The historic win ended an epic back-and-forth contest that witnessed 139 combined total points, 19 touchdowns, 1,328 yards of total offense and seven overtime periods. Western Michigan - Buffalo Noteables: Western Michigan s 71 points tied for 7th most in a single game in MAC history. Buffalo s 68 points marked the most points scored by a losing team in a single game in MAC history. The 139 combined points were the most ever in a single game in MAC history. The 1,328 combined yards of total offense (WMU-645; UB-683) marked the third most in a single game in MAC history. The 10 touchdowns by Western Michigan is tied for third most in a single game in MAC history. The 19 combined touchdowns by both teams is the most in a single game in MAC history. The 7 OTs were the most in a single game in MAC history. The 7 OTs tied the most in FBS history: Western Michigan (71) at Buffalo (68), Oct. 7, 2017; Arkansas (58) vs. Ole Miss (56), Nov. 3, 2001; Arkansas (71) vs. Kentucky (63), Nov. 1, 2003; North Texas (25) vs. FIU (22), Oct. 7, 2006 Buffalo QB Drew Anderson s 597 yards passing is the most in a single game in MAC history. Buffalo QB Drew Anderson s 7 passing touchdowns is tied for most in a single game in MAC history. Western Michigan running back Jarvion Franklin rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns on 37 carries, including three touchdowns in the overtime periods. Franklin became just the third Bronco to surpass 4,000 career rushing yards. He also tied the program record with 51 career touchdowns, which ties former wide receiver Corey Davis. The five MAC games features two more crossover games with Akron at Western Michigan at 3:30 pm ET on CBS Sports Network and NIU at Buffalo at 3:30 pm ET on ESPN3. The Akron at Western Michigan contest at Waldo Stadium was selected by CBS Sports Network and will kickoff at 3:30 pm ET. Akron (3-3) has won two consecutive games, while Western Michigan has won four consecutive games, including last week s epic (7OT) win at Buffalo. This year the MAC has 11 FBS wins as Eastern Michigan has the final chance for another non-conference FBS win as the Eagles travel to Army. Last season the MAC had 14 FBS wins. This season in MAC crossover games the East and West Division are tied at 3-3 and will play 18 crossover games during the regular season. The MAC West has had the upper hand in crossover regular season games against the MAC East, winning the head-to-head regular season series in eight of the last nine years ( ) as the West holds a (.673%) regular season record over the East during that span. HUSKIES SUTTON SMITH LEADS NATION IN TFLS AND SACKS Northern Illinois sophomore defensive end Sutton Smith continues to make an impact as his three sacks and four tackles for loss aided the Huskies in a 24-3 win over Kent State on Saturday. For the year, Smith increased his season totals with 14.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks this season as both totals lead the nation. A native of St. Joseph, Mo., Smith and the Huskies are off to a 3-2 start, 1-0 in MAC play and will travel to Buffalo this Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3:30 pm ET/2:30 pm CT on ESPN3. 2 TOLEDO S THOMPSON EXTENDS RECEPTION STREAK Toledo senior wide receiver Cody Thompson ranks tied for eighth in the nation for the longest current reception streak in the nation. Thompson extended his streak to 30 conseutive games, however suffered a leg injury vs. Eastern Michigan and is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. MAC GRADUATE PATCHES DEBUT IN 2017 The 2017 football season will witness 56 MAC football student athletes that have already earned their undergraduate degrees provided with a new and unique MAC Graduate Patch on their football jersey. Every MAC football program is represented with a MAC graduate and Toledo led the Conference and ranked fifth among FBS football programs with 13 graduates this season. Kent State was second in the MAC with 10 graduates and ranked tied for 15th nationally. During this upcoming season, all MAC graduates across the Conference s 23 sponsored sports will be provided the MAC Graduate Patch. MAC-CFP FOUNDATION PROVIDE FUNDING FOR MEMBERSHIP The MAC is providing funding for its entire 12-member institutions to establish a community-based program to continue to build positive relationships within each campus community. During the academic year, the MAC is providing $60, $5,000 for each athletic program for academic initiatives at elementary and/or secondary schools. This is the first year of the MAC s community program and will become an annual event. I am extremely pleased to see the diversity of community programs our athletic programs have partnered for this upcoming season, said MAC Commissioner, Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher. Our students, coaches and athletic administrators support their campus communities with events throughout the year and this opportunity only enhances our support within each community. The funding for the grant is provided through the MAC s partnership with the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation. MAC SECURES $1 MILLION GRANT FOR CLEVELAND SCHOOLS The MAC announced on Sept. 18 that it has secured a $1 million-dollar grant to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) over a five-year period for TEACHing Cleveland, a program to focus on teacher recruitment, mentoring and retention. The MAC secured funding for this program from the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation through its Extra Yard for Teachers platform with a $500,000 contribution toward TEACHing Cleveland. The MAC also secured $250,000 from The George Gund Foundation over the next five years and $150,000 from the Cleveland Foundation over the next three years. The MAC will reapply for additional funding from the Cleveland Foundation in three years. The Mid-American Conference is proud to partner with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to provide funding for this important initiative, said MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher. Teachers are a critical factor in a child s educational success. Through TEACHing Cleveland we will facilitate greater retention of quality teachers to the betterment of the students and to the betterment of Cleveland. I want to thank and applaud the collaborative efforts of the College Football Playoff Foundation, the Cleveland Foundation and The George Gund Foundation in sharing our vision in support Cleveland schools. This grant provides the CMSD and the Cleveland Teachers Union an opportunity to collaborate in recruiting, developing and retaining new teachers to best support the Cleveland area students and community. Increasingly, we are seeing the most talented and dedicated teachers electing to teach in urban school districts, and this funding will be instrumental in our efforts to support and retain those teachers in Cleveland, said Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon. While the choice to educate disadvantaged children is enormously challenging, our goal is to ensure teaching in Cleveland is equally rewarding. The TEACHing Cleveland program will develop programs to assist in the recruitment of highly skilled teachers, foster new teacher development, focusing on culture, exposure to successful practitioners and as a result increasing retention rates. MAC Players of the Week East Division Drew Anderson, Offensive Player of the Week Buffalo, Junior, Quarterack Buffalo junior quarterback Drew Anderson (Orinda, Calif.) threw for a school and MAC single-game record 597 yards and seven touchdowns and added another touchdown on the ground in a OT loss to Western Michigan. His seven touchdowns also tied the single-game MAC record. Anderson completed 35-of-61 pass attempts and didn t throw a single interception. Brandon Harris, Defensive Player of the Week; Bowling Green, Junior, Linebacker Bowling Green junior linebacker Brandon Harris (East Cleveland, Ohio) secured the Falcons first win of the season in a win at Miami. With 1:21 remaining in the game, Miami trailed by just one point and had a first-and-goal at the Bowling Green one-yard line. On the next snap, Harris scooped up a fumble and returned it 93 yards for a touchdown. Nick Gasser, Special Teams Player of Week; Akron, Junior, Punter/Kicker Akron junior punter/kicker Nick Gasser (Liberty Township, Ohio) had a busy day in Akron s 31-3 win over Ball State. He punted six times for 270 yards (45.0 average) with a career long 59-yard punt. Gasser also kicked off six times for 366 yards (61.0 average) with two touchbacks. West Division Jarvion Franklin, Offensive Player of the Week Western Michigan, Senior, Running Back Western Michigan senior running back Jarvion Franklin (Tinley Park, Ill.) had four touchdowns and 176 yards on 37 carries in the Broncos historic OT victory at Buffalo. Franklin ran for 12 yards and spun off a defender to score the game s winning touchdown in the victory. The game set a record for most points scored in FBS history and tied for the most overtimes ever. Sutton Smith, Defensive Player of the Week Northern Illinois, Sophomore, Defensive End Northern Illinois sophomore defensive end Sutton Smith (St. Charles, Mo.) totaled 10 tackles, three sacks and four tackles for loss in a 24-3 win over Kent State. Smith leads the entire FBS in sacks and tackles for loss. While Smith did most of his damage in the Flashes backfield, taking down quarterbacks for losses of 21 yards in sacks while totaling 24 yards in TFLs, he also made 10 total tackles. Sean Bunting, Special Teams Player of Week; Central Michigan, Sophomore, Defensive Back Central Michigan sophomore Sean Bunting (Clinton Township, Mich.) made a key special teams play that turned the game in a win at Ohio. Bunting returned a missed field goal 60 yards for a touchdown with no time on the clock to pull Central Michigan within one point of Ohio, 14-13, entering halftime. Bunting, also a starting cornerback, had nine tackles against the Bobcats.

His first touchdown started the Chips scoring and his second completed the scoring. Conklin played in his first game of the season after breaking a bone in his foot in the preseason. Toledo QB Logan Woodside completed 23-of-34 passes for 289 yards in a win over Eastern Michigan. He completed passes to eight different receivers and now has 8,267 passing yards in his career, moving into second place all-time in Toledo history in career passing yards, passing Terrance Owens (8,203 yards, ). Ohio QB Nathan Rourke rushed for three touchdowns in a loss to Central Michigan. He led Ohio with 105 rushing yards in his fourth straight start and also passed for 160 yards on passing with one interception. Eastern Michigan QB Brogan Roback was passing for 226 yards with two scores in a loss at Toledo. With a pair of touchdown passes, Roback tied Walter Church for second all-time on Eastern Michigan s list. He went over 7,000 career passing yards, becoming just the third Eagle to do so in program history. Akron WR A.J. Coney led the receivers with a career-high six receptions for a career-high 90 yards in a 31-3 win over Ball State. He also had seven yards on punt returns. DEFENSE Eastern Michigan DB Vince Calhoun had a career-best 16 tackles, including 10 solo stops, in a loss at Toledo. Calhoun was crucial as the Eagles held Toledo to its lowest point total of the year (20) and 22 points below its average. Buffalo LB Khalil Hodge had 18 tackles, including a career-best 12 solo stops, in a (7OT) loss to Western Michigan. The junior linebacker also had his first career interception in the game. It was Hodge s third game this season in which he had at least 17 tackles. Toledo DB Kahlil Robinson had two interceptions in his first collegiate start, including one in the final minute to clinch the victory in a win over Eastern Michigan. He also had three tackles. Ohio LB Chad Moore led with nine tackles, including two solo stops, in a loss to Central Michigan. Moore also had a teamhigh two tackles for loss and had an interception, his second of the season, which he returned 11-yards. Akron LB John Lako had a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 31-3 win over Ball State. It marked his second career interception and his first pick six. He finished third on defense with six tackles, including a sack for a loss of six yards, and 1.5 TFL. Central Michigan DE Joe Ostman forced three fumbles and had two sacks and a quarterback hurry in a win at Ohio. Ostman finished with seven tackles. SPECIAL TEAMS NIU K Christian Hagan had a season-long 41-yard field goal in a 24-3 win over Kent State. Hagan also made all three of his PAT tries, extending his streak of consecutive made PATs to 61 dating back to the 2016 season. Ohio P Michael Farkas had three punts for 133 yards, averaging 44.3 yards per punt and pinned two punts inside the 20-yard line in a loss to Central Michigan. Farkas also had four kickoffs for 235 yards including two touchbacks. Buffalo P Kyle DeWeen averaged 50 yards on five punts in a (7OT) loss to Western Michigan. DeWeen kept dangerous returner Darius Phillips from having a single return in the game.

4 MAC BOWL NOTES AND 2016 SEASON Western Michigan won the 2016 Marathon MAC Football Championship Game with a win over Ohio on Dec. 2. The win was Western Michigan s first championship since 1988 and the second football title in program history. Western Michigan entered the bowl season ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 14 in the Amway/USA Today Coaches Poll. The No. 12 AP ranking was the highest in the MAC since Ball State was ranked No. 12 on Nov. 30, 2008 after a 12-0 start. MAC WITH ONE NEW HEAD COACH FOR 2017 Western Michigan named Tim Lester as head coach on Jan. 13, 2017 to replace P.J. Fleck, who accepted the Minnesota head coaching position. Western Michigan: Tim Lester: Lester was named head football coach in Kalamazoo on Jan. 13, Lester was a four-year starter at quarterback at Western Michigan from , leading the Broncos to a Marathon MAC Football Championship game appearance his senior season. Lester also made a stop as an assistant coach at his alma mater during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Western Michigan lost a decision to No. 8 Wisconsin in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Jan. 2. Western Michigan ended the season ranked No. 15 in the AP Poll with a 13-1 record. The Broncos were also ranked No. 15 in the sixth and final College Football Playoff ranking on Dec. 4. Western Michigan s 13-0 mark after the Marathon MAC Football Championship was the first for the MAC since former member Marshall finished the 1999 season with a 13-0 record and a No. 10 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. Six MAC programs received bowl invitations during the 2016 bowl season -- Western Michigan (13-1), Toledo (9-4), Ohio (8-6), Eastern Michigan (7-6), Central Michigan (6-7) and Miami (6-7). The MAC record for bowl invitations in a single-season is seven in both the 2012 and 2015 bowl seasons. Western Michigan (Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic), Ohio (Dollar General Bowl), Toledo (Raycom Media Camellia Bowl), Eastern Michigan (Popeyes Bahamas Bowl), Central Michigan (Miami Beach Bowl) and Miami (St. Petersburg Bowl) represented the MAC in bowl games in This marked the ninth time in MAC history to have five or more programs receive a bowl invitation (2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) in a single-season. In the previous six bowl seasons, the MAC has a record of in 35 bowl games 2016 (0-6); 2015 (3-4); 2014 (2-3); 2013 (0-5); 2012 (2-5); 2011 (4-1) as every MAC football program (13 total all 12 plus former member, Temple) has appeared in a bowl game during this span ( ). Ohio (8-6, 6-2 MAC) won the MAC East Division for the fourth time in the last 11 seasons under head coach Frank Solich. The Marathon MAC Football Championship Game with Western Michigan and Ohio ended a streak of the previous three games ( ) featuring Northern Illinois vs. Bowling Green. Mississippi State 17, Miami 16 Goodyear Cotton Bowl (Arlington, Texas) No. 8 Wisconsin 24, No. 12 Western Michigan MAC NON-CONFERENCE WINS Last season, the MAC concluded its non-conference regular season schedule with 14 FBS wins, which tied for second most for the MAC since The MAC posted 16 FBS wins in 2012, while the 14 FBS wins in 2016 matched the 2008 mark. In 2016, the MAC had four Power Five wins over Northwestern and Illinois (Big Ten) and Oklahoma State and Kansas (Big 12). Among peer Conferences, the MAC posted a 3-2 regular season record vs. Conference USA and Sun Belt Conference, a 3-3 record vs. Mountain West and 0-3 vs. the American Athletic Conference. Lester began his coaching career in 2003 and most recently was the quarterbacks coach at Purdue in Lester came to the Boilermakers from Syracuse, where he served as quarterbacks coach from 2013 to 2015 and doubled as offensive coordinator in 2014 and 2015 as well. Prior to working at Syracuse, Lester was the head coach at Division III Elmhurst (Illinois) College from 2008 to Over five seasons, he posted a record for a.635 winning percentage, second highest in school history. In his final season in 2012, he led the Blue Jays to a 10-2 record and a CCIW conference championship as well as Elmhurst s first-ever NCAA playoff appearance. It was just the third championship in school history and the first title since Lester was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Coach of the Year that season. Lester finished his Western Michigan career ranked fourth in FBS history in passing yards (11,299) and sixth in touchdown passes (89). Lester set 17 school passing records and eight MAC records. Following his senior season, in which he threw for 3,639 yards and 34 touchdowns, Lester participated in the 1999 Blue-Gray Classic. As an assistant coach at Western Michigan he coached quarterback Tim Hiller to MAC Freshman of the Year accolades in Lester was Western Michigan s first QB to throw for over 11,000 career yards and Hiller went on to become the second. Miami set the record as the only program in FBS history to begin a season 0-6, then win six consecutive games to finish 6-6 overall and receive a bowl invitation. Miami was bowl eligible for the first time since the 2010 season. Miami ended the year with a loss to Mississippi State in the St. Petersburg Bowl on Dec. 26, 2016.

5 WOODSIDE RISING AMONG UT CAREER RECORDS Toledo senior quarterback Logan Woodside had an impressive 2016 as a starting quarterback and has set several school passing records at the University of Toledo. Last season, Woodside was passing (69.1%) for 4,129 yards passing and 45 touchdowns as the Rockets finished with a 9-4 overall record, 6-2 in the MAC and an invitation to the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. Woodside s 45 touchdown passes ranked second among MAC alltime leaders and set the school record, while his 4,129 yards passing ranked as sixth-best in MAC single season history and ranked fourth overall in the nation last season. Western Michigan s Butch Hampton set the MAC record for most points in a single season by a kicker with 128 total points. Hampton (128 points) and Zervos (122 points) were the top two leading scorers in the MAC as Hampton converted field goals and PATs, while Zervos connected on field goals and PATs. 6 OHIO S SOLICH THIRD ON MAC CAREER WINS LIST Ohio head coach Frank Solich and his Bobcats finished 2016 with an 8-6 overall record and won the East Division Crown and this season is off to a 4-2 start after the Bobcats fell to Central Michgian, Solich continues to rise up the MAC career head coaching win list with 92 wins, which ranks third most in MAC history. Solich has been the recent model for consistency in coaching in the MAC. Solich arrived in Athens, Ohio in 2005 and now in his 13th season running the Bobcats program has garnered a bowl appearance in seven of the last eight seasons and eight of his 12 seasons at Ohio. NFF HONOR SOCIETY HONORS 30 MAC STUDENTS The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the members of the 2017 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. The MAC was represented with 30 students honored by the National Football Foundation, including three-time All-MAC quarterback Zach Terrell of Western Michigan, who also was honored with the 2016 William V. 7 MAC 2017 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS The 2017 football schedule will feature 22 nationally televised games during late October and November on ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3 and CBS Sports Network as the conference race unfolds in both the East and West divisions. The regular season will conclude with the 21st Marathon MAC Football Championship game on Saturday, Dec. 2nd at a time to be determined from Ford Field in Detroit. This will mark the 14th Marathon MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, Super Bowl XL, and the 2009 NCAA Men s Final Four. For the 10th year in a row, league schools will face a formidable non-conference slate of opponents from the following Football Bowl Subdivision conferences ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC and Notre Dame. In addition, the Conference will also face opponents from the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mountain West Conference, Sun Belt Conference and Independent Notre Dame and Army. Last year s MAC champion Western Michigan was ranked No. 15 in the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll. 8 MAC MEDIA 2017 FOOTBALL PRESEASON POLL Earlier this summer members of the media selected Toledo and Ohio to win the West and East Divisions respectfully in the 2017 MAC Football Media Preseason Poll. Toledo was selected to win the 2017 Marathon MAC Football Championship Game. In the East Division, defending East Division Champion Ohio was selected first with 131 total points, only two points greater that second-place selection Miami RedHawks with 129 total points. Bowling Green finished third with 88 points, followed by Akron with 79 points, then Buffalo and Kent State. In the West Division, Toledo was selected first in the Division and led the entire poll with 142 total points. Taylor, who spent 13 of his 15 seasons in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, is the first Zips player elected to the Hall of Fame and the second in the history of the MAC, joining Kent State linebacker Jack Lambert of Pittsburgh. Taylor was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. A third-round pick out of Akron in the 1997 NFL draft, Taylor ended his career in 2011 as the Miami Dolphins all-time leader in sacks and forced fumbles. A six-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time AP All-Pro first-team choice, Taylor was named the 2006 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and was selected as the Walter Payton Man of the Year in MAC & CBS SPORTS NETWORK MULTI-YEAR DEAL In June of 2015, the MAC and CBS Sports Network announced a multi-year deal to televise college football and basketball games from the Mid-American Conference. The deal, which begins this season and continues through , is through a sublicense agreement with ESPN. CBS Sports Network will air up to 12 football and 12 basketball games per year. CBS Sports Network, the 24-hour home of CBS Sports, is available across the country through local cable, video and telco providers and via satellite on DirecTV Channel 221 and Dish Network Channel 158. MAC AND ESPN ANNOUNCE HISTORIC 13-YEAR RIGHTS EXTENSION DEAL THROUGH SEASON In 2014, the MAC and ESPN announced a 13-year rights agreement that will be the largest and most extensive agreement in the history of the Conference. The extension, which adds provisions to the remaining three years of the original national rights agreement and adds an additional 10 years to the deal with ESPN, brings long-term security to the MAC through the academic year. MAC FOOTBALL COACHES PRESEASON POLL MAC Head Football Coaches have provided their own 2017 Preseason Poll and based upon voting by all 12 head coaches Ohio and Toledo have been selected to win the East and West Divisions respectfully. In the East Division, a margin of only eight points separated firstplace and second-place. Ohio was selected first with 69 total points followed by second-place Miami with 61 points. Bowling Green was selected third followed by Akron, Buffalo and Kent State. In the West Division, the margin was also only eight points as Toledo was selected in first with 66 points followed by second-place Western Michigan with 58 points. The 2017 MAC football regular season will be highlighted by national coverage of 22 mid-week games during the month of November on ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.The Marathon MAC Football Championship Game is Saturday, Dec. 2. MAC PART OF NEW COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF ERA The 2017 college football season enters the fourth year of the current four-team playoff era with the College Football Playoff. The two College Football Playoff Semifinals will be played in bowl games this year (Allstate Sugar Bowl; Rose Bowl presented by Northwestern Mutual) and the College Football Playoff National Championship will be played in Atlanta on Jan. 8. The two Semifinals and four other premier bowl games Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (Dec. 29), Capital One Orange Bowl (Dec. 30), PlayStation Fiesta Bowl (Dec. 30) and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (Jan. 1) highlight the annual bowl season calendar. The Semifinal games will rotate among these six different bowls. All MAC programs will join every FBS team in college football with equal access to the playoff based upon its performance. No team will qualify automatically. The College Football Playoff Selection Committee will choose four teams for the playoffs based on body of work, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, comparison of results against common opponents, championships won and other factors.

9 MAC Week Six Quick Recaps: MAC Week Six Quick Recaps: Western Michigan 71, Buffalo 68 (7OT) -- Western Michigan running back Jarvion Franklin s 12-yard touchdown run in the seventh overtime session provided the Broncos a win over Buffalo at UB Stadium on Saturday evening. The historic win ended an epic back-and-forth contest that witnessed 139 combined total points, 19 touchdowns, 1,328 yards of total offense and seven overtime periods. The game tied the FBS record of seven overtimes with a recordbreaking 139 total points. Buffalo had just converted on a 25-yard field goal to open the door for the Broncos who scored in just four plays. It was the fourth game in FBS history to go into seven overtimes. Missed, made and blocked field goals made the difference in the game, as both offenses grew stronger as the contest wore on. Buffalo s Adam Mitcheson nailed a 34-yarder to tie the score at 31 with 34 seconds left in regulation. Western Michigan freshman kicker Josh Grant attempted a 52-yarder as time expired but Buffalo s Jarrett Franklin tipped the kick to deny a chance at a regulation win. Buffalo QB Drew Anderson s 597 yards passing is the most in a single game in MAC history and his seven passing touchdowns is tied for most in a single game in MAC history. Central Michigan 26, Ohio Central Michigan tight end Tyler Conklin made his 2017 debut a memorable one as he made 10 catches for 136 yards both career highs -- and two touchdowns in leading the Chippewas to a victory over Ohio before 23,570 at Peden Stadium. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and was the Chippewas first in the MAC this season. CMU is 3-3, 1-1 league. The Chippewas ended Ohio s three-game win streak. The Bobcats are 4-2, 1-1. Conklin, who missed the Chippewas first five games with a foot injury, made is presence felt almost immediately. His first catche went for 19 yards on the Chippewas first possession, which ended in a 16-yard Conklin touchdown catch from quarterback Shane Morris. Trailing 14-7 with 6 seconds left in the first half, the Chippewas blocked an Ohio field goal attempt and Sean Bunting scooped up the loose ball and raced 60 yards to pull CMU to within a point, 14-13, at the break. Akron 31, Ball State 3 -- Akron football entered the second half with a 14-point advantage and tacked on 14 more points en route to a 31-3 win over Ball State during Saturday s Homecoming game at InfoCision Stadium Summa Field. With the win, the Zips moved to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play and 3-3 overall, while Ball State fell to 0-2 in the MAC and 2-4 overall. Senior QB Thomas Woodson completed 17 passes for 211 yards with two touchdowns. Senior WR A.J. Coney hauled in six passes for a team-best 90 yards, while junior WR Kwadarrius Smith caught three passes for 74 yards and a touchdown and senior WR Austin Wolf was targeted four times for 57 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, sophomore RB Deltron Sands racked up 53 yards on six carries with a 32-yard touchdown run, while senior RB Manny Morgan used eight carries for 44 yards. Defensively, the Zips issued five sacks and three interceptions while limiting the Cardinals to just three points. Junior LB Ulysees Gilbert III and senior LB Andrew Hauser led Akron with 13 tackles apiece. Gilbert added a sack for eight yards of loss, while Hauser grabbed his first career interception. Toledo 20, Eastern Michigan Toledo senior quarterback Logan Woodside threw for 289 yards and sophomore safety Kahlil Robinson intercepted two passes to lead Toledo to a victory over Eastern Michigan at the Glass Bowl on Saturday. Robinson, starting in his first game as a collegian, picked off his second pass at the Toledo 31-yard line with 55 seconds left in the game to snuff out a last-minute Eagle rally and clinch the Rocket victory. Woodside completed 23-of-34 passes on the day. His top target was sophomore Diontae Johnson, who caught eight passes for 97 yards. Sophomore Art Thompkins, starting in place of the injured Terry Swanson, led the rushing attack with 94 yards on 15 carries. Toledo s leading receiver, senior Cody Thompson, was injured early in the game and never returned. Head coach Jason Candle said after the game that Thompson suffered a leg injury and likely is lost for the season. Bowling Green 37, Miami Bowling Green s Brandon Harris returned a fumble 93 yards to the house to seal the first taste of victory in 2017 as the Falcons defeated Miami on Saturday. Bowling Green improves to 1-5 overall and, more importantly, 1-1 in MAC play. Teo Redding caught eight passes for 197 yards, including two huge scoring passes in the second half. On the first play after halftime, James Morgan hit Redding in stride with a spiral down the left sideline for a 75-yard touchdown. Early in the fourth quarter, Redding made a diving catch of a Morgan rainbow in the left corner of the end zone. That 28-yard score gave Bowling Green the lead for good with 12:15 to play. However, the critical moment of the game occurred in the final two minutes. Backup quarterback Billy Bahl led Miami on a 76-yard drive over six plays to the Bowling Green one-yard line, including back-to-back 27-yard completions. The RedHawks needed just a field goal to win, but a bad snap on first-and-goal was batted backwards. Brandon Harris scooped it up at his own 7-yard line and raced 93 yards for a touchdown. Down eight, Miami still had a chance to tie, but four incompletions from the Bowling Green 27-yard line ended their hopes. NIU 24, Kent State 3 -- On a rainy, windy day at Huskie Stadium, the Northern Illinois University Huskies relied on a dominating defensive performance to earn a 24-3 MAC victory over Kent State. The Huskies allowed the Golden Flashes to earn just 131 yards in the game, 102 rushing and 29 passing, while giving up only nine first downs. Kent State converted just two-of-16 first downs a week after NIU held San Diego State to just one-of-14 conversions. Shawun Lurry, Jawuan Johnson and Bobby Jones IV intercepted passes in the game. Johnson led the Huskies with 12 tackles, two for loss, while Sutton Smith had a career high 10 tackles with three sacks and four tackles for loss. The Huskies totaled six sacks, the most by an NIU defense since the 2013 season. Neither team started well offensively as the game started with four punts. NIU then inserted redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Childers, who directed a 12-play, 80-yard drive to give the Huskies all the points they would need in the game. Childers ran for 42 yards on the drive, including a 28-yard rush, and hit Spencer Tears with a 10-yard touchdown pass, the first of his Huskie career. Christian Hagan s PAT gave NIU a 7-0 lead with two minutes to play in the first quarter.
