1 NEWSLETTER June 2015 Dear Members, At Last!!!! Looks like summer has finally arrived thankfully. It has been an extraordinarily long winter/spring and has remained cold, wet and windy for far too long. This has affected our golf course which was desperate for some warmth to help the growth and color. I m sure you ll soon see a difference in the overall appearance and its playability. We have the Premiers trophy on June 3 rd for the first time on many years so we are pleased that he has chosen Tuckers Point to host his event. The men s V ladies match is on the 6 th which I m sure will bring out the best competitive spirit in both teams. 2 This year s winners will have the bragging rights and also in true Augusta tradition, get to choose the menu for next year s event!! Please come along and enjoy our sundown series, as it is a way of meeting new and old members and creates a better club spirit. It is a fun event followed by some drinks and maybe a social meal? We have great teaching facilities here indoor and outdoor so my advice for June is to take advantage of our pros and drop 5 shots from your handicap. I assure you this is easily done without too much effort!! The tennis section continues to thrive with the clinics being sold out very quickly. The pros are working relentlessly to insure we have the best lessons/clinics in Bermuda. Invite you friends to come try the new user friendly Tuckers Point club and see what they think? 3 GOLF MEN VS. LADIES CHALLENGE On Saturday, June 6th, the Tucker s Point Club will be holding our first ever Men vs. Women Golf Challenge!!! This competition will be comprised of teams of 2, with the format being Net Score Match Play. Each team will play a full round of golf, with the score from each team being added to either the total Men s, or Women s score. The team with the most points at the end will take the gold, as well as earn bragging rights for the next 12 months. In addition the winners will get choose the dinner for the next year's match. So book your babysitters, clear your work commitments, and put your game face on as the battle of the sexes is about to begin!!! Are you up for the Challenge?????? SUNDOWN GOLF SERIES As the sun sets, and the hot summer day turns into the cool (or less hot) summer night, we invite you to join us in this year s Sundown Golf Series! This month, the competition will be held on Friday, June 5th & 19th and will commence at 5:15 p.m. with a shotgun start. It will be comprised of teams of 2, with the format being Captain s Choice. Swizzles will be available at the start of your round and food & drinks will be available after you finish. 4 LADIES CHALLENGE 2015 From now through to the end of the year Tucker s Point will be a special Ladies Golf Challenge. From today until December 31st, ladies who wish to participate must hand in a minimum of 10 Stableford scorecards to the Golf Pro Shop. The player with the highest average score will be crowned the winner and will receive an individually fitted Taylor Made set of Golf clubs including the bag! 2 nd prize is a set of TaylorMade woods 3 rd prize is a Driver The entrance fee is $10 and an official handicap is required. 6 MEMBER EVENTS POKER NIGHT On May 1 st, the Club held its second monthly poker night of Participating members had an amazing night of cards, drinks and comradery as everyone vied for the 1st Place Prize: 50 Minute Couples Hot Stone Massage & Dinner for 2 at Sul Verde! Congratulations to Dong Huang, who took home the gold, and on his very first day as a member at that! The runner up prize went to Lisa Bishop, who put her skills and experience as a former Las Vegas card dealer to work and took home a complimentary dinner for 2 at Sur Mer. Third place went to Mark Siegel a.k.a. Jersey, who took home a $150 gift voucher to the Golf Pro Shop. The next Poker Night will be held this upcoming Friday, June 5th. These nights are always tons of fun and the more players that sign up, the bigger the prizes will be, so feel free to join us this month and see if Lady Luck is on your side! 7 SUMMER SUNDAY BBQS June s Beach Club Summer Party will take place on the 21 st, so join us and get into the island party mood as you stop by our Swizzle and Dark n Stormy bar on your way to dance under the stars to the island tunes of Bermuda s best duo, Prestege.
