We had discussions on our budget and the deficiencies in planning our Aurora Car Show (reference Rose s minutes of February meeting). There are a number of members who feel we should cancel our proposed Aurora Show. In our March meeting we will confirm our 2015 budget. Also we must solve our problems with planning a second show or cancel the effort. Stay warm and hope to see you at our March meeting. Thank You Paul

5 Governor s Report February Meeting Minutes Minutes for February 4, 2015 NEOVC Meeting The meeting was called to order by the President, Paul Reynolds, at 6:45 PM on Wednesday, February 4. Due to the heavy snowfall and very icy road conditions, only 10 very brave members were in attendance. Treasurer, Dean Cole, advised the members of information regarding purchasing the 2015 NCCC lapel pins. Paul Reynolds made the motion, and Dave Owens seconded, the club purchase 35 lapel pins (2015 NCCC). Motion passed.

6 There was a discussion as to who will handle the membership responsibilities. No decision was made. Our Social Chairman, Sam Mansell, reported two club activities for the month of February. Our February social will be at the Bertram on February 11, at 6 PM. On Sunday, February 22, our Daytona 500 party starts at noon at the dealership. Sam also is looking into various other activities to be held in the warmer months to come. The members present discussed our Christmas party and felt we need to book our 2015 party now in order to secure a decent date. Rick Farley made the motion and Paul Reynolds seconded, to have our 2015 Christmas Party at Daddona s. Motion passed. Sam will look into securing December 12 as our first choice or December 5 if our first choice is unavailable. The following three items were discussed by the members present, but due to the few members in attendance, no decisions were made; and these items will be brought up again at the March meeting for action to be taken. 1) How do we want to handle our finances? It was suggested the club keep a $3,000 balance at the end of each year to start off the new year. In other words, after the car show(s) are over and bills have been paid and donation(s) have been set aside for the charity, this would be the amount the club has left in its treasury. 2) Are we clear as to why we want a second car show (Aurora Farms)? The discussion centered around the reason to hold a second car show. Are we raising money solely for the benefit of giving to another charity or would some of the money be used to subsidize club activities?

7 3) If we have an Aurora Farms Car Show, will we have enough volunteers to staff it? Our membership is lower than when we previously put on the Aurora Farms Shows, and the parking layout would require more volunteers than we need when we hold the Tim Lally Car Show. A chairman is also needed for this event. 8 This Is What a $7 Million Corvette Looks Like Anybody know where I can find this 1956 SR-2 Corvette? Chevrolet only made three of their first purpose-built racing Corvettes, and nobody seems to know where the third SR-2 'Sebring Racer' is at the moment. If you find it, that's north of $5 million right there.

9 First Purpose-Built Racing Corvette Goes On Sale For $6.9 Million This is the 1956 Corvette SR-2 'Sebring Racer,' the first purpose-built Corvette racer GM. The SR-2s were created in 1956 to go bald eagle on the European race cars long before Ford got there with the GT40. In order for America's fiberglass sports car to get to that speed, GM's Styling Studio gave it a new body, bigger brakes, better suspension and improved cooling all around as well as a stronger gearbox and a Rochester Fuel Injection system later on, seen here being tested at Daytona Speed Week in 1957: These hand-built 152 mph cars weigh just 2,000 pounds and come with a 48-gallon gas tank, which was very much needed at Daytona and Sebring. Le Mans was also on the horizon for the SR-2, but in 1957, Chevrolet pulled out of racing before it could get there. Now, I believe this car would be perfect for Goodwood, and $7 million for such a rare piece of history is really a bargain compared to what slightly crashed McLarens go for nowadays. Prior Design Gives the Corvette Stingray a Menacing Makeover Prior Design usually creates widebody kits for European cars from BMW, Audi, and Mercedes- Benz AMG. But this time, they ve taken on something more American. They ve had their way with the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray C7 and given it a complete makeover both inside and out. It all starts with lots of carbon fiber in an aerodynamic kit that includes a new bumper, spoiler and cup wings while the back of the car gets a huge quad exhaust in a carbon fiber diffuser skirt. The PDR700 also gets new side skirts and flared wheel arches. The cost for these modifications isn t cheap. Total cost comes out to a little over $8,200.

11 North Canton Road Trip On Monday, February 2, 2015, club member Eric Gordon, myself and a couple friends decided to hit the road and headed to North Canton to visit Ohio Corvettes and Muscle Cars. (You can visit their website at: ocamc.com). We were not disappointed as they had well over 100 Vettes, classic and muscle cars of all vintages in two separate buildings. The back building has cars stacked two high. The first vehicle we saw by the front door was a MGB with a Chevy 350 cu in. 350 hp engine mated to an auto trans, complete with huge side exhausts and roll bar. Moving to the more traditional cars, there were beautiful 56 and 57 T-Birds along with a variety of Mustangs including a 70 Mach 1. They also had a rare 61 Chevy 409 with 409 hp. along with a There were also classic Camaros of every year and model imaginable. The same was true with Vettes, including a clone 69 L was the last year a Vette had chrome bumpers front and back making it somewhat desirable. There was a 72 Vette that a prior owner actually removed the chrome bumpers and replaced them with less desirable 1980 soft front and rear. This is like removing the split from a 63 split window coupe! Oh well, whatever trips your trigger. They have at least 30 Vettes on display with some very desirable models, including 63 and 64 fuel-injected models. Many other C-2 s, C-3 s and C-4 s were on display. If you want to buy or sell a classic car, we highly recommend that you check in with Ted Snow at OCAMC. They have an extensive inventory.

12 I m sending several pics we took for the editor to review and hopefully include a couple in the newsletter. We may try and hit a few more places of interest before the cruise season begins. We ll keep you posted. Ed Suit

JANUARY 29, 2015 IN THIS ISSUE: 2015 Corvette Hall of Fame Inductees Announced NCM Ambassador Thinks Outside the Brick Torch Red Vette Winner Drawn Seeking NASCAR Items Corvette Store Featured Item Upcoming Club Events 2015 Corvette Hall of Fame Inductees Announced The National Corvette Museum has announced the following inductees to be recognized as part of the 18th Annual Corvette Hall of Fame Ceremony in 2015: Herb Fishel in the category of Racing; Rick Hendrick in the category of Enthusiast; and Russ McLean in the category of GM/Chevrolet. These three individuals will be recognized with the highest honor bestowed by the Museum for their contributions to the past, present and future of Corvette. The 2015 Corvette Hall of Fame recipients will be inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame during a ceremony and banquet on Friday, September 4, Their induction will take place as part of the Museum s 21st Anniversary Celebration September 3-5, The National Corvette Museum established the Corvette Hall of Fame in 1998 to confer the highest honor and recognition upon the most influential individuals in the history of the Corvette. The award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to their respective fields, each having reached the highest level of accomplishment. Inductees must also reflect the highest standards of integrity and character to positively enhance the prestige of the Corvette and the National Corvette Museum. Read more about our three esteemed inductees on our blog here.

20 NCM Ambassador Thinks Outside the Brick When it comes to supporting the Museum, our Ambassadors find creative ways to get their fellow club members on board. Ken Bakenhus of San Jacinto Corvette Club in Houston, TX is one such Ambassador - thinking outside the box (or in this case, brick) to garner donations for the Museum. "When raising funds for our club bench, I gave different incentives for different donation levels such as a plaque, club jacket, dinners or a combination of all three for the larger donations," said Ken. "After raising the bench funds, I was able to sell a lot of bricks because members wanted their brick in front of the bench." Ken also got creative by gluing C7 model Corvettes to the top of Flint Bricks, and using them as rewards to members who contributed to the club's Motorsports Park 'Acre.' "Using my Lifetime Membership discount for the C7 models, and the bricks on sale at 3 for $25, I raised $4,800 with just a $444 expenditure." Thanks, Ken, for your creativity and support! Does your club have an ambassador? If not, check out the process to have one online here. Torch Red Vette Winner Drawn Congrats to John Barrett, Jr. of Palos Verdes Estates, CA - winner of our 2015 Torch Red Corvette with ticket number (Pictured are our staff and Museum visitors calling the winner).
