Toledo: Last Meeting... 2/13/16, Ohio W, PAW PRINTS TOLEDO (12-4, 3-2 MAC) ROCKETS LAST TIME AGAINST TOLEDO - The Bobcats and Rockets last met on Feb. 13, 2016 where the Bobcats defeated Toledo in Savage Arena. - Overall, Kiyanna Black finished the game with 38 points, going 14-of- 27 from the field and 10-of-20 from three-point range. - LexienBaldwin finished the game with 16 points, going 6-of-11 from the field, 2-of-5 from beyond the arc and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. She followed up that performance with another nine point against UT Martin on Nov Then on Dec. 19 against Binghamton, when off the bench, Barker went 6-of-8 from three-point range and scored 18 points in Ohio s victory over the Bearcats. RECORDBOOK WATCH - As Quiera Lampkins career finishes, she is currently climbing in the record book. - Lampkins is currently sixth in field goals made, ninth in rebounds and sixth in steals. - Jasmine Weatherspoon is currently third in blocked shots. OHIO IN THE NCAA - The Bobcats are currently ranked 26th in field goal percentage defense, 14th in turnover margin, 27th in fewest turnovers and 33rd in forced turnovers and 13th in threepoint field goals per game and 33rd in steals per game. - Quiera Lampkins is ranked 29th in points per game and 42nd in steals per game. - Katie Barker is ranked 32nd in 3-point field goal percentage. 4 AGLER MAKES HER DEBUT - After sitting out the season after transferring from Indiana, guard Taylor Agler made her debut for the Bobcats against High Point on Nov Agler scored 15 points, going 4-of-8 from the field, 1-of- 3 from three-point range and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. - Agler also dished out four assists. SUFFOCATING DEFENSE - The Bobcats are once again producing stellar defense. - So far this season, Ohio is holding opponents to only 60.6 points a game. - The Bobcats are forcing opponents to turn the ball over an average of 20.4 times a game and are stealing the ball on average of 10.9 times a game. - The Bobcats help Buffalo to without a field goal through the first 12 minutes of their game against the Bulls on Jan. 4. MID-MAJOR POLL - The Bobcats are currently eighth in this week s collegeinsider.com mid-major poll. She played in 33 games last season and recorded career-high 18 points against FGCU on Nov. 20, She made career-high five FG against Toledo on Feb.13, 2016 and recorded careerhigh eight FT against FGCU on Nov. 20, Jenkins averaged three assists a game. - Also returning for the starters is senior forward Jasmine Weatherspoon. In Weatherspoon played and started in 32 games this season. She recorded careerhigh 14 points twice last season, Jan. 20, 2016 against Kent and March 2, 2016 against BGSU. She also recorded career-high 13 rebounds against FGCU on Nov. 20, 2015 and recorded career-high eight blocks against EMU on Jan. 13, She made career-high seven FG against Kent State on Jan. 20, 2016 and made career-high five FT against Indiana on Nov. 27, Weatherspoon recorded her first career double-double on Nov. 20, 2015 against FGCU when she scored 11 points and grabbed 13 boards. She made career-high three-pointers when she made three against Indiana and BGSU and set program record with 8 blocks against Eastern Michigan on Jan. 13, She averaged over six rebounds a game. - Also returning for the Bobcats is senior forwards Hannah Boesinger and Tmisht Stinson, redshirt sophomore Kelly Karlis, sophomores Kendall Jessing, Olivia Bower and Dominique Doseck and redshirt freshmen Hannah Thome and Katie Barker. NEWCOMERS - The Bobcats welcome two newcomers to the squad. - Amani Burke Lettered all four years at Columbus Eastmoor Academy under head coach Charity Martin. at 5 9 she averaged 14.9 points per game during her senior year. Burke reached 1,000 points and became the all-time leading scorer at Eastmoor Academy in 2016 In 24 games, she shot 55% from the field and averaged 3.5 steals per game in her junior year She was named the Division II Central District Player of the Year and Associated Press Division II co-player of the year in 2016 by the Ohio Basketball Coaches Association She was awarded as a Super 7 Standout after her performance at the Classic in the Country in Berlin, Ohio The team captain was a Top 64 selection, First Team AP Division II, First Team Division II Central District, Second Team All Classic winner and Second Team All-District Selection. - Meche la Cobb averaged 19.9 points, 10 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals in her senior season under coach Jeff Blunt She led New Albany to a overall record and to the cusp of the program s first Division I district championship Cobb lost her junior season to a torn left ACL In her sophomore season, she averaged 19 points per game, nine rebounds, and three blocks in 24 games... She has lettered three times in basketball and has lettered once in cross-country She was named to the Associated Press Division I All-Ohio girls basketball First Team, based on the recommendations of a media panel Cobb was also a This Week Super 12 captain in 2016 and was Special Mention OCC her freshman year and First Team All-OCC her sophomore year She was runnerup Player of the Year in her conference her sophomore year MILESTONES - On Nov. 28, 2015, the Bobcats defeated Indiana, giving them their first win over a Big Ten team since On Dec. 19, 2015 against East Carolina, Ohio defeated the Pirates for the first time since On Dec. 29, 2015, the Bobcats defeated Middle Tennessee State for the first time in program history. - Ohio started 9-0 in conference play for the first time in program history. - The Bobcats hit 17 three-pointers, setting the record for threes made in a MAC game on Jan. 20 at Kent State. - On Jan. 27, 2016 against Akron, the Bobcats set a program record for blocked shots in a game with On Feb. 17, 2016 against Miami, the Bobcats set a new program record for steals in a single season. - Against Akron on Feb. 20, 2016, the Bobcats scored 100 points. MARWAN S RETURN - Marwan Miller is beginning his first year as an assistant coach on head coach Bob Boldon s staff. - Miller served as an assistant coach at Saint Francis (Pa.) last season as an offensive coordinator. The team averaged 74.5 points per game in a fast paced system, which produced the 2016 NEC Freshman of the Year. Miller recruited in the state of Ohio and helped recruit two of Saint Francis current players. - During the 2015 season at Ohio, Miller filled in as an assistant coach to the women s basketball team during an assistant coach s maternity leave. He was on the floor coaching as well as recruiting and scouting during the team s Mid-American Conference Regular Season and MAC Tournament championships. - Prior to his year at Saint Francis (Pa.), Miller served as a Director of Operations at Ohio from At that time he was responsible for all logistics of travel and lodging, while also planning and organizing camps. The Bobcats hold the best record for points in one season in Ohio history with 2,375. Ohio made 312 three-pointers during the season and had 163 blocks, which are both the most in team history. The Cats also held a 12 game winning streak during the season, the second longest in Bobcat history, breaking the record Boldon and Ohio set in which was 10. The Bobcats also broke the record set by the team in three-point field goals attempted with 2,051. Ohio held a 10 game winning streak at the Convocation Center which was third in Bobcat history. In the season, junior guard Quiera Lampkins was named the 2016 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-MAC Second Team and the All-Defensive Team. Senior guard Kiyanna Black was named to the All-MAC First Team for the second consecutive season. Senior forward Lexie Baldwin was named All-MAC Honorable Mention and junior forward Jasmine Weatherspoon was also named to the All-Defensive Team. Black broke the Ohio record for career three-pointers made with 329 and career three-pointers attempted with 995. She also broke her own record for three-pointers made in a season (126) and three-pointers attempted in a season (347). She also broke the record for three-pointers made in an individual game on February 13th, 2016 at Toledo, where she made 10. Weatherspoon broke the record for blocks in an individual game on January 13th, 2016 at Eastern Michigan when she recorded eight. Boldon and the Bobcats set a program record for most wins (27) in a season in Boldon led the `Cats to a MAC Regular season and Tournament Championship and a birth in the NCAA Tournament, Ohio s first since Ohio University Director of Athletics Jim Schaus named Bob Boldon the new head coach of the Ohio Women s Basketball Program at a news conference on March 28, With six years of head coaching experience, Boldon became the 10th head coach in school history. Boldon came to Athens after spending the last three years of his head coaching career at Youngstown State. The Northeast Ohio native inherited a program which had posted a 0-30 record during the season and turned it into a Women s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) participant at the end of the season, posting two double-digit win seasons and one 23-win campaign along the way. Youngstown State s season was arguably the program s best in 15 years and included a first-round victory in the WNIT. Boldon led the Penguins to a mark (11-5 Horizon) last season en route to earning Horizon League Coach of the Year honors. In his three seasons of rebuilding Youngstown State, Boldon posted a (.419) overall record in which included a (.365) mark in league play. In six years as a head coach at both the NCAA and NAIA level, Boldon has gone (.533). Boldon, a native of Louisville, Ohio, graduated from Walsh in 1997 with a bachelor s degree in elementary education. As a studentathlete, he was a two-time All-America selection as a point guard and helped lead the Cavaliers to the Final Four of the NAIA Tournament. A four-year starter, he remains the school record holder in assists (775) while also ranking fourth in scoring with 1,694 points. Boldon was a 2008 inductee to Walsh s Wall of Fame, and his accomplishments were celebrated as one of the program s top 50 players in its 50-year history in He earned his master s degree in liberal studies from Indiana in 2003.
