1 GANSBAAI GOLF CLUB / GHOLFKLUB Nuusbrief 26 March Newsletter 26 Maart 2018 DIE MEES SUIDELIKE GHOLFBAAN IN AFRIKA THE SOUTHERNMOST GOLF COURSE IN AFRICA Beste gholfvriende Ons wens almal n vreugdevolle en vernuwende Paastyd toe. Die Hoenderplus Sundowner kompetisie gespeel op 9 Maart was so n wenner dat ons dit nou heeljaar eenkeer per maand sal aanbied. In die winter sal ons die afslaantyd na 2 nm vervroeg. Sien die kompetisielys op bl 2 vir die volgende Sundowner. Ons baanpersoneel het baie hard gewerk om die Hollow Tining hierdie afgelope week af te handel. Ons bedank almal wat hierby betrokke was vir hul harde werk. Die mooi setperke hou nou belofte in om nog meer te pronk. Dear golf friends We wish you all a joyful and fulfilling Easter. On 9 March we had the first Hoenderplus Sundowner competition. It was such a winner that we will repeat it once a month. In winter the tee off time will change to 2pm. See the competition schedule on the next page for the next Sundowner competition. Our course staff worked very hard this past week to complete the Hollow Tining. CODE OF CONDUCT A code of conduct has been drawn up and is close to finalization. All members will be required to sign this once it has been approved by the committee.

Congratulations, what an encouraging start! We know you can bring it home guys! We are still waiting for a team photo, they are really camera shy this year. CODE OF CONDUCT A code of conduct has been drawn up and is close to finalization. All members will be required to sign this once it has been approved by the committee. The code of conduct will also be displayed in the clubhouse. GEDRAGSKODE n Gedragskode is opgetrek en is byna gereed. Alle lede sal gevra word om die dokument te onderteken sodra dit deur die komitee goedgekeur is. Hierdie gedragskode sal ook in die klubhuis vertoon word. AUF WIEDERSEHN Once every year for about three months, Toni and Lauri Sauter from Zurich in Switzerland stay here to play golf at our course and to also soak up some sun during their winter. This week they left again, so it was time to say auf wiedersehn. They have become a familiar sight on our course and we are reluctant to bid them farewell. Both are formidable golf players and frequently won prizes at our competitions. See club championships on pg 3. Go well friends, see you next year. REASON TO BE PROUD You may remember that our worker, Welcome Wilana s daughter, Andisiloe, was granted a bursary to study at the Bloemfontein university based on her excellent school matriculation results. Club members spontaneously contributed some monies towards her first year S&T. Well she has done extremely well in her studies the past three years, reaping in distinctions. She is now graduating with a Public Administration degree. Hearty congratulations to Welcome and Andisiloe. You have reason to be proud! We wish Andisiloe all the best for her future. Welcome has been working for us since 2005 assisting with the upkeep of the course.

But all turn is not created equal. If you focus only on turning the shoulders and not how they turn, you're missing one of the key elements that separates you from the players on tour. For many golfers, the tendency is to turn the shoulders relatively level, as if you were turning to look behind you to talk to someone (below, right). But tour players tilt their shoulders in addition to turning them. SwingTRU recorded the pros at 36 degrees of downward shoulder tilt at the top of the backswing and highhandicappers at 29.6 degrees. What does that mean for you? Feel like your front shoulder moves directly toward the ground on your backswing (image left).
