March 29, 2017 First Official Men s Night We would like to introduce Angela Allan as our newest member of the team. She will be replacing Shelley Ricci as our Member Services Representative for the interim period. We wish Shelley the best while on maternity leave and looking forward to having her back in the future. If you have the opportunity, please introduce yourself to Angela and give her a warm Pitt Meadows welcome. We are in the process of hiring a Building Maintenance Lead Hand. This position will begin mid-march and will be responsible for building maintenance, repairs and safety. Golf Shop Announcement: As many of you are aware, PMGC currently outsources Golf Shop services to our head professional Neil Roberts and his company, Neil Roberts Golf Shop Inc. The club has recently decided to follow the lead of many clubs over the past several years and switch from the current outsourced model to an in-house, club-operated model. The change will take effect on October 1st, 2017 and at that time we are very much looking forward to continuing our relationship with Neil, Craig, Wes, Phil and Larry as employees of the club.

As a membership, this gives us the opportunity to show them WHY our club is the best choice for them! Here s the scoop: New members can join for a period of one year with the deposit of $1000 During this one year of membership, the trial member receives full member benefits and pays the membership dues and annual fees associated with membership Following this one year period, the trial member has the option to convert to a full time member, or leave the club with no further commitment If the member converts to a full member, an initiation fee of $3500 is due at that time Should the trial member leave the club prior to the one year period, the club retains the $1000 deposit * Note - we are currently offering non-trial memberships until April 30th with the initiation fee of $2500. Our goal is to provide a welcoming experience for new members. We want them to feel more comfortable with the facilities, the course and with the membership. Each host will be matched up with new members of similar golf skills, age and backgrounds. Responsibilities include: 1. Being a prideful ambassador of the club that engages recently joined or prospective members 2. Be willing to engage new or prospective members by means of playing golf and/or meeting them in a social environment at the club 3. Be willing to make welcome phone calls to new members and proactively check on their enjoyment of the club during their first several few months 4. The Arborist gave us a list trees that need to be removed due to safety (as determined by WorkSafe BC) and shade purposes. We removed 82 trees in total which included 73 dangerous trees and 9 trees that shaded greens. We left 32 of the recommended trees standing on the right of #6 fairway for a later date as we were being overwhelmed with debris and the ability to remove the trees due to extreme wet conditions. The 9 shade trees we removed have increased the ability to open the greens quicker during frost delays and will help during the growing months. We still have 34 cedars to the right of # 13 green to remove for the same purpose but we will consult the greens committee on putting them forward to the board. Every tree we removed had no bearing on the Playability of the hole. Further discussion is required around the removal of trees to the right of # 4 because of playability. These trees are suffering from a fungus called Schweinitzii that is devastating the Douglas fir. They will need to be removed in the future, until then we will need to go on a thinning and planting program before its too late. There are 23 cedars & 10 hemlocks along the hazard lines on #8 & 17 and we will pass those on to the match committee for further evaluation. The dead trees that were removed not only were dangerous but have stopped their process of photosynthesis and started the respiring state which is when the cells die they start to give off stored carbon dioxide instead of oxygen like they do when healthy. When the clutter is cleared up we will remove the dangerous trees on # 6. Thank you for the ability to remove these trees as we value our members, guests and employees at Pitt Meadows Golf Club.
