Toledo senior quarterback Logan Woodside completed 23-of-31 passes for 361 yards to establish the Toledo school record for career passing yards with 9,288 yards, surpassing 9,225 passing yards set by Bruce Gradkowski ( ). It was the fifth-most yards Woodside has thrown for in a single game in his Rocket career. Toledo senior running back Terry Swanson posted his own career mark with a career-high 29 carries for 116 yards and three touchdowns. Swanson increased his career rushing yards total to 3,082 yards becoming only the seventh Rocket in school history to crack the 3,000-yard barrier. Central Michigan scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to turn a deficit into a win at Western Michigan on Nov. 1 to win the Battle of the Cannon Trophy. Central Michigan quarterback Shane Morris found wide receiver Corey Willis for a 77-yard touchdown pass with 2:37 left in regulation for the win. Eastern Michigan snapped its six-game losing streak with a convincing win over Ball State on Nov. 2. The Eagles scored five touchdowns on its first six drives in the victory. The 42-point differential marked the largest in Conference play for the Eagles since joining the MAC and the 56 points are the most by the Eagles against a MAC opponent since Eastern Michigan senior quarterback Brogan Roback threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns as the offense posted 488 yards of total offense. Roback eclipsed the 8,000 career passing yards milestone, becoming only the second Eastern Michigan quarterback (9,142, Walter Church, ) to do so. His three touchdown passes moved him to within one touchdown pass of matching Eastern Michigan s career passing touchdown record of 53 by Charlie Batch. Ohio posted a win over Miami on Oct. 31 to win the 94th meeting for the Battle of the Bricks. Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke accounted for six touchdowns, three passing and three rushing. Rourke was passing for 294 yards and rushed for 54 yards in the win. Ohio Bobcat senior linebacker Quentin Poling led the defense with 10 tackles and became Ohio s all-time career leader in solo tackles with 207 during his career. Western Michigan senior running back Jarvion Franklin rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Central Michigan on Nov. 1. Franklin became the program s all-time leader in career touchdowns with 54 career touchdowns, eclipsing last year s record set by wide receiver Corey Davis (52 career touchdowns). Franklin rushed for a 47-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to break the record and added a nine-yard score in the third quarter for his 54th career score. The 228 yards rushing was his third 200-yard rushing game of his career while also eclipsing the century mark for the fourth straight game and 20th time in his career. Follow the MAC On Snapchat (MACSports) and Instagram (MACSports) MAC Storylines The game of the week is a potential preview of next month s Championship Game as Toledo takes its 5-0 MAC record on the road to Athens, Ohio to face the Ohio Bobcats on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 pm ET (ESPN2). Toledo sits atop the West Division with an undefeated 5-0 mark and 8-1 overall record, while Ohio is tied for first-place with Akron in the MAC East Division with a 4-1 league record, 7-2 overall. The MAC has three teams bowl eligible -- Toledo (8-1), Ohio (7-2) and NIU (6-3). Three other programs need only one more victory to become bowl eligible -- Akron (5-4), Central Michigan (5-4) and Western Michigan (5-4). Week 11 features six Conference games as midweek football continues. On Tuesday, Nov. 7 will feature Akron at Miami at 7:30 pm ET (ESPN2) and Bowling Green at Buffalo at 7:30 pm ET (ESPNU). Three games are scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8 with Toledo at Ohio at 7:00 pm ET (ESPN2), Kent State at Western Michigan at 7:00 pm ET (CBS Sports Network) and Eastern Michigan at Central Michigan at 8:00 pm ET (ESPNU). 2 MIDWEEK MACTION FEATURED IN WEEK 11 Midweek MACtion continues as the Conference will showcase midweek games on national television this week Tuesday, Nov. 7, Wednesday, Nov. 8 and Thursday, Nov. 9. The MAC began midweek football in 1999 and this season marks the 19th year of playing during the week. This season the MAC will have 22 games nationally televised on Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday during the last five weeks of the regular season. MAC TRIO LEADS THE NATION IN QUARTERBACK SACKS Once again, a trio of MAC defensive ends continue to lead the nation in defensive sacks. Ball State senior Anthony Winbush leads the nation with 10.5 sacks (1.17 per game), while Central Michigan senior Joe Ostman ranks second in the country with 10 sacks (1.25 per game). Northern Illinois sophomore Sutton Smith ranks third in the nation with his 9.5 sacks (1.06 per game). NIU S SMITH NAMED SEMIFINALIST FOR BEDNARIK AWARD Northern Illinois defensive end Sutton Smith has been named one of 18 semifinalists for the 2017 Chuck Bednarik Award as the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year. Smith, a sophomore in his first season as a starter, leads the FBS in tackles for loss with 20 (2.2 per game) and ranks third with 9.5 quarterback sacks (1.06 per game). He is the first Huskie player to be named a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award since ROCKETS WOODSIDE SEMIFINALIST FOR UNITAS AWARD Toledo senior quarterback Logan Woodside was one of 10 students named as a finalist for the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which honors the top quarterback from all divisions for accomplishments on and off the field. Woodside leads the MAC in passing yards (295.1 per game) and passing efficiency (171.4) for the 8-1 Rockets this season. He has thrown for 19 touchdowns against just two interceptions. He graduated with a 3.4 grade point average in marketing last December, and is currently working on his master s degree. Woodside is also a candidate for the Maxwell Award, which is given to the nation s player of the year; the Davey O Brien Award, which honors the nation s top quarterback; and the Manning Award, another honor given to the nation s top quarterback following the bowl season. The 30th anniversary presentation of the Golden Arm Award will be held on Friday, Dec. 8 at the Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor & Grand. The award is named for Johnny Unitas, an 18-year veteran of the NFL who played his collegiate career at the University of Louisville before joining the Baltimore Colts in TOLEDO S VEST NAMED SEMIFINALIST FOR GROZA AWARD Toledo junior kicker Jameson Vest was named one of 20 national semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, which annually honors the top placekicker in the nation. A native of Peachtree City, Ga., Vest has made 19 of 22 field goal attempts this season, with a long kick of 49 yards vs. Miami (Fla.). He leads the MAC and is second in the nation with 2.1 field goals made per game. Semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award will be voted on by a panel of more than 100 FBS head coaches, sports information directors, media members, former Groza finalists and current NFL kickers to select the three finalists. These finalists will be announced on Nov. 21 and honored at the 26th annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Awards Banquet on Dec. 4 in Palm Beach County. The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou The Toe Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker. MARATHON MAC FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP DEC. 2 AT NOON The 2017 Marathon MAC Football Championship Game will kickoff on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Noon ET from Ford Field in Detroit and will be broadcast nationally on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The 2017 Marathon MAC Football Championship game will feature the Champions from both the MAC East and West Divisions and will be the 21st Championship Game for the MAC and the 14th game played at Ford Field. Tickets for the Marathon MAC Football Championship Game are available at FordField.com, via phone at (877) and at the Ford Field Ticket Office. Tickets are available for $20 sideline, $15 corner and $10 general admission in the end zone. MAC Players of the Week East Division Nathan Rourke, Offensive Player of the Week Ohio, Sophomore, Quarterback Ohio sophomore quarterback Nathan Rourke (Ontario, Canada) was responsible for six touchdowns, including three rushing touchdowns and passing for three others, in a win over Miami on Oct. 31. Rourke finished with 54 rushing yards and 294 passing yards, a career high, going with no interceptions or sacks. He leads the MAC in overall scoring (96) and rushing touchdowns (16). Nate Locke, Defensive Player of the Week; Bowling Green, Senior, Linebacker Bowling Green senior linebacker Nate Locke (Canton, Ohio) totaled eight tackles, four tackles for loss and one sack in a win at Kent State on Oct. 31. Locke picked up 4.0 tackles for loss, which matched his total through the first eight games of the season. On the season, Locke leads the Falcons with 8.0 tackles for loss, and is second on the team with 65 tackles. Matthew Wilcox, Special Teams Player of Week; Bowling Green, Freshman, Kickoff Returner Bowling Green freshman kickoff returner Matthew Wilcox (Huber Heights, Ohio) had a huge day returning kicks in Bowling Green s victory at Kent State on Oct. 31. Wilcox averaged 40.0 yards on three kick returns, including a 61-yard return that is Bowling Green s longest kick return since The 61-yard return gave the Falcons the ball at the Kent State 38 yard line. West Division Jonathan Ward, Offensive Player of the Week Central Michigan, Sophomore, Running Back Central Michigan sophomore running back Jonathan Ward (Kankakee, Ill.) had 213 all-purpose yards in a victory at Western Michigan on Nov. 1. Ward had 132 rushing yards on 17 carries and scored on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter to lead a 21-point fourth-quarter comeback on the road. He also had four catches for 81 yards. Trevon Mathis, Defensive Player of the Week; Toledo, Senior, Defensive Back Toledo senior defensive back Trevon Mathis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) picked off two passes in a win over NIU on Nov. 2, including a fourth-quarter interception that stopped a Huskie drive at the Toledo 33-yard line. Prior to the NIU game, Mathis had three interceptions in his entire career. He also had six tackles and broke up one pass. Jack Sheldon, Special Teams Player of Week; Central Michigan, Junior, Punter Central Michigan junior punter Jack Sheldon (Echuca, Victoria, Australia) punted nine times and put Western Michigan inside the 20-yard line three times in a victory on Nov. 1. Sheldon had a long of 60 yards on a rainy evening, and he average 44.2 yards per punt.

It was the eighth three-plus touchdown game of his career, and he now has 52 total for his career, placing him one behind Charlie Batch for the school record. Roback went over 8,000 career-passing yards in the first half to become the second player in program history. Toledo QB Logan Woodside completed passes for 361 yards in a win over NIU on Nov. 2. It was the fifth-highest number of passing yards in a single game for him and gives him 9,288 yards for his career and making him Toledo s career passing yardage leader. Toledo RB Terry Swanson rushed for 116 yards on a career-best 29 attempts, scoring a career-high three touchdowns in a win over NIU on Nov. 2. Swanson now has 3,082 rushing yards for his career, just the seventh Rocket to crack the 3,000-yard barrier. He ranks seventh on Toledo s all-time list. Bowling Green QB Jarret Doege led a win at Kent State on Oct. 31. Doege completed 14-of-18 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. DEFENSE Ohio LB Quentin Poling posted 10 tackles, 1.5 tfl and one quarterback hurry in a win over Miami on Oct. 31. Poling moved into first place on the Ohio career solo tackles chart with 207 during his career. He leads Ohio and ranks third in the MAC with 80 tackles including 35 solo stops. Poling needs just two more tackles to become 10th all-time at Ohio. NIU LB Jawuan Johnson made six tackles, four solo, in a loss at Toledo on Nov. 2. The Huskies limited Toledo s potent offense to three touchdowns and two field goals. Johnson had a big effect, especially with his play in the red zone. He forced a fumble at the one-yard line which NIU recovered in the end zone to stop one scoring chance. Late in the first half, his tackle for a one-yard loss on third and goal from the five-yard line forced a field goal. Central Michigan DL Nate Brisson-Fast had 2.5 sacks and five tackles in a victory at Western Michigan on Nov. 1. Eastern Michigan DB Jeff Hubbard intercepted a pass and returned it 46 yards for a touchdown in a win over Ball State on Nov. 2. It was the first interception of Hubbard s career, as well as the first touchdown. SPECIAL TEAMS Toledo K Jameson Vest hit both of field goal attempts and was 3-for-3 on PATs in at win over NIU on Nov. 2. Vest hit field goals of 23 and 34 yards and averaged 63.7 yards on kickoffs with three touchbacks. Eastern Michigan K Paulie Fricano went a perfect 8-for-8 in extra points to tie the school record for PATs in a win over Ball State on Nov. 2. It was the second time in his career he has hit eight extra points in a game. His efforts helped Eastern to its largest margin of victory over a conference opponent since joining the MAC in 1976, as well as totaling the most points against a MAC school since Northern Illinois S Jackson Abresch blocked a punt late in the third quarter of a loss at Toledo on Nov. 2. Abresch burst through the line untouched to block the punt and then recovered the punt at the Toledo 11-yard line. NIU got a field goal off of the block to pull within 10 points of Toledo as the fourth quarter. Ohio P Michael Farkas had seven punts for 253 yards including pinning four of those punts inside the 20-yard line in a win over Miami on Oct. 31.

4 MAC Week Ten Quick Recaps: MAC Week Ten Quick Recaps: Toledo 27, Northern Illinois Toledo senior quarterback Logan Woodside threw for 361 yards as the Rockets overcame a determined Northern Illinois squad, 27-17, in a critical MAC West Division battle. With the victory, Toledo (8-1, 5-0 MAC) claims sole possession of first place in the MAC s West Division, one game ahead of NIU (6-3, 4-1 MAC). Woodside completed 23-of-31 passes on his way to setting the Toledo record for career passing yards. He ended the day with 9,288 career passing yards, 62 more than previous record-holder Bruce Gradkowski (9,225 from ). Toledo senior running back Terry Swanson reached a milestone of his own, becoming the seventh Rocket to rush for more than 3,000 yards in his career. Swanson was a workhorse, running the ball a career-best 29 times for 116 yards and three touchdowns, also a career high. He now has 3,082 yards in his four-year career. Toledo trailed early in the third quarter, 14-10, but outscored the Huskies 17-3 the rest of the way. Swanson scored twice in the third quarter to give Toledo a edge heading into the final quarter. The Rockets defense stepped up when it needed to, forcing NIU into a 47-yard field-goal attempt that missed with 3:46 to play. Senior cornerback Trevon Mathis snagged a pair of interceptions for the first time in his career, while senior defensive end Olasunkanmi Adeniyi had a career-high 10 tackles and one sack. Eastern Michigan 56, Ball State Eastern Michigan notched a convincing victory over Ball State. Eastern Michigan scored five touchdowns on its first six drives to take a commanding lead at halftime. Three of the Eagles scoring drives were five plays or less. Plenty of records fell in Rynearson Stadium with Eastern Michigan s 42-point differential marking the largest in conference play for the Eagles since joining the MAC in Eastern Michigan s previous high-water mark was a 41 point defeat of Kent State University during the 1996 campaign. Eastern Michigan moved to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in league action to keep its hopes of a second consecutive bowl appearance alive. Meanwhile, Ball State dropped to 2-7 and 0-5 in the MAC. Battling through wet conditions, the Eastern Michigan offense rolled up a season-high 225 on the ground en route to 488 overall. Orchestrating the Eagle attack was senior quarterback Brogan Roback, who eclipsed the 8,000 career passing yards on 15 completions for 263 yards. Eagles Johnnie Niupalau equaled a career best with five receptions for a personal-best 91 yards and a score. Senior Sergio Bailey II finished with his fourth 100 yard game of his career with 110 yards on two receptions, including a 74-yarder for a score. Western Michigan 35, Central Michigan Central Michigan stormed back with 21 fourth quarter points for a win at Western Michigan on a rainy Wednesday night at Waldo Stadium. Central Michigan turned a deficit into a win to claim the rivalry victory in the Battle of the Cannon Trophy. With the win, Central Michigan improves to 5-4 overall, 3-2 in the MAC, while Western Michigan drops to 5-4 on the year, also 3-2 in league play. It was the first victory over the Broncos for third-year Central Michigan head coach John Bonamego. In the fourth quarter, Chippewas running back Jonathan Ward s 29 yard touchdown run and quarterback Shane Morris nine-yard touchdown pass to Eric Cooper tied the contest, 28-28, with 5:50 remaining. Central Michigan s Morris then connected with Corey Willis for a 77-yard touchdown pass with 2:37 left in regulation for the game winning score and a final. Ohio 45, Miami Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke accounted for six touchdowns as the Bobcats defeated archrival Miami in the 94th meeting of the Battle of the Bricks on Oct. 31 at Peden Stadium. Rourke accounted for all of the Bobcats touchdowns on the night, three coming on the ground and three in the air. The three rushing touchdowns from Rourke increased his season total to 16, the most ever by a quarterback in a single season in Ohio history. Rourke finished with 54 rushing yards and passing for a career-high 294 yards. Ohio finished 443 total yards of offense. Redshirt junior running back A.J. Ouellette ran for 80 yards on 20 carries. Bowling Green 44, Kent State Bowling Green quarterback Jarret Doege and the Falcons responded with a win at Kent State on Oct. 31. Doege completed passes to eight different receivers and threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns. He directed a Falcon offense that scored a touchdown on the opening drive and ultimately went 7-for-7 in red zone opportunities. Bowling Green took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in seven plays for a lead they would never relinquish. The primary thrust on the drive was a 43-yard run by Andrew Clair. That propelled Clair to a night of eight carries for 111 yards, his fourth consecutive 100-yard game.
