2 EVENTS Please attach any meeting reports, newsletters or other reports which are relevant. 49th Annual International Meeting of the ESR Spectroscopy Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry Scientific Conference - multi day Wivenhoe House, Colchester 3rd April 7th April 2016 See the attachments for the full conference report and the annual newsletter. This is the main annual event organised by the RSC ESR Group Bruker Prize Lecture Award Lecture Given at the above conference, by Prof R. David Britt from the University of California, Davis, titled: Exploring Radical Based Catalysis in Enzymes Bruker Thesis Prize Award Lecture Given at the above conference by Dr Claudia Tait (University of Oxford, supervised by Prof Christiane Timmel) on the strength of the doctoral thesis titled Uncrossing wires: EPR reveals spin delocalization in porphyrin nanoassemblies JEOL Student Prize Award Lecture Given at the above conference, won by Michael Lerch, with an excellent presentation titled Exploring protein conformational landscapes with site-directed spin labelling and pressure-resolved DEER.

3 AWARDS AND BURSARIES Please list any awards or bursaries presented by your committee in 2015 and indicate any which will be open for nomination/application in Three prizes were awarded during the 48th Annual International Meeting of the ESR Spectroscopy Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry: 2016 Bruker Prize, won by Prof R. David Britt (University of California) 2016 JEOL Student Prize, won by Michael Lerch (University of California) 2016 Bruker Thesis Prize, won by Claudia Tait (University of Oxford) These prizes will next be awarded in 2017 at the 50th Annual International Meeting of the ESR Spectroscopy Group at the University of Oxford. The Group has received an RSC Travel Grant of 2500 for travel bursaries for PhD students (RSC members) to sponsor their attendance at the Oxford conference. Other information/comments: The 2016 ESR Group annual newsletter has been circulated, and we have contributed to the Newsletter of the International EPR Society (IES).
