1 SPRING MILL COUNTRY CLUB December 2017 Seasons greetings! Richard W. Buthe, CCM-CEC, General Manager The Spring Mill decorators were out in force! The halls are decked with miles of white pine roping, poinsettias, ornaments, garlands and twinkling festive lighting that brightens up the night. Take a break from holiday chaos in the lounge and sip a cocktail by the Christmas tree. If you are thinking of having a holiday party for your company or your family, give us a call! We will do all the preparations for you! We offer a flexible packages for all your party needs. If you need a special platter for entertaining, take a look at our catering menu. Take out is available with Hot and Cold Hors D oeuvres, Shrimp, Crab Claw platters and any other special delights you would like. Chef Nick is at your service. Taking reservations for the Members Children s Holiday Party, Sunday, Dec. 10, 11:30am. Santa Claus will be stopping in! Enjoy our live magic show, DJ and dancing. As it begins, don t fall into the Holiday Hazards... Take Inventory and Be Prepared: Identify all situations (office parties, mall food courts, family gatherings) that make it difficult for you to eat healthy during the Holiday Season. Make a plan for staying on track in every situation. Stay Active: Don t mistake being too busy for being Active. You still need to exercise at least 30 minutes each day. Break it up into a few smaller sessions throughout the day if you re pressed for time. Try cardio to wake you up in the morning and strength training in the evening. Try Healthier Recipes: When treats are in the house, more of the dessert usually ends up in your belly than the guests. Keep some low-fat, low calorie recipes and foods on hand. Freeze leftovers for another social gathering or a weekend cheat. Out of sight, out of belly! Don t Wait For January. Stay on track. Get ChrisFitt! SPRING MILL DANCE ACADEMY We would like to welcome Sean Courtney to Spring Mill Dance Academy! We are excited to announce that Sean will be joining our staff as a Gymnastics/Acro/ Dance Instructor!! We are thrilled to be offering this new style of class at our studio. Sean started dancing at the age of 14. During his college years at Rowan University, he minored in dance and was a member of Rowan University s Contemporary Dance Company. After graduation, Sean continued his dance career by performing in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival throughout the years. He has also been teaching gymnastics and diving for many years. Michael Burgoyne Emil Ondra Which Way is Up? by Vince Sullivan In the maze of life - and golf - which way to go is a rather important factor, when we think about it. Advice about life I shall put aside, but regarding golf, the key is simply sideways. More than not, many people try to make the golf swing a straight backand-forth movement. But just remember: You are standing parallel to your intended line of flight and, thus, you are along side of the ball. Your arms are literally going around your body. The angle of the face of the club and shaft will lift the ball for you. You never have to lift it, so do not make motions with that intent. Next, is one other important clue for direction: At the top of the back swing, point your thumbs and the club right down the fairway where you want the ball to go. At this point you will note that the club is parallel to your line of flight. These two clues may actually solve a small part of golfs mystery. Now: As far as life is concerned: Who knows? If you play better golf, it certainly can t hurt! And, you may even feel better, and that certainly can t hurt. Play well, and enjoy the wonderful world of golf. I m sure a number of you have put the clubs away for the winter. For the those who haven t, it looks like the good weather will be holding on for a few more weeks. Although the weather has been decent, that could all change quickly. Shop hours can change daily if inclement weather dictates. Please call us ahead of time if there is any question it will be open. As a reminder, the golf shop is closed for the month of January. If you think you might need your golf clubs during that time please plan to pick them up sometime during December. Baking powder 3 eggs separated ¼ tsp. salt 10 inch cake pan lined with greased parchment paper Directions Whip the butter with the sugar until it reaches a creamy consistency. Add the 3 eggs yolks one at a time, then fold in the sifted flour, baking powder, corn starch and salt. Beat eggs whites till stiff then fold into batter. Place into the cake pan and bake at 350 for about 30 minutes. Serves: 8 Be Happy with Us!
