2 Introduction White Turf Championship Meeting Sunday 18th February 2018 The White Turf is a legendary horse race meeting held over 3 Sundays in February each year. Set in the unbelievably pretty valley of the Engadin horses race on the frozen lake in St Moritz to the delight of the some 30,000 spectators that travel to marvel at this unique event. St Moritz, set in the beautiful Swiss Alps, has long been a playground of the rich and famous and this is most certainly reflected in the spectators attending. Attracting a host of foreign trainers, including a number of well known British and Irish ones, and some of the best horses, racing for prize money in excess of 1m over the series. The racing is unique with the horses wearing special cleated racing plates there is a mixture of flat racing, with a trotting race and also a Skikjöring race to enjoy. The quality of the Hotels, Hospitality and entertainment is second to none and this is a highly recommended trip for those aficionados who have attended most of the world s best race meetings. 5 In Closing What to Wear White Turf is not only about races, it is also a social event. The lake becomes the setting and a meeting point for all race lovers, as Locals and holidaymakers savour the air and the ambiance of the magni cent Alpine surroundings. It is definitely a place to see and also be seen. Dress is glamourous with plenty of fur coats and hats in evidence, even the handbag dogs wear fur!! In other words, glam ski wear or designer winter wear are the order of the day, yes it can be very cold, and also very sunny too, a strange mix of winter with the possibility of a tan. Make sure you bring the required clothing and stay warm, after all it is a ski resort in winter! - We have allowed a 20kg bag for each guest as well as 1 piece of carry on luggage included with your package so you should have plenty of space to take your winter finery with you. Also don t forget the Après racing wear too, the hotels, bars and restaurants are all glamourous so you ll feel very comfortable in your Sunday best. Smart casual also works too. St Moritz St Moritz is a ski paradise, with lots of exciting things to see and do. Romantic moonlight Sledge rides, exquisite bars, clubs and restaurants or for the more energetic why not try the Cresta Run, Skiing or Sledging. If you want to bring ski equipment with you we can arrange that too at airline baggage cost. Or alternatively you can hire ski equipment from one of the many outlets.
