We are so proud of our Sensei Joane Orbon and her goal to the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo, Japan. She traded Turkey this Thanks giving to travel to Naha Okinawa to compete at the Okinawan Japan WKF Karate K-1 Series Open Karate Championships for ranking in the world to be selected at one of the top 8 females in the world to be selected by the IOC for the Olympic Summer Games. Joane competed in kumite finishing 5th Place out of 60 at the last Karate1 event of the year. She had a total of six matches with talented athletes from Chinese Taipei 5-0, France 4-1 hantei, Mexico 1-0, Italy 3-0, but then falling short to Slovakia (ranked #3) 1-3 in the semi-finals and the bronze medal match against Japan (ranked #16) 1-2. 3 Sensei Gene Tibon Inducted to 2017 Bay Area Cities Martial Arts Hall of Fame And Chief Master Instructor of the Year Award Representing the Nine Bay Area Counties November 12, 2017 This is Sensei Tibon s 12 th Hall of Fame Induction, which includes the Stockton Sports Hall of Fame, The USA National Karate- Do Federation, member US Olympic Committee Man of the Year Award, A.A. Stagg High School Hall of Fame, and others. Sensei Gene Tibon is also the Ambassador for Traditional Karate for Masters Hall of Fame, and does the selections for Traditional Karate martial artist for the North and South American Continents
