1 October 2017 FOX TRAX The Newsletter of the Foxfire Property Owners Association Foxfire Village Celebrates 40 Years The Big 4-0 only comes along once (for most of us, anyway), so why not celebrate it in style? That s one way to describe the FPOA s annual Foxfire Days celebration, held Labor Day weekend and acknowledging the 40th anniversary of Foxfire Village s incorporation. In addition to the traditional Newcomers Picnic, there were bocce games, bridge and golf tournaments and the Parade of Foxes! Pictured here is a sampling of the talent displayed by our fox-artists-inresidence. If you weren t able to make it to the picnic and see these critters yourself, visit the FPOA website and check out the rest of the pictures. The Foxfire Days Tournament was held Monday, September 4th, on the newly renovated Red Fox Course, with a luncheon following play. Fall is a very busy time in Moore County, with a lot of competing events taking place fall festivals, church and community events, holiday preparations. 5 Page 5 FPOA NEWS Newcomers Walter and Susan Williams Walter and Susan Williams moved into their new home on 2 Dogwood Court in July 2017 and immediately started renovating (no more pink carpet anywhere in this house!).they moved here from Troutman, N.C., by way of Seven Lakes. They were attracted to the area in general because Susan s parents, Richard and Debby Graham, already lived in Foxfire. They saw the house with a great view overlooking holes 12 and 13 on the Grey course and fell in love. Moving in with Walter and Susan are their two children, son Graham, 17, a senior attending Pinecrest High School and SCC part time with hopes of attending UNC next year; and daughter Emerson, 15, a sophomore at Pinecrest who makes delicious brownies. Walter does risk management consulting for several companies. Susan is now doing real estate with Coldwell Banker after working in the mental health industry for 20 years. While they love the view of the golf course, no one in the family is a golfer (yet). The whole family is involved in renovating houses and are redoing the house in Seven Lakes. They share their home with a small Great Dane (which looked huge to us!) named Delilah, a boxer named Foreman (yes, really) and two cats. Please join us in welcoming the Williams family to Foxfire. Don and Nancy Boito Halloween Party at the Foxfire Village Green Trunk or Treating 6 to 7:30 p.m. (rain or shine) The FPOA is sponsoring its annual fall favorite Halloween Trunk or Treat and Hayride at the Village Green Park on Tuesday, October 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Page Coker is coordinating the event, and looking for folks to decorate their golf carts or car trunks and provide treats for all our little ghosts and goblins. Please have your car/cart in place by 5:30 p.m., and please contact Page at or redfox@nc.rr.com to let her know if you are coming out with a trunk or golf cart, or have any questions. This year s festivities will feature lots of prizes: 5:45 Judging of best decorated golf cart and best decorated car/truck trunk 6:15 Best costume contest for three age groups (0-4; 5-8; 9-12) (1st and 2nd place in each age group) 6-7:30 Hayride/Trunk or Treat We have more children in Foxfire Village than ever, so come be part of a safe, fun Foxfire Halloween.

Befitting the Mardi Gras theme was a spicy Cajun chicken lunch, prepared by chef David Bungarz. East-West Tournament Scheduled The annual East/West Golf Tournament, open to all Foxfire residents and club members, will be held Wednesday, October 18, and Thursday, October 19, at the club, We ve seen some very close matches in the last few years, and we expect this year s event will follow that trend! The format will be best ball of the two-member teams. All players can play the tee of their choice, with handicaps adjusted. A casual light luncheon will follow. This is one of the most popular tournaments of the year, so sign up ASAP, in the pro shop. Non-club members will pay the daily fee. Chad DeBonis

7 GOLF FMGA 2017 Club Championship Page 7 It was a great week for FMGA member Dale Andress, who had a very successful Men s Club Championship tournament, September 22-24, with a holein-one on the par-3 12 th hole of the Grey course in Round 1. His 6-iron shot was witnessed by Ramiro Reyes and Brian Manley. In Round 2 on the Red course, his outstanding play won him the Club Championship in the third flight. Flight Winners Flight 1, blue tees Scott Abrams Flight 2, white tees Jon Sedlak Flight 3, gold tees Dale Andress Flight 4, silver tees Angel Cruz Hats off to all who participated! Sue Durham Wins FLGA 2017 Club Championship Tournament director Pam Reyes coordinated three flights of 17 FLGA players for the 2017 club championship, September 11, 13, 14: the champion flight on the hybrid tees for three days, flight A and B on the silver tees for two days, alternate play on Red and Grey courses. Judy Rankin maintained a two-day lead in the champion flight, with scores of 85 and 87, ahead of Sue Durham and Leslie Frusco. However, it ain t over until it s over applied for the final day of play in the champion flight. Sue Durham blazed in with an 85 on day three, preceded by a two-day score of 176 for a total 261, to win. Congrats to Sue! Silver flight A winner Sue Manley recorded a two-day score of 178, one stroke ahead of last year s silver champion, Rita Ward. Well-deserved win, Sue M! Silver flight B winner was Pam Reyes, with second place to Marilyn Grady. Thank you, Pam, for a great tourney and the win! The Toast to the Champion party was held at the home of Vic and Pam Koos.
