1 Nuusbrief 26 September Newsletter 26 September 2017 DIE MEES SUIDELIKE GHOLFBAAN IN AFRIKA THE SOUTHERNMOST GOLF COURSE IN AFRICA Liewe gholfvriende / Hierdie nuusbrief is propvol aktiwiteite en gebeurlikhede. Die nuwe komitee is ingedeel in hul portefeuljes en die subkomitees waarin hul dien. Daar word omtrent gewoel want die komitee droom groot en beter en lekkerder. Sien bladsy 5. Ons klub het ook n Bolandse gholfkampioen opgelewer hierdie maand. Sien berig op bl 6. Verder is daar wonderlike kompetisies wat wag in die toekoms, sien berig op bl 2 & 4. Dan word daar ook n dans en ete gereël in ons saal vir 1 Desember. Sien berig op bl 7. Welkome nuus is dat ons n nuwe eetplek in ons klub kry, n half way house wat ook oop sal wees vir die publiek. Sien berig op bladsye 5 & 6. So tree nader mense want ons almal maak Gansbaai se gholfklub lekker! Dear golf friends/ This newsletter is brimming with news and events. The new committee portfolios as well as the subcommittees have been sorted out. There is a flurry of activity as the new committee dreams bigger better and lekkerder (nicer). See page 5. Our club also produced a Boland golf champion this month. See insert on page 6. Add to this wonderful competitions planned.see pages 2 & 4. On the social front a dinner dance is on the cards in our hall for 1 December. More on page 7. Welcome news is that a halfway house eatery is opening where the public will also be welcome. René won both the Open and the Closed C Divisions of the Boland Ladies Amateur Championships. We have a champion in our midst!

Both Open and Closed Divisions resulted in ladies from all over South Africa entering the championship. There were 3 divisions A, B and C. The latter was for ladies with handicaps 19 to 33.

The Boland Ladies Amateur Golf Cham pionship was held at Hermanus from Sat 16 to Tues 19 September. Both Open and Closed Divisions resulted in ladies from all over South Africa entering the championship. There were 3 divisions A, B and C. The latter was for ladies with handicaps 19 to 33. The format was Single Stableford. The first day was a battle against the elements with soaking rain the night before making playing conditions on Saturday quite challenging. René Played 32 points on the first day and 35 points on the second day and won the C Division, both in the Open and Closed Categories. A hearty congratulations René, we are so proud of you. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Gansbaai ladies to network and our club certainly made an impression. We are keen to recruit more ladies for our golf club so hopefully this excellent result will serve as motivation.

Here are a few that need addressing...as noticed on our greens. 1. Do not throw or drop the flagstick on the green, the greens are soft and will show the marks. Please make your fellow golfer who has cultured this bad habit aware of this. 2. In the same light do not smack the green with your club when you had a bad put. This is even more damaging. 3. Please do place the flagstick back securely in the cup, you may erode the cup edge if the flag is left leaning at a slant after careless replacement. 4. And finally please do not leave any cigarette buts on or near the green. Daar is sekere etiket reëls wat van tyd tot tyd weer onder gholfspelers se aandag gebring moet word. Hier is n paar slegtes wat by ons setperke opgemerk word. 1. Moet nie die vlagpaal op die setperk laat val of gooi nie, die setperk is sag en dit los merke. Maak asseblief jou mede gholfer wat reeds hierdie slegte gewoonte aangekweek het, hierop bedag. 2. In dieselfde lig, moenie die setperk met jou klub slaan na n slegte set nie, die skade is selfs nog groter. 3. Plaas die vlagpaal asseblief versigtig terug in die bekertjie, mens kan die rand van die gaatjie beskadig as die vlag skeef terug geplaas word as gevolg van onverskilligheid. 4.
