The 1,062 minutes she added to her career ledger in went as the sixth-most played in one season in program history. DILLARD SCORING IN BUNCHES Cierra Dillard averaged 10.6 points per contest and was the second-highest scoring Minutewoman last season. She was the first UMass freshman to average at least 10 points per game since Jasmine Watson in , when the now-professional player scored 10.2 per game. She started off on a good note pouring in 21 points at Holy Cross. Through three games, she is averaging 11.3 points this season. 3

4 CLUTCH IN CRUNCH TIME Cierra Dillard spearheaded the UMass win over American last season when she scored 15 of her 18 points during the second half. Dillard s only made shot of the first half was a three-pointer that put UMass up, with two seconds left in the stanza. She was 5-of-10 from the floor and 5-for-6 at the foul line during the second half, in which she played 17 minutes. She upped her second-half success in the win over Holy Cross when she poured in 17 of her career-high 21 points and went 6-for-8 from the floor to lead UMass to its comeback win over the Crusaders. Dillard added another strong second half performance in the win at Saint Joseph s when she scored 11 of her 18 points after the break. The Rochester, N.Y., native most recently provided all 11 of her points after halftime during an overtime win versus George Mason on Feb. 11. Dillard more than doubled her scoring output from the first half in the second stanza. She averaged 3.1 points (93 total) during the first half and scored 7.5 after the break (226). SCORING LIKE SHE WASN T A FRESHMAN Cierra Dillard was one of three A-10 freshmen ranked in the top-30 scorers across the conference last year. Rhode Island s Charise Wilson led the trio with 16.1 points per game (fourth overall in the A-10). Davidson s Mackenzie Latt was second at 11.6 scored on average (21st) while Dillard ranked third with 10.6 points per game (tied-23rd). IMPRESSIVE DEBUT FOR STALLWORTH Bria Stallworth scored 19 points and added six assists in her first career game for UMass in the win over Holy Cross. The performance netted her Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors. For the course of the game, she played a total of 38 minutes going 8-for-13 from the floor and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. A FIRST FOR KYMBER HILL Kymber Hill recorded her first collegiate double-double on 10 points and as many rebounds against North Texas in Hill was 4-for-7 from the floor 2-of-4 at the foul line while she split her 10 boards evenly between the offen- sive and defensive ends of the court. THREE STRAIGHT WITH SIX DIMES Last season, Leah McDerment produced the first set of three consecutive games with six or more assists by a Minutewoman in more than three seasons when she had six each at Rhode Island (Feb. 4) and La Salle (Feb. 7) before she dished out a career-high eight in the OT victory over George Mason (Feb. 11). Megan Zullo was the last Minutewoman with at least six assists in three straight games, a feat she accomplished against Rhode Island (six assists; Jan. 26, 2011), St. Bonaventure (six; Jan. 29, 2011) and Duquesne (10; Feb. 2, 2011). FREE THROWS HELP PUT THEM ON TOP The Minutewomen took more free throws than the opposition in 15-of-30 games last year, including each of the 12 victories. When foes earn a greater number of trips to the foul line UMass went VISION FROM BEYOND THE ARC On-target performances during A-10 play earned the Minutewomen the third-highest three-point field goal percentage among all conference teams (.346; 113-of-327) during the season. The improved accuracy also gave UMass the third-best percentage in league play (.352; 68-of-193). Emily Mital paved the way for the Minutewomen with 55 makes in 129 attempts (42.6 percent), the third-highest individual percentage in the A-10. She finished first in the league during A-10 play at 45.5 percent as Mital went 30-for-66 versus A-10 foes. KEEPING AN EXPANDED ROTATION Sharon Dawley used at least 10 of the 12 active student-athletes on the roster in all but four con- tests. Eight players averaged at least 10 minutes per game, led by Rashida Timbilla s 35.4 in each contest. Alyssa Lawrence redshirted as per NCAA transfer policy and was the only competitor on the 13-person roster not eligible to compete as a result while Alyx Stiff did not compete in the seven games due to injury. THE SAME STARTING FIVE UMass used the same starting five in 27 of 30 games last season, including the first 19 played. Leah McDerment served as the point guard, Cierra Dillard was the shooting guard, Rashida Timbilla held down guard/forward, Kim Pierre-Louis started at forward (No. 4) and Kymber Hill was the center. UMass was the only A-10 team to use the same starting five in each of the opening 19 games this season before the Minutewomen switched lineups for matchup purposes versus St. Bonaventure on Jan. 31. By comparison, in the Minutewomen used 10 different starting lineups. TEAM-WIDE ACCURACY UMass ranked third in the Atlantic 10 with its.407 field goal percentage as a team in Individually, five Minutewomen with a minimum of 45 shots attempted connected on at least 40.0 percent of their tries, led by Kim Pierre-Louis 53.3 conversion rate (221-of-415), ahead of Rashida Timbilla (.443; 102-of-230) and Amber Dillon (.417; 48-of-115). Ciara Rosten (.405; 40-of-74) and Maggie Mulligan (.404; 19-of-47). The squad shot above 42.0 percent as a group in 11 games, including eight of the 12 victories. THE BUDDY SYSTEM WORKS In the 12 victories last year, UMass averaged 15.2 assists (182) on 24.0 made field goals (288) in each contest. That gave the squad a dish on 63.3 percent of field goals made on average during each win. However, during the 18 losses, UMass only distrib- uted 12.1 assists (218) on 20.9 shots converted (376), equivalent to 57.9 percent. ACCURACY & BOARDS A MUST Unsurprisingly, UMass secured wins in 11 of the 16 contests the Minutewomen earned a higher shoot- ing percentage than their foes. They went 1-13 when the opposition shot better. Simultaneously, UMass was 10-5 when outrebounded foes and 2-13 when the squad was out-boarded. SURE-HANDED WITH THE GLASS UMass women s basketball limited opponents to 36.4 rebounds per game in , the fourth-few- est allowed in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Rashida Timbilla spearheaded the boarding efforts with a team-high 9.4 grabbed per game, good for second individually among A-10 competitors. Kim Pierre-Louis was second among Minutewomen and eighth in the league with 7.5 on average. Massachusetts limited foes to fewer than 32 boards during six games on the year, including lastly when the squad held Rhode Island to 29 on March 1. The fewest allowed during this campaign was 23 to American in a win on Dec. 6. The last time UMass limited a team to 23 or fewer boards was Kent State (23) on Nov. 10, a span of 70 games between each instance. IF YOU BUILD IT, YOU WILL WIN Last season, UMass won nine of the 11 games it built a lead early and held going into the break. Those nine games, in order of occurrence, included Maine (halftime: 32-25; final: 68-60), Central Florida (37-36; 30-26), American (26-24; 45-37), Boston University (44-32; 78-57), Saint Joseph s (30-20; 65-47), La Salle at home (35-25; 71-68), Davidson (30-24; 30-25), Rhode Island on Senior Day (38-29; 78-70) and St. Bonaventure during the A-10 Tournament (17-15; 55-49). The two lost were at Rhode Island (30-28; 70-58) and La Salle (34-32; 71-69). KEEP EM UNDER 70 POINTS In 10 of the 12 victories last year, the Minutewomen did not allow more than 69 points to the opposition. However, when foes scored at least 70 points the Minutewomen went 2-8 in , which included the overtime victory versus George Mason on Feb. 11 and the decision over Rhode Island on March 1. PICKING THEIR POCKETS Massachusetts averaged 7.2 steals per contest in with 217 during the 30-game campaign. Rashida Timbilla led the way in the category during with a team-high 67 steals (2.2 per game), followed by Cierra Dillard s 45. Timbilla is the active leader among Minutewomen in the category with 145 over 87 games, which is the 10th-most in UMass history. 4

5 BIG DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT IN UMass allowed 79.9 points per game during the season in its 31-contest slate. In , the Minutewomen only gave up 64.9 points per game, a difference of 15.0 allowed on average. It is the largest one-year improvement in fewest points allowed in the history of the program. The next-highest margin was a difference of 8.6 points between the season (74.6 points allowed per game) and campaign, when UMass allowed 66.0 points on average. INSIDE PRESCENCE IS PARAMOUNT During the 12 victories, the Minutewomen dominated their opponents in the paint. As a result, UMass owned a edge in scoring within the paint, a to per game margin, during those contests. The Minutewomen won the battle of the paint 19 times this year, including in 11 of the 12 victories. THERE S NO PLACE LIKE HOME UMass won eight times at home during , including victories over Maine, 69-60; Central Florida, 67-62; American, 71-61; Holy Cross, 72-61; La Salle, 71-68; George Mason in overtime, 85-79; Davidson, and Rhode Island, Kim Pierre-Louis averaged 24.0 points per game in those contests, followed by Cierra Dillard s 11.9 and Rashida Timbilla s 10.5 scored. Timbilla averaged a double-double at home with 10.0 rebounds while Pierre-Louis was close to Timbilla s level of production with 9.6 boards. As a team in those games, UMass shot 45.0 percent from the floor (202-of-449), including 37.0 percent from three-point land (30-of-81). They also outrebound foes at home, 41.0-to-34.6 on average. TIMBILLA S NEAR TRIPLE-DOUBLE Rashida Timbilla came close to earning a triple-dou- ble as she had nine rebounds, eight points and eight assists in the win over American (Dec. 6). Her assists total reset her single-game career-high. The last Minutewoman to record a triple-double was Jennifer Butler, who accomplished the feat against Charlotte on Nov. 17, 2000 with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. CHAMPIONS CENTER UPDATE The UMass Athletic Department finalized construction of the Champions Center this past summer - a dedicated basketball training facility directly South of the Mullins Center. The facility gives the basketball programs their first dedicated practice and training facility. At $28.5 million, it will be a 53,000 square foot complex that will be the new home for program daily operations. The official name of the facility is the John Francis Kennedy Champions Center For UMass Basketball. Kennedy is responsible for the lead gift to the project of $11 million. THE CANADIAN CONNECTION UMass has had eight Canadian players compete for the program in the history of the squad including Rashida Timbilla. The list also included sisters Alisha Tatham ( ) and Tamara Tatham ( ), Cleo Foster ( ), Carolann Cloutier ( ), JoAnn Dupuis ( ), Stephanie Lawrence ( ), and Kim Pierre-Louis ( ). The Minutewomen have had at least one Canadian-born player on their roster for each of the previous 13 seasons dating back to Foster s arrival in Amherst ahead of the 2001 campaign. 5

Dawley and assistant coaches Yolanda Griffith, Jen MacAulay and Chris Wielgus guided the Minutewomen to the 2015 A-10 postseason as indi- vidual players recorded year-long performances ranking among the most successful in program history. Pierre-Louis provided only the fifth season of 500-or-more points in the UMass women s basketball record book as she finished with 533 points. In her first season in Amherst, Dawley coached her squad to one of the best three point shooting percentages in the country, highlighted by Cerie Mosgrove, who led the nation with 49.7 percent clip from beyond the arc. Mosgrove, one of several Minutewomen who enjoyed career years under Dawley s guidance in , went on to win the National Women s Three-Point Shooting Championship at the men s Final Four in Houston, Texas. Simultaneously, Dawley and her staff helped 2013 graduate Jasmine Watson develop into one of the most successful players in program his- tory. Watson eclipsed 1,000 career points during the first game of her senior season to become the 18th member of the UMass women s basket- ball 1,000-point club while she capped her career among the top-20 all-time in more than a dozen program statistical categories. Dawley came to UMass after a highly suc- cessful tenure with the Catamounts that included two consecutive America East Championships ( and ) and three straight postsea- son berths. In seven seasons at Vermont, Dawley posted a mark of (.598) and holds a career record of (.539) through 20 seasons as a head coach. She became the winningest coach in Vermont women s basketball history when the Catamounts upset No. 7-seed Wisconsin in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on March 21, 2010, the program s first NCAA tourna- ment victory. Under Dawley s guidance, Vermont earned an automatic NCAA Tournament berth as a No. 10 seed after successfully defending its America East Tournament title in The Catamounts defeated top-seeded and No. 21-ranked Hartford in the conference championship game, UVM posted a record of 27-7 that 6 season, the third-highest wins total for the program all- time, and led the nation with 18 road victories. Dawley earned her 100th career win at Vermont with a victory over Hartford in the semifinals of the 2009 America East Championship as UVM went on to capture its first conference title since The Catamounts made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in nine years where the squad fell to eventual national champion Connecticut. During Dawley s stint on the Vermont sidelines, 23 of the 28 players that took the floor for Dawley earned either academic and/or athletic accolades from America East. She coached an America East Player of the Year, a Defensive Player of the Year, a Rookie of the Year, a two-time Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Most Outstanding Player at the America East Tournament. Under Dawley s direction, the Catamounts earned six all-conference selec- tions, four all-rookie nods and two all-academic team honors.
