You are invited to join us at this informal get together on the first Saturday of each month, except December, January, and February. We have lively conversations over dinner with a few laughs. Please call Lamar Hart before noon on the day of the Saturday Night Social to reserve ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY DECEMBER 12 MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW Cruise-Ins / Car Shows Georgia Regional Group 24 is encouraging you to attend cruise-ins and car shows this year. And it s for a purpose. Cruise-ins provide an opportunity to increase our club recognition and possibly acquire new members. Here s what we have in mind. Attend some cruise-ins, whether you bring a vehicle or not. Wear club clothing and a name tag so others see that this is an active organization. Circulate around and visit with others who just might be interested in joining an active car club. Get their name, , and phone number so we can put them on our mailing list. They don t have to own a flathead or even a Ford. If you have a club calling card give it out. If you do not have a card please contact Dick Anderson. Now, if you bring your flathead Ford, try to stay around your car and visit with those who stop to look. Again, here is a great opportunity to get their name, , and phone number for the mailing list. Please join us it s a great way to support your club and contribute to its growth. The next page is an example of opportunities to show off your car and meet prospective new members.

REPORT ON EVENTS ANNUAL CLUB COOK OUT The ANNUAL CLUB COOK OUT was held on September 19 from 12 noon to 3 PM. at Lucky Shoals Park, Norcross. There were over 35 attendees a number of which drove their old cars including one old PLYMOUTH! The club furnished hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, condiments, cold drinks, ice, and paper goods. Attendees brought a variety of salads and other side dishes and lots of desserts to share with others. All ate too much but enjoyed the conversation with friends some we see infrequently. If you did not come this year plan to attend next year.

THE EARLY FORD V8 CLUB OF AMERICA, INC. REGIONAL GROUP 24 Club Minutes Meeting of SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 Regional Group #24 held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at The Hickory House on Northlake Parkway at 6:30 PM, September 1, 2015, the first Tuesday of the month. 18 persons attended. President Jerry Reichel presided. The meeting was temporarily delayed for supper. After an invocation by Bob Schwartz, the President led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Loraine Steele reported that she had not received any report of deaths or illnesses among our members except that Cheryl Reichel fell and broke her wrist 2 weeks ago but is now able to sit up and take nourishment at this meeting. (Cheryl is a real trooper!) Jerry asked for a motion to approve the minutes of the August meeting which was made, seconded and approved unanimously. Bert Steele delivered a brief, verbal Treasurer s report, stating that he and the Club s officers have transferred the Club s checking account from Wells Fargo Bank to United Community Bank as Wells Fargo has adopted a mandatory monthly assessment for accounts such as ours. Further, he reported that: The only revenue received since our August meeting is $101 interest on our certificate of deposit; During August $311 was expended from Club revenue for meals; We have $3,963 deposited into 2 checking accounts and $30,427 in 2 certificates of deposit, the larger of which will mature in less than 4 months. Bert s report was unanimously accepted after a motion and a second. Bob Schwartz reported that he needs entries for the Runningboard by the 20 th of this month. Jerry stated that there were no visitors tonight and no new members. He then welcomed back Phyllis and Larry Major. Jerry & Bob reported on the Club s Tech Session at Jerry s garage on August or 19 persons attended. Jerry said that Bob s discussion was quite good, all the pizza was eagerly consumed and everyone appeared to have benefitted from the information Bob delivered. Lamar Hart announced that the Club s annual cookout will be at Lucky Shoals Park on Saturday September 19, rain or shine. Lunch will be served at noon. The Club will provide all the food except side dishes and desserts which members are asked to bring. Everyone should RSVP to Lamar at or lamarhart@outlook.com. Jerry stated that he will not be attending the Charlotte Auto Fair September and that he knows of no one else in our Club who will be going there either. Fred Lindquist announced that the Club will visit Panola Mountain State Park on October 17 and then travel to Stockbridge for lunch at the Broadway Diner. We will assemble at the shopping center at the intersection of Briarcliff Road and Clairmont Road at a time he will publish later. After a walking tour of the Mountain, we will travel together to Stockbridge for lunch. There will be no charge for admission to the Park but each automobile will be assessed a $5 parking fee which is valid for all State parks for If it is raining the event will be canceled. Jerry stated that with the permission of the Board of Directors, our Club has purchased the remaining raffle tickets of 40 tickets received for the Ford sign being given away by the Mohawk Valley Club later this summer. The intent is to have a drawing or raffle among our own members if one of the Club s tickets happens to be a winner in New York. Jerry reported that some folks have gotten the idea that the Hickory House will soon be out of business so that its building can be demolished to make room for a new development. CONTINUED NEXT PAGE

CONT INUED Club Minutes Meeting of SEPTEMBER 1, 2015 But, he has conferred with the Hickory House management and learned that this is not a valid rumor. The buildings on the property across the street from the Hickory House are going to be demolished and new construction will be erected but the Hickory House will not be affected. Jerry asked that we begin thinking about serving on the Nominating Committee that will need to be appointed in October to recommend directors for (It was erroneously reported in the minutes of the August meeting that at Jerry s request Fred Lindquist has agreed to serve as the chairman of the Nominating Committee. Actually, Jerry s statement in August was that he intended to ask Fred to serve in that capacity.) Fred stood and agreed to accept that position saying that he would be in touch with various members to ask for their participation. Lamar reported that the Board of Directors has begun planning for a possible National Tour beginning Sunday, September 11, 2016 and ending Friday, September 16, The proposal is for a tour that centers around the Blue Ridge Parkway, traveling to Asheville, Hendersonville, Cherokee, Chimney Rock, Maggie Valley, NC and Bryson City, TN (for the railroad tour), The plan is that the participants will not be traveling together. Instead, the participants would be on their own after leaving each morning. Everyone would be responsible for making their own lodging and food arrangements although the Club would make recommendations at each lodging site and the Club would plan a beginning and ending function. The plan is that the function would not be designed to produce revenue for our Club but would provide a method for national club members to travel and exhibit their cars even though those cars may not be award winning, 1,000 point vehicles. It is hoped that we will attract approximately 30 cars and 60 people. Lamar reported that there is a need for members to exhibit their cars at an Alzheimer s Association car show in Decatur on Wednesday, September 9 from 4PM to 7PM if anyone can attend at that unusual time. Responding to Jerry s request for Further Business, Dick Anderson reported on his recent experience with a representative of Joe Gibbs Racing who has specific knowledge about an oil additive named, Driven and a gasoline additive named, Carb Defender that are helpful in avoiding corrosion caused by storing our cars while using gasoline with alcohol chemicals added. Dick said that any cars manufactured prior to 2004 are subject to extensive corrosion caused by the alcohol unless something is added that will impede that process. He pointed out that alcohol causes extensive damage to brass, copper and aluminum parts and that these items are plentiful in our flatheads. The recommended quantity of Carb Defender is 8 ounces per 25 gallons of gasoline. Dick cautioned that after pouring the additive into the fuel tank, the car should be run long enough to make sure that the treated fuel is pumped through the fuel system including the carburetor. The popular oil additive, ZZDP, will not function in most oils. The only oil that can be useful to avoid corrosion is labeled SL (or lower). Oils labeled SM or SN or higher contain so much detergent that the ZZDP will not be effective. Further, he pointed out that Mobil One has been recently reformulated. It now has a ZZDP additive in it and only a small amount of detergent so it may be helpful but may be ineffective in some vehicles. The Joe Gibbs Racing oil product that is most effective is Driven. All Joe Gibbs Racing products can be purchased at Jegs, Summit Racing and Amazon. Jerry asked Dick to arrange for us to purchase a case of each from Joe Gibbs Racing. The next Club Board of Directors Meeting will be held on September 15 at Burn Cox garage. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Dale Dewberry, Secretary

THE GEORGIA REGIONAL GROUP #24 OF THE EARLY FORD V8 CLUB OF AMERICA, INC. Minutes of meeting of Board of Directors SEPTEMBER 15, 2015 The Board of Directors of Regional Group #24 held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at the Burns Cox garage on September15, 2015, All directors were present. The Minutes of the August Board meeting were accepted without discussion. Bert Steele presented the Treasurer s report which was accepted after discussion. He reported that we have a total of $34, on deposit. His requested bank changeover has not yet been completed since new checks are needed in order to close the Wells Fargo account. Further, he reported that we should expect a reduction in revenue for 2016 as we steadily lose members and therefore, our receipts from dues will be reduced. Bert also asked that a dues notice be sent out in October with a November 1 due date. There will be no change in the amount of the dues. Lamar Hart reported that he has telephoned 55 people to see if they will be attending this Saturday s club cookout. He expects 35 persons to attend but 2 additional people were added by other Directors at the meeting for a new total of 37 people to be expected. Fred Lindquist asked for a nominating committee meeting to be held on October 20 at Burns Cox garage. He will ask 6 or 7 members of this year s Board of Directors to serve on that committee. Lamar Hart reported on the planning for the 2016 National Tour. The dates are being settled for Sunday evening, September 11 through Friday evening, September 15, 2016 starting in Asheville, NC. The Tour will be limited to 30 cars. Our Club will need to plan a reception for the first evening and a farewell meeting on Friday evening. For liability insurance purposes, all participants must be members of the National Club. Jerry Reichel discussed a new October 17 day tour to take the place of the originally planned tour to Panola Mountain. (That tour had to be cancelled because the Park Ranger prescheduled another large group. Fred will try to re-schedule that tour for April 2016.) Jerry has planned a tour to the Granite Museum and Guide Stones display at Elberton, GA on Saturday, October 17. He plans for us to convene at I-85 & Hamilton Mill 9:00 and take back roads to Elberton. Lunch will be at the McIntosh Coffee Shop in Elberton. The November 2015 Club meeting will be held in David Jumper s garage as in past years. The December meeting will be our annual Christmas party at the First Methodist Church of Tucker on Saturday, December 12. convening There being no further business to be discussed, the meeting was duly adjourned by the President. The next meeting of the Board of Directors will be held on October 13, Respectfully submitted, E. Dale Dewberry, Secretary
