatbacks that infringe on other fans are not allowed. Seating Information: When standing on the field looking up into the stands, seats are numbered left to right. Portals enter at rows 9 & 39. Smoking: Smoking is not permitted anywhere in Ryan Field. Additionally, re-entry into the stadium will not be granted. Strollers: Strollers are allowed in Ryan Field but not in the seating area. Strollers may be left at Gate R on the west side of the stadium or Gate E on the east side. Wheelchairs: For Handicap Seating availability, see page 20. Guests that would like to bring in their own wheelchairs but walk to their seats can leave their wheelchairs at Gate E or Gate R. (NU is not liable for them.) Due to liability and insurance issues, NU cannot provide wheelchairs for our gameday guests to use. 3

6 PARKING AND TAILGATING SEASON PASS Ryan Field Parking Lots: The east and west lots are PERMIT-ONLY for season ticket holders with sufficient Priority Points. These lots will open 4 hours prior to kickoff. TAILGATING IS PERMITTED IN THESE LOTS. Covered Lot: The parking garage at the Hospital on Central is also PERMIT-ONLY for season ticket holders who purchase a season parking pass. 4 TAILGATING IS NOT PERMITTED IN THIS LOT. SINGLE GAME Handicap Parking: Limited day-of-game handicap parking spots are available in the front row of the West parking lot. The drop-off area is on Ashland Avenue near Gate Q. These spots are $20 and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Season permit disabled parking is also available. Disabled placard or plates are required. Campus Lots: Unless you hold a season parking pass, you will NOT be allowed to park in Ryan Field s East or West Parking Lots. Additionally, street parking immediately around the stadium is extremely limited, and authorities are vigilant about towing violators. Guests are encouraged to head directly to Northwestern s campus, and the map on pages 6-7 identifies the FREE parking lots on campus from which FREE shuttle buses can take you to and from Ryan Field. TAILGATING IS PERMITTED IN THESE LOTS. FREE Shuttle Buses: Shuttle buses begin running approximately two hours before kickoff and run until one hour after the conclusion of the game. See the map on pages 6-7 for

7 downtown Evanston and Campus pick-up locations. When riding a shuttle bus, please note where you are dropped off and be sure to board a bus in the same location to ensure you return to the correct lot after the game. Public Transportation: Fans can also take public transportation to Ryan Field as the CTA Purple Line stops at Central Street where you can walk three blocks west on Central Street to the stadium. The Metra Union Pacific North Line from downtown Chicago and Kenosha, Wis., stops at Central Street where you can walk three blocks east on Central to the stadium. Oversized Vehicle Parking: Recreational Vehicle parking is $40/day and located in the lot closest to Lake Michigan on Northwestern s campus. Take Sheridan Rd. to Lincoln Ave. and go east on Lincoln. Follow the road around to the RV lot. Overnight parking is permitted. Charter Bus Parking: Charter and School buses should pick up/ drop off on Ashland Ave. north of Walker Way. Buses should proceed to Evanston Plaza on the corner of Dempster and Dodge (3.29 miles). Buses may return for pick up 30 minutes after the game concludes. 5

The stops labeled S on the map indicate where the Downtown Evanston shuttle picks up and drops off. The stops labeled C on the map indicate where the Campus shuttle picks up and drops off. Both shuttles begin running two hours before kickoff and will take passengers to and from Ryan Field. When boarding a shuttle on Ashland Ave. to return to your vehicle after the game, please note that Downtown Evanston shuttles pick up north of Walker Way and Campus shuttles pick up south of Walker Way. 7

Exit on Skokie Blvd. and turn left at the stoplight at Lake Ave. Go east on Lake to Green Bay Road. Turn right and proceed south to Central Street. 17 TICKET ORDERING PROCESS AND OPTIONS How should I buy tickets? To purchase tickets at any hour of the day or night, fans should go online to NUsports.com. For complex orders or other ticket questions, fans should call the Northwestern Ticket Office at (CATS). Lines are open Monday Friday, 9 a.m. 5 p.m. and until 7 p.m. the Thursday before home games. To purchase tickets without any additional processing fees, fans should go to the Northwestern Ticket Office located at the south end of Ryan Field (1501 Central St., Evanston, IL 60208). The Ticket Office is open Monday Friday, 9a.m. 5p.m. and until 7 p.m. the Thursday before home games. The Ticket Office also opens three hours before kickoff on game days. Quick Tips When Ordering All fans, regardless of age, must have a ticket to the game. Opposing teams fans tend to sit on the East side of the stadium near their team bench (Sections ). See pages for the various ticket offerings. Northwestern accepts Visa, Mastercard or American Express as well as cash and checks made payable to Northwestern University. 21 NORTHWESTERN TO PLAY AT WRIGLEY FIELD ON NOVEMBER 20, 2010 The Northwestern Wildcats football team will host the University of Illinois at Wrigley Field on Saturday, Nov. 20, The matchup will mark the first college football game at Wrigley Field since 1938 and the first football game of any kind at the Friendly Confines since the Chicago Bears last played there in December of Tickets for this game are available through the Northwestern Ticket Office. In order to guarantee a ticket for the November 20th game, fans must purchase season tickets for Northwestern s five home games at Ryan Field. More information on Season Tickets can be found on page 16. Season ticket holders can purchase two tickets per season ticket held to the Northwestern game at Wrigley Field. For example, if you have four season tickets, you are guaranteed eight tickets to the game at Wrigley Field. There are multiple prices for the Wrigley game: $50, $75, $100, $125, $150. There are limited quantities in each price level. If a price level that you have requested is exhausted, you will automatically be assigned the next price level down and refunded the difference. Seating for the Northwestern game at Wrigley Field will be determined based on Priority Points. 19

22 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 20 Can I buy tickets on the day of the game and where? Tickets may be purchased on the day of the game at multiple locations around the stadium as long as supplies last: Gate K on the South end of the stadium, Gate M on West side of the stadium and Gate E on East side of the stadium. What if I moved since I bought my tickets? Requests for tickets to be shipped to a new address must be made in writing. In order to make such a request, please cat-tix@northwestern.edu and include your name, customer number, previous address, and the new address to which you would like the tickets shipped. In addition, please indicate if this is a permanent change to your account. Where is the handicap seating? Handicap seating is located along either sideline in sections 126, or Seating on the wheelchair platform is limited to one wheelchair and one companion seat. What if I lost or forgot my tickets on the day of the game? If you arrive at Ryan Field without your game tickets, please proceed to gate K (south end of Ryan Field) and locate the Ticket Services window. At this window you will be able to pay for duplicate tickets (same seat location) at FULL FACE VALUE. The Northwestern Athletic Ticket Office will charge full price for each replacement ticket issued. This includes tickets that are lost, stolen, left at home or destroyed. If the original tickets and duplicates are returned to the ticket office within 30 days of the event in full and unused form a refund will be issued for full price less a $5.00 per ticket fee. This service is available to season ticket holders, single game mail order customers and telephone buyers of record. It DOES NOT apply to overthe-counter purchases since no location record exists for those orders or for the purposes of passing tickets along to third parties. Can I sit with Northwestern fans or the visiting team fans? Although there are no designated sections for Northwestern or visiting team fans, you may request which sideline you would prefer to sit along. Northwestern s football team stands along the west sideline while the visiting team is along the east sideline.

23 Will my tickets be sent to me and when? Tickets will be mailed at least two to three weeks prior to an event. All tickets purchased more than 10 days in advance of the event have the option of being mailed. All tickets purchased within 10 days of the event will automatically be placed in Will Call. Any customer can choose to have tickets placed in Will Call at any time. What time do Wildcat football games kick off? The Northwestern vs. Purdue game is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on October 9. The NU vs. Michigan State game on October 23 will kick off at 11 a.m. CT.
