A MESSAGE TO ALL MEMBERS To know the RULES and observe the ETIQUETTE of Golf is not only a credit to you, but also a credit to the Club to which you belong. You are obliged to report any breaches of the RULES of Golf you may observe to your Match Committee, for its action. For more information on Rules and Golf Etiquette, please do not hesitate to speak with our Pro Shop Staff or a member of the Match Committee. GOLF LINK Replacement Golf Link Cards can be ordered by members online through the GOLF Link website, and will incur a cost to the player of $5.50, payable directly to GOLF Link. For more information call GOLF Link on COMPETITION RULES & BY LAWS 1. All competitions are under the control of the Match Committee and its decision shall be final. Ties in any competition shall be decided in the manner prescribed by the Match Committee. Other than where special conditions apply, the count back system will be adopted

8 2. Except as specified by the Match Committee or when a match play-off has been arranged, players in competitions have priority on the course. 3. For competitions other than drawn events, starting times are to be booked by members on the time sheet provided. 4. Competitors in ALL COMPETITIONS must lodge their own scorecards complete with name and current handicap with any alteration initialled by the marker as soon as possible after the competition round. Failure to comply with this rule in every aspect may render the competitor ineligible for the trophy. Competitors must return score cards for all individual events for handicapping purposes. 5. Handicaps: The Golf Australia handicap limit for male playing members is 36. The maximum handicap for Club championships will be 36. A limit of 32 handicap will apply to new members and may be subject to review upon request. 6. Saturday Competitions: These are basically competitions for Maitland Golf Club Members, Juniors and Category 1 Sub-Juniors. With the exception of the Club Championship, a member may invite one visitor to play in the competition of the day, i.e. one visitor per group. Permission of the Match Committee must be obtained for any larger number of guests, or for any block bookings. Visitors are eligible to play in five (5) Saturday Competitions only, other than stipulated Open Days. 7. Hole-In-One: These will only be recognised when occurring in an 18 Hole Club event. A player will receive a $25.00 voucher and Holein-one Trophy

9 8. Eagles Nest and Hole-In-One Balls: Accumulated balls will be paid out when an Eagle or a Hole- In-One occurs during a Saturday Competition, any of the Championship events as listed: the 36 Holes Stroke Easter Tournament, 18 Holes Stroke Hunter or Maitland, and the 18 Holes Stroke Spring Medal. Balls will be paid out only to male playing members of Maitland Golf Club, and the combined maximum number of balls that can be won from either Nest is 25. Eagles on Par 5 holes do not count and golfers achieving a Hole-In-One only receive golf balls from the Hole-In-One Nest. All competitions will be finalised 15 minutes after the last players complete their round. 9. To be eligible to play in any competition events a visiting golfer must be a full playing member of an affiliated Golf Club. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS In the Club Championships and the Junior Championships, in the event of a tie, the playoff shall be Sudden Death, or as otherwise determined by the Match Committee. To be eligible to play in the Club Championships, players must have played 5 completed individual rounds and recorded same during the six months preceding the event. These games must be played at Maitland Golf Course. Only games played as a Maitland member will count toward eligibility. New members who do not qualify for the Club Championships under this rule may apply to the Match Committee to have this condition of entry wavered. To win the scratch or runner-up in any grade of the Club Championships a player who has qualified for the seeded draw must make themselves available to play in this draw. If a player qualifies for more than 1 seeded draw the Match Committee will place that player in the seeded draw where he has the greater influence to the result

10 KNOCKOUTS ALL MATCHES SHALL BE PLAYED ON OR BEFORE DATES FIXED BY MATCH COMMITTEE. 1. Singles Knockout: Doug Walsh Trophy 2. Two Ball Knockout: Joan Palmer Trophy Conditions for all Knockout Matches: a) All matches shall be played over 18 holes. If any match be square after 18 holes, it shall continue as the 19th etc. until a result is obtained. (on the hole the Match Started) b) Singles Matches & Two Ball Match.All players play off ¾ of their handicap and use their strokes as per the Match Play Index. c) The Members Two Ball Knockout will be played in two divisions. Winners of each division will play-off for the trophy. JUNIOR MEMBERS CADETS Up to 15 years Cadets are not eligible to play in any Golf Club Competitions other than 9 holes Junior Competitions or on School Sport Days. Cadet members will not be assigned a GA Handicap. JUNIORS Up to 17 years Junior members will be assigned a GA Handicap and are eligible to play in competitions, as follows : 1. Saturday Competitions: Juniors may play in Saturday Competitions according to categories. Category 1 may place their name on the time sheet, Category 2 must be invited to play by a Full Member of MGC and Category 3 is not eligible to play. 2. Sunday competitions: All junior golfers are expected to participate in Sunday Competitions designated for junior golfers. 11 Competition Category 1 All Club Competitions Members must remember that junior members are the members of the future. They will appreciate your help and advice. Your conduct should always set them an example. VISITORS 1. A visitor wishing to play in a Club competition must be an affiliated member of another Golf Club with proof of membership and current handicap. 2. During the months of May, June, July and August visitors must use the afternoon time slots. 3. A visitor is welcome to play in the Open Amateur Easter Tournament, Hunter and Maitland, Spring Medal Open Amateur Tournament and the Mercury Open Amateur Ambrose Tournament. In addition, a visitor is welcome to play up to five (5) times a year in other competition events. 4. On non-competition days visiting golfers are welcome to play, however, such visiting players are required to pay green fees at the Professional s Shop before hitting off. 5. No person shall be permitted to utilise the facilities of the Golf Course either as a Temporary Member or as a Guest of a Member or otherwise, except on the payment of full visitor s green fees, if the person s usual residence is within a five (5)-kilometre radius from the Club premises. The Course Committee may make exceptions in special circumstances if, in its absolute discretion, it sees fit to do so. 6. Country Members of Clubs, other than Maitland Golf Club whose usual residence is within a five (5) kilometre radius from the Club premises, shall be allowed Temporary Membership on three (3) occasions in any calendar year. 7. Maitland Golf Club does not recognize Country Membership of other Clubs unless he or she is a Full Subscribing Member of an affiliated Golf Club

12 MOTORISED BUGGY/TRANSPORT (A) Application 1. Members must apply to the Course Committee for approval to use motorised buggy/transport (hereafter referred to as the buggy) on the course and practice facilities. Each application will be considered on merit and will not be regarded as precedent when determining future applications. 2. Application must be in writing and forwarded to the Manager and shall include: a) Acknowledgement that the applicant has read and agrees to observe this By Law regarding the use of the buggy. b) Details of the buggy, including the manufacturer s specifications (size, wheel base, tyre size and weight) and a photograph and/or brochure of the proposed buggy. c) A copy of the third party insurance cover. 3. The Member must display the appropriate Proof of Registration as supplied by the Club. 4. A fee will be applicable for the use of a non approved buggy on the Course. (B) General 1. The buggy must be unobtrusive in size and noise and unlikely to cause damage to the course. 2. When a member has obtained approval from the Course Committee to use the buggy, the following rules shall be enforced: a) Those persons nominated in the application shall only drive it and no other member shall drive it. The number of the nominated persons shall not exceed two except in a family situation, where the number shall not exceed three. b) A speed limit of not more than 10 km/h shall be observed

13 c) Where practicable, the buggy shall be driven on formed paths or designated areas. d) It is not to be driven or parked within 10 metres of a green. e) The Club will not be responsible for any breakdown of the buggy. Should such a breakdown occur on the course, the member would be responsible for its recovery, including any costs that may be incurred by the Club. f) The owner will rectify any damage to the course. g) A report received by the Course Committee that a member has infringed any of the above rules will be dealt with as follows: i) First offence a caution or one-month suspension from use of the cart. ii) Second offence six months suspension from the use of the cart

21 LADY MEMBERS RULES & BY LAWS COMPETITION NOTES STARTING TIMES 8:30am Wednesday Competition, April to September 8:00am October, November, December, January, February, March Gala Day: Wednesday, 12th November 8:00am for 8:30am shotgun start DUTY OF PLAYERS Conditions of Play: All competitions shall be played according to the Rules of Golf and Local Rules in force on the day of play. Each player should acquaint herself with these Rules. Particular attention is drawn to the following: a) LOST BALL Should a ball appear to be lost the group concerned shall call the following group through before commencing search. Search time is then five minutes. b) LOSING GROUND Should one complete fairway be lost, players MUST call the following group through (if they are waiting). Penalty may be applied for breach of a) & b) above. Should a group lose ground the first player ready to play shall assume the honour in order to avoid undue delay. Course etiquette & maintenance shall be observed at all times. Handicap: It is the responsibility of each player to know and record her correct individual handicap on the card. Handicap Application: Stroke, Stableford and Par: Full Stroke Handicap Foursomes: 1/2 combined handicaps Singles Match Play: Full difference between handicaps

If unable to play on the day it is your responsibility to inform the Pro Shop and cancel. RULES GOVERNING MATCH-PLAY COMPETITIONS The Committee are to set a day on which all matches are to be played. If programmed date(s) are unsuitable the Committee may allow earlier play after approval. If one side is unable to play on agreed date that side must forfeit to other side. No extension of time will be allowed. The Committee will consider no correspondence. MONTHLY MEDALS In the event of a tie, GNSW count-back system for stroke rounds will apply. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS a) Three (3) rounds of 18 Holes Stroke play. b) Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Duty of Player (above) shall apply. c) Ties: For Championship in any Grade - play-off over three holes (1, 2, 3) then, if required, sudden death (7, 8, 9). For the 54 holes nett winner (Daphne Latter Rose Bowl) a play-off over 18 holes on the next stroke round (not drawn together). All other ties will be the GNSW count back system for stroke events. d) The Player s handicap at start of Championship will stand for 54 holes nett event

23 FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIP To be played over two (2) rounds of 18 holes. Alternate tees will be used on the 2nd round. A playoff in the event of a tie will occur as detailed in c) above. CHIP-IN & ECLECTICS May only be recorded from an INDIVIDUAL weekday competition round and/or a Handicapped 2BBB. MUST be recorded on the day of play. Chip-ins are to be recorded showing the number of the hole, the date & marker s initials. In the event of a tie a play-off will be held to determine winner. ECLECTIC records require: number of strokes taken on the hole, the date and signature of marker. Incomplete, NCR and disqualified cards, eligible for handicapping, may be used for eclectics & chipins. 4BBB AND HANDICAPPING Please note that 4BBB Competitions are used for handicapping when a team has a minimum of 42 points and a player is on the card 9 times. All 18 holes individual competitions run by the Club or Professional will be used for handicapping. COMPLAINTS All complaints shall be submitted in writing and shall be signed by the complaining member who shall then deliver such complaint to the Lady Members Honorary Secretary. The appropriate Sub- Committee and/or full Committee will then deal with the matter
