2 The President and Members of the KZN Society Invite you to enter the 75th Annual Tournament which is being played in Durban on two exceptional courses, Royal Durban Golf Club and Durban Country Club. Our programme of events is exciting and contains a few departures from past practice. Registration will take place at Royal Durban Golf Club. There will be a combined Gala Dinner for the Ladies and Men at the at which the focus will be on socialising with friends, entertainment, prize giving and the Closure of the Tournament. PLEASE READ THESE NOTES CAREFULLY Members are required to play on all 4 days. Golf Carts R 220. Carts are available and priority will be given to those players who need a cart for medical reasons for all 4 days and a medical certificate is required. Privately owned carts will be charged a trail fee of R40 per round. There is a limited amount of space for storage and charging facilities available at the courses, so please advise your Secretary if these facilities are required. DCC Golf Carts R 220. Carts are available and priority will be given to those players who need a cart for medical reasons for all 4 days and a medical certificate is required. Privately owned carts are not allowed at DCC. Caddie fees will be R 180 plus tip per round at both courses. Players needing similar tee off times in order to travel together please inform the Secretary of your Society when you send in your application. The Draw will endeavour to accommodate your request (maximum group size of 4) but this may not be possible on Thursday and Friday, due to varied handicaps in the Championships. Seniors and their ladies are strongly encouraged to attend both the opening Cocktail Party and the closing Gala Dinner. The formal dress requirement for the Gala Dinner is a dark suit or blazer, dark pants and Senior s tie or bow tie. Please sign the Entry Application at the bottom of page 5 it will not be accepted unless signed. Should there be changes to the information you have put on your entry application please inform your Society Secretary. This is important for the Draw if your handicap moves into or out of the Championship division. The Ladies programme is subject to change depending on demand for the various events. Changes will be shown in the Tournament Brochure, to be distributed in March. All tours, for which transport is provided, depart from the Royal Durban Golf Club. Where own transport is required, the KZN ladies will endeavour to accommodate, and maps to venues will be provided in the welcome bag. If you require accommodation in the Durban area, please ask your Secretary for details of B&Bs, guest houses and hotels that have already been sent by the KZN Society to all Secretaries. Raffle/Two Club. R80 Raffle / Two club entry fees are to be included in your total entry fee. See page 5 for entry details. Refunds for cancellations of accepted entries: For cancellations advised to the Tournament Director before the 15 th of March a full refund will be paid. Refunds after the 15th of March will only be granted due to major illness, death and other exceptional circumstances. Where the KZN Society has had to pay a deposit for tours or functions, no refund will be made. Non competitors, who wish to attend the Cocktail Party and/or the Annual Gala Dinner, please contact your Society Secretary after the 1st March

3 LADIES PROGRAMME Monday 5 May Mixed Golf The draw will be published in the Tournament Guide Opening Ceremony Cocktail Party for all. 11h00 19h00 to 20h30 Tuesday 6 May Get Active Play golf at Zimbali This course offers irresistible ocean & forest views, exceptional water & wetland features & an inspiring natural setting. Price includes bus transfer, green fees, carts & a light lunch. Visit Hawaan Forest This is one of the few examples of primeval forest left in South Africa & is noted for its rare trees. Own transport is required. A picnic tea will be provided. Antiques and High Tea with Sandy Day Sandy Day is an expert on antiques. Enjoy a high tea whilst Sandy takes you through her quirky & quaint antique shop. She has a wealth of knowledge on the items displayed. Own transport is required. Bus from Umhlanga Rocks Durban North 06h45 Wednesday 7 May A morning of Laughter Enjoy a sumptuous morning tea and have a good laugh with the Queen of Comedy Lisa Bobbert as she jests about the joys of middle age! Own transport is required. Birding at Shongweni followed by lunch at a Country Restaurant Shongweni Dam Nature Reserve is home to over 250 species of birds. It is one of the better birding spots in the greater Durban area. Lunch is at a country restaurant. Venue to be confirmed. Transport & lunch is included in the price. Durban Country Club Bus from 07h00 to 15h00 In the evening there is a SAB Function with a lamb on the spit and live entertainment. 19h00 Thursday 8 May Golf at Mt. Edgecombe Country Club MECC is situated inland from Umhlanga Rocks and has been acknowledged as one of South Africa s premier golfing estates. Price includes green fees and a light lunch. Carts are available for your own account. Own transport is required. Visit two historic KZN establishments Mariannhill Monastery & Camp Orchard Mariannhill Monastery is filled with history that dates back about 129 years. It was founded by Trappist monks as a Catholic Mission & boasts an impressive display of architecture & design. Camp Orchard is a fine example of an old Durban homestead. It is still in its original form and has been lovingly brought to life by the renowned decorator Anne Colle. This building is now a decorator s dream of beautiful items to buy as well as a spa & wedding venue. It is here that we will have lunch. Price includes transport, entrance fee and lunch at Camp Orchard. Mt. Edgecombe Golf club Bus from 07h30 08h00 to 15h00 Friday 9 May Visit Ushaka and Umthombo followed by a cookery demonstration & lunch at Daruma Japanese Restaurant. Ushaka Sea World is the 5th largest aquarium in the world and home to a vast array of shark and other large and small fish species. There will also be a behind the scenes tour with experts of the aquarium and research facilities. Umthombo is a charity which aims to reintegrate street children back into society by training them as life guards, diving and surfing instructors. Daruma is an authentic Japanese restaurant.
