(Ebbe-Jacques) U10 Hockey girls Shine! Time flies when you are having fun! We can t believe we have reached the end of the first part of the season! Well done to all the u/10 hockey girls! Your willingness and enthusiasm is electric! Well done. U/14 B Hockey Tour to Hermanus (24 25 May) The U/14 Bees and Bulldogs went on tour to Hermanus from May. Excitement hung in the air as we packed the busses. We left the school grounds, buckled up, ready for an awesome experience. Ons het by die Windsor Hotel gebly. Die hotel is langs die see, en die uitsig is pragtig. Nadat ons uitgepak het, het ons n bietjie spanbou gedoen. Die tyd het spoedig verbygegaan. Each team played 5 games in the tournament. The results were as follows: U/14 Boys (aka Bulldogs): won 3, drew 1, lost 1 U/14 Girls (aka Bees): won 1, drew 3, lost 1 Dit was n wonderlike toer wat ons beslis nooit sal vergeet nie.
Photos from the U14B team tour! 1st Team Boys vs Beaumont On the 29th of May the 1st team boys took on Beaumont s first team in a head to head match. The boys played well as a team. There were many opportunities to score for both sides, but Kenridge took the lead first by scoring a great deflection goal off a short corner. Beaumont replied quickly with an equaliser in the first half. No goals were scored in the second half although there were many opportunities and some fantastic saves on both sides. The game ended in a 1-1 draw with both teams playing well. Report written by Cameron Abegglen Score: 2 0 Boys First Team 22 May 2014 Kenridge vs Van Riebeek Strand 30-16:30 With perfect weather conditions and an outstanding setting the game was set to be one to be enjoyed. Charged with enthusiasm after our war cry and the promise of a milkshake from Mrs Smith, we played as a well oiled unit, letting no goals in but scoring 3, well 2 goals, as one was just outside the D. Keeping to our positions and passing as instructed we achieved team success once again. Written by: Grant Rousseau U8C Show their Wonderful Sportsmanship! The U/8C team beat Panorama 4-0 on Tuesday, 27 May at Panorama Primary. Good team work and fantastic sportsmanship resulted in this very positive outcome. Well done, boys and thank you parents for your wonderful support!
The U8B Boys Show Their Character! The U8B Boys got off to a rocky start in their game against Panorama this week. Panorama took an early lead and was the stronger side during the first half. Kenridge could not get it together and Rhys Darwood and Scott Gordon worked hard to keep the goals out. Half time came and Kenridge were down 2-0 Just before half time Nathan Rajh took a hard blow to the knee and was unable to continue. He had played well and was replaced by Zeke Petersen. After a few encouraging words from their coach, Mrs Du Preez, the boys dug deep and started to get into the game. After some great passes from Joel Brown and Matthew Jones, Zeke Petersen was able to connect with the ball and scored. The Boys were now amped and soon afterwards another goal was scored this time by Hein van Heerden. Panorama fought back, but the teams remained tied. What started as a difficult game for Kenridge ended up being one that showed that Kenridge kids really do have character!!!! U12 Boys Have a Brilliant Start to 2014! This year the U12 boys have really found their groove! The A team has played a few half field and a few full field games. So far, they have proven a force to be reconed with they are unbeaten with 35 goals scored and onl y 1 conceeded all season. The B team has had some really tough opposition, often playing the A team of other schools. So far, they too have not lost a game, holding a few tough schools to draws. The C team has played as many games and played very hard. They even played U14 s and held their own! This group of boys is incedibly supportive of each other the photo below being the A team cheering the B team at the first match against Eversdal. Mr Apps, Mr Aldrich and Mrs Muller have been fantastic in improving skills and getting the boys to work as a team. We look forward to next term! Beaumont Day
The boys had lots of fun at our U/7 and U/8 mini hockey festival Mrs Du Preez and her boys Thank you to Leapfrog and Intercare for the sponsorship of the water bottles which each child received.
The girls loved every moment of the U/7 and U/8 mini hockey Attack! festival Span praatjie met die meisies BOOM! For this DYNAMITE TEAM! Ready for the ball Thank you to Canal Walk for the sponsorship of goodie bags and a voucher for our raffle.
15 May 2014 Kenridge vs Gene Louw Boys First Team Match Kenridge played very well and beat Gene Louw 2-0. Our defenders were determined in their defence and successfully blocked many shots at goal. The links put excellent passes through to the strikers who played their roles perfectly. The nail-biting short corners gave us an opportunity to score one of the two goals. Together with great guidance from our coaches, the team played very well. Report written by: Nicholas Day Boys First Team - Bridge House Tournament Not a cloud in the sky and a whole morning of playing hockey, what more could one ask for? Well, maybe a 1/0 victory against Bridge House B would go down well! By now the boys were smiling and feeling confident for the next game against Hugo Rust. We put that one in the bag with a 2/0 victory. Mrs Smith asked us to calm down and play the game. We knew facing Bridge House A was going to be tough and the boys settled down slightly and clinched a 1/0 victory. The famous Somerset House was up next and we wanted this one badly. Sadly we had to settle for a draw. Both teams were not willing to let go and we were evenly matched all the way. The match was meant to last 16 min, but even the umpire forgot about the time and we played for 22 min before the final whistle blew. The boys came off the field with heads held high knowing that they had given their all. We will simply have to settle this some other time this year. Paul Rossouw Photo: Mrs Sarina Swart U7B Win Their First EVER Match! 6 very excited little hockey players took to the Eversdal fields to play their first hockey match ever. The conditions were cold and damp but these future stars played with fire and determination! The picture left was taken shortly before Riley Friedrich was passed the ball and scored the 2 nd of the teams 3 goals. They won 3-1!
O/11 Dogtershokkie Die O/11 dogters het n baie besige en opwindende hokkiekwartaal agter die rug. Die seisoen het begin met die A- span wat Brons-medaljes gewen het by die Waltons Somerset House toernooi. League matches have been played against Eversdal, Chesterhouse, Gene Louw, Van Riebeeckstrand, Parow North, Panorama, De Tyger and Elkanah House. 4 teams played in the U/11 Zonal festival hosted by Kenridge. This term our focus was to get used to an 8-a-side team and some new rules played from U/11 level. We also worked on basic skills like dribbling, passing en goalshooting. The girls were focused and determined to do their best. Even though it was a cold day, the girls heated up the field with lots of action. Well done to all the girls for good sportsmanship and determination. The coaches are looking forward to the second part of the hockey season. From Left top Good sportsmanship ; Wynberg Superskills ; Tatum Nicolay beats a defender ; Juffrou Engelbrecht en die A span ; Julia Thomas in aksie ; Chloe Bosman giving her all ; Mrs Christy and the D-team ; Juffrou Engelbrecht en die B-span ; Mrs Christy and the C-team.
U9 Boys Have a Great Start to the Season There is a huge group of U9 boys this year and fortunately a number of them have had an opportunity to play a game. The boys who have played matches have had fun, played in different positions and learnt quite a few new skills. Their fitness has definitely improved, thanks to Mr Hill and Mr Chandler doing their hectic fitness. The inter schools day against Beaumont was a fun day and probably the highlight of the term as there was so much parent, grandparent and sibling support. The attached photo is of the U9A team who won their match against Beaumont. The weather has been very kind to us this term and we look forward to many more dry days and the opportunity for more boys to have a chance to play a game. Well done to all the boys who have not missed a single practise this term. Keep it up! Mrs Hill, U9 coach U9A who won against Beaumont! U8A Team Boys have an Unbeaten Run After an undefeated run at the Kenridge Hockey Festival, the u8a Boys' team took to the field again against Panorama on Tuesday 27th May. Kenridge got off to a slow start and soon went down 1-0. However, good team work and some excellent defending by Matt & Connor resulted in the ball being moved up the field on numerous occasions & 4 goals being scored by Kenridge. Goals by: Luke Abrahamse & Noah Eardley Final score: Kenridge 4 Panorama 1 ******** The A team returned to their winning ways with a 'goal feast' against Bastion. Kenridge scored quickly with a well - worked goal by Noah. Good passing and team work between Noah, Collin-Paul and Christopher led to 3 more goals being scored in quick succession. In the second half, Bastion began to put a bit more pressure on the Kenridge defence but Matt and Luke kept them at bay. Quick turn-around ball meant that Luke, Benjamin, Collin- Paul, Christopher and Noah all managed to score goals. Good team work Kenridge! Final score: 10-0 U8A in Action! From the Editor.. The U12C team played good team hockey on Saturday against Beaumont winning the game 3-0.Well done girls! Remember all reports and photos can be sent directly to me at ktmade@gmail.com. The more we have, the better the report will be! Every child deserves to have his or her picture in this report so keep the photos coming! Katie Craddock(U12 boy Mom)
