By now all residents should have received their Parking Tickets (ONLY those entering from the Main gate in Old JHB road) as well as 6 Season Tickets which will allow you and your family or friends to enjoy the tournament. Quite a lot of preparation has gone into getting the course ready for the event and we hope that you will enjoy the tournament with us. Please also read the Chairman's and Estate Managers's Reports for further information in this regard. Some residents have enquired about recycling bins in the Estate and although there are some available at the main gate, some companies offer to pick up your recycled items at your residence at a nominal fee. I have notice a well-known recycling company's truck in Jones Creek recently and we do encourage all residents to consider the environment and start recycling. By spending an extra three minutes a day on one easy activity, you will create jobs, decrease carbon consumption, increase free land space, reduce pollution, and save energy! Feel free to contact us should you require their contact details. We would like to remind all residents that unattended children are not allowed on the golf course at all times especially not while golfers are playing. Please make sure your small children are aware of this rule to avoid an unpleasant situation! This tournament continues until the 4 th of November During this event residents are asked to: Lock houses and garages. Minimize visits and deliveries during this period. For more information on the tournament visit: The October board meeting was attended by our Ward councilor Ina Strydom. Various issues affecting our Estate were discussed and she is currently in the process to help us upgrade the traffic light on the corner of Ashwood and Hans Strydom to a 3 phase turning facility. Councilor Ina Strydom is actively involved in the Centurion community and it was encouraging to see the positive changes she is bringing about and all the projects that she is busy with. She has this no-nonsense attitude and if she sees something wrong she fixes it. As home owners, neighbours and a community of friends, let us speak up when something in our community is skewed, let s talk about it and then let s take hands and fix it. Estate Greetings Hannes Struyweg FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER Residents are making use of Pieter van der Merwe s (our handyman) services more and more and we thank you for your support. Remember no job is too small or too big for Pieter and residents can phone him on for assistance. We have two Board vacancies. One for the Communication s portfolio and the other to assist with the Risk management of the Estate. If you are interested or knows of someone that might be interested than please let me know. Three companies are using the Zwartkop logo and the Board would like to change the ZHOA logo to prevent any future confusion by outsiders as to which company they are dealing with. A R1000 reward is offered for anyone that can come up with a new logo that the Board accepts. Remember that the new logo should not deviate too much from the existing one but on the other hand include unique features

3 that distinguishes our logo from the rest. Please submit your ideas to the office. The following information regarding the upcoming golf tournament: Together with the Zwartkop Country Club we prepared a security plan and this plan was approved by the Board at it s last meeting. Residents at Jones Creek, Vardon Fairways and Hagen Greens have received a special parking ticket, which must be displayed in their vehicle windshield for the period of the tournament in order to be identified and being let in as temporary security guards are not familiar with the residents. Residents/tenants will follow the same pre-booking procedures as is currently implemented. Please keep deliveries and repair bookings to a minimum during this period. Security personnel will be deployed between the houses and entrances to Vardon Fairways and Jones Creek entrances to ensure no unlawful person enters the residential areas. Security personnel will monitor the perimeter cameras during the course of the tournament to ensure no unlawful persons enter the Estate. Club members will be directed and allowed to park on designated grass verge in front of the main entrance. In case of clubhouse parking overflow this area will be designated for VIP S as well. Clubhouse parking inside the Estate will only apply to people with accredited access cards supplied by the ZCC. Please make sure of the free season tickets and enjoy the tournament with us! Regards Rob Wesseloo Estate Manager SECURITY REPORT The Zwartkop Golf Estate HOA would like to congratulate Emily Buthelezi for being nominated as employee of the month. Emily Buthelezi is employed as a security officer at the Estate since 2010 and she is also one of our CCTV Control room operators with good experience in the field. On 18 September 2012 at approximately 23h00 Emily was on duty in the Control room when she noticed four suspects on one of the CCTV cameras gathering underneath a storm water bridge in Ashwood Street. These suspects were clearly up to no good and planning on how to enter the Estate and probably commit a serious crime. Emily reacted quickly by deploying security officers to the area and she notified the armed response units. The suspects immediately fled into the open veld when security guards and Monitor Net armed response arrived on the scene. Emily s awareness and quick response in the control room resulted in scaring off these 'would be' thieves and foiling their plans in committing a possible crime in the Estate. 4 ESTATE BIRDING BROWN-HOODED KINGFISHER There are 10 different Kingfisher species in Southern Africa of which at least 4 are regularly seen here in the Zwartkop Golf Estate. A specie which adapted well to parks and developed gardens and is also a permanent resident here in our Estate is the Brown-hooded Kingfisher. These birds are known for pairs sticking together and may hold the same territory for several years. David Owen from Nelson Woods was so kind as to send us this beautiful picture he took of a Brown-hooded Kingfisher which he spotted near the 7th green. These birds are rather inconspicuous. If you are birding in the Estate and hear a bird call sounding like pity for me just look around at the edge of overhanging trees or amongst the lower branches. If you are lucky you will see a Brown-hooded Kingfisher. And, if you are patient you will probably see it dropping to the ground to catch anything to eat from insects, lizards, crabs, small rodents and even small snakes and small birds. Residents with fish ponds can relax - although they are called Kingfishers and are found close to water, they very rarely catch fish. All Kingfishers are beautiful colourful birds, though the Brown-hooded Kingfisher is probably the less colourful of them all. The sexes look more or less the same with the male having a black back and with the female a brown one. Young ones resemble the female. The wings and tail are a light bright blue and the bill and feet red. When you see these birds parading with open wings, acting like ballerinas, nodding heads up and down calling each other, you can be sure it is breading time. The male and female build an elaborate nest with a tunnel of 1 meter long in for instance a river bank in which the female lay up to six eggs which takes 14 days to hatch.
