2 Regulations for the Exhibition ENTRIES 1. Entries on the appropriate for, to be duly signed and received by the Secretary together with the Entry Fee on or before the state closing date for each relevant section. Cheques made payable to Malton Agricultural Society. The receipt of Entries will not be acknowledged but Entry Badges will be sent to Exhibitors at least three days before the Show. NUMBERS SHOULD BE COLLECTED FROM THE SECRETARY S TENT ON SHOW DAY IF ENTRY FEE NOT PAID. 2. ENTRIES RECEIVED TOO LATE FOR INCULSION IN THE CATALOGUE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 3. The Society reserve the right to extend the closing date for entries at their discretion, and to refuse any entry or withhold any prize if there appears to be insufficient merit in the exhibit. 4. If less than three entries are forward, a second prize only will be awarded, unless in the opinion of the Judge a first prize is warranted. 5. Substitutes will only be allowed at the discretion of the Show Council and in any case, details must be in the hands of the Secretary by 9.00am on the day of the Show. 6. All stock entered for competition must be bona fide property of the Exhibitor. All stock must be available at the time stated for Judging, and every effort will be made to maintain the timetable, but the Council reserve the right to make alterations. Exhibitors in the Sheep classes must be prepared to present their sheep for Judging when required to do so by the Stewards. 7. No exhibit shall be removed from the Showground until 4.30pm 8. Any Ponies may be measured by the Veterinary Surgeon. 9. No animal may be taken out of the Show Ring without permission of the Steward. 10. Heavy Horse Turnouts will be inspected before entering the Judging ring, for Health & Safety reasons. 11. All winning exhibits must be available to exhibit in the Grand Parade at 2.30pm. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of prize money. 12. The Society reserves the right to make amendments to the schedule up to the date of entries closing, amendments will be published on the website ( CHALLENGE CUPS 13. All Challenge Cups must be returned to the Secretary at least 28 days before the Show following at which awarded. OBJECTIONS 14. All protests must be made to the Secretary in writing before 4.00pm on the day of the Show. Any person making a protest shall at the time deposit the sum of 10, which shall, at the discretion of the Council, be forfeited to the funds of the Society in the vent of the objection not being sustained, or if the objection is considered frivolous. 15. 4 SHEEP A Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded in each Sheep Section A Champion and Reserve will be awarded to the Best Wool on the Hoof entered in Show Entry Fee: 4.00 for all Sheep Classes (excluding Young Handler & Best Woolled sheep classes) Entry Fee Best Wool on the Hoof classes: 2.00 Free Entry for Young Handler Classes JUDGING TIMES: am Young Handlers 9.30 am Suffolk, Charollais, Texel, Leicester, Blue Faced Leicester, Jacobs & Teeswater 9.45 am Ryeland and Coloured Ryeland am Lleyn, any other native breed, Rare Breeds & Butchers Lambs noon Wool on the Hoof Championship pm Inter Breed Sheep Championship Prize Money all Classes (excl Young Handler and Best Wool on the Hoof sheep classes) - 1 st 10 2 nd 7 3 rd 4 4 th (6 or more entries) 2 Prize Money Best Wool on the Hoof sheep classes st prize only for each class. Judging will commence following completion of each individual main sheep section judging. Sheep in this class will be judged in their individual pens. Sponsored and Judged by the British Wool Marketing Board. Winners will then go forward to be judged for Overall Champion Wool on the Hoof at noon. SAC Sheep Health Scheme MV Accredited Classes: Suffolk & Charollais only MV & Non-MV Accredited Classes: Leicester, Texel, Lleyn, Young Handlers, Any Other Continental, Rare Breeds, Any Other Native, Ryelands & Coloured Ryelands, Rare & Minority, Please mark clearly on the entry for MV or Non-MV Accredited Non-MV Accredited Classes: Blue Faced Leicester, Jacobs, Teeswater, Butchers Lambs & Non- Pedigree sheep. Separate accommodation and unloading/loading points will be provided for both categories. Nonaccredited and MV Accredited sheep must travel to and from the Show in separate transport unless they are separated by solid partitions in the vehicle and the vehicle has separate unloading ramps/doors. If any MV Accredited sheep come into close contact with non-accredited sheep, they will lose their status and on return to their own or other Scheme premises, assume the status of the contact sheep. Generally this will require isolation and testing until the status is regained. Separate rings will be provided for MV Accredited and non-accredited sheep. Provided that these requirements are followed MV Accredited sheep will not lose their status and will not require post movement testing on return. MV Accredited sheep being presented at shows must be accompanied by a valid SAC MV Certificate (please note expiry date) stating number and type of sheep. These Certificates are available from the SAC in Inverness and must be presented to either the official Veterinary Surgeon or the Chief Steward, Mrs Lizzie Bentley, or her nominee before the sheep are allowed into the accommodation provided for MV Accredited Sheep. N.B. MV Accredited Stock must be accompanied by a valid SAC Certificate (of status) which must be given to the Chief Steward or Mrs A Welham, and the Secretary will then return them to The Sheep Health Scheme. Will all Sheep Exhibitors PLEASE STATE on their Entry Form if their sheep are MV Accredited. Short tail docking of sheep Exhibitors are reminded that sufficient tail must be retained to cover the vulva of female sheep and the anus of male sheep.
5 Defra Scrapie Monitoring Scheme Exhibitors attending the Show must either: i) Produce a registration certificate proving that they are Scrapie monitored Or ii) Produce a declaration that the sheep/goats are: a) Non-Pregnant and b) Have not lambed/kidded within 30 days prior to the Show Please note that all Sheep Champion Exhibitors must be available for Presentation of Trophies in the Main Ring. No vehicles will be allowed to re-enter the showground until after the Grand Parade NB THE COMMITTEE REQUEST THAT NO LIVESTOCK BE TAKEN FROM THE FIELD BEFORE 3.00PM An additional admission ticket will be issued for entry fees in excess of 10 or over WOOL ON THE HOOF CHAMPIONSHIP Judge: British Wool Board Mr I Brooksbank First prize winners from each section class Best Wool on the Hoof, will come forward to be judged for the Overall Champion Wool on the Hoof. Judging will commence following completion of all sheep sections at noon. INTERBREED CHAMPIONSHIP Judge: Mrs M Watkinson, Thirsk Judging for this class will commence following completion of all sheep sections at pm. Please note that all Sheep Champion Exhibitors must be available. SHEEP EXHIBITORS POINTS CUP The late H Wertheimer Esq Perpetual Challenge Cup This cup is awarded to the exhibitor who gains the most points in classes in the Sheep Sections on the basis of 4 points for a 1st prize, 3 points for a 2nd prize, 2 points for a 3rd prize and 1 point for a 4th prize, where such prizes are awarded. No points for 5th place. In the event of any classes with only ONE EXHIBITOR, points will be limited to four. In the event of a tie, the exhibitor winning the most 1st prizes will be awarded the Cup.
