65 AMBROSE COMPETITION: Each player plays a shot from the tee. Go to the chosen ball which is then marked. It can be lifted and cleaned at this time. The other players retrieve their balls and place them within one club length of the marker and play their shot. This also applies if the chosen ball is on the first cut of the rough or in the rough. If the chosen ball is in a bunker, then the playing partners must drop their ball in the bunker, however they can rake and clean that part of the bunker prior to dropping their ball and having their shot. The order of playing is as in ready golf, that is, the owner of the chosen ball does not have to play his or her shot first. 2 and 3 BALL AMBROSE: (1/4) of the combined Handicaps 4, 5 & 6 BALL AMBROSE: (1/8) of the combined handicaps. 63

66 PAR: (Single Standard Scratch) (Full Handicap.) In par, the score is entered on the card in the same way as in stroke play, with the exception that, where the score exceeds par for the hole, after allowing for handicap, The score need not be written down. After entering the stroke score on the card, the result is marked in the column provided, with a + sign for a win, and a 0 sign for half and a sign for a loss. At the end of the round the plus and minus signs are added and the highest nett score is the winner. It is the custom that, when the player is beaten by par, The ball shall be picked up. This helps speed up play. MEDLEY COMPETITION: (Full Handicap) Played as a four ball event two men or two ladies or a man and a lady may pair. Men and ladies use their own stroke index and their own tee. MIXED FOUR BALL BEST BALL V PAR OR STABLEFORD: These games are played as described previously, except that the lady plays from her own tee and the better result is entered on the score card. Care must be taken to head the columns with the play s initials 64

67 FOURSOMES: (1/2) of the combined handicaps. Two Players play as partners and use one ball. They play alternatively from each tee and alternatively during the play at each hole. Scoring is the same as a stroke event. Note: If either player incurs a penalty stroke it does not alter the rotation of play. In a Foursomes Stroke Play competition, which consists of more than one stipulated round, the order of play may be changed between rounds unless the committee has laid down as a condition of play that the original order of play be preserved. CHAPMAN FOURSOMES: (3/8) of the combined Handicaps). Both players play tee shots at each hole, and then play a second stroke with their own ball. One ball is then selected and play proceeds as in foursomes with the partner of the ball selected playing the third shot. AMERICAN FOURSOME: (3/8) of the combined handicaps. 68 ECLECTIC: Competitors play two or more rounds and the eclectic score is the lowest score obtained at each hole on the round. Sometimes the competitors extend over the whole season and the total score for the holes is subject to deduction of half the player s handicap on the last day of competition ROBINSON CUP: A competition played in central Queensland at clubs to be decided on at the Central Queensland Meeting on a rostered basis. Each club is restricted to two teams of five players per team if played on grass greens, two teams of four players per team if played on sand greens. Handicap limited is 24. The best three nett scores to count. In the event of a tie, the fourth player s score to count, then the fifth. Trophies donated by Central Queensland Golf Association for the Robinson Cup. Trophies for the best gross, and runner up, best nett, and runner up and pin shots. CANADIAN FOURSOMES: (3/8) of the combined handicaps. Players both play tee shots at every hole and then continue with which ever ball they nominate as in foursomes. 66
