2 INDIVIDUAL RECORDS The Official NCAA volleyball records began with the 1981 season and are based on information submitted to the NCAA statistics service by institutions participating in the statistics rankings. In statistical rankings, the rounding of percentages and/or averages may indicate ties where none exists. In these cases, the numerical order of the rankings is accurate. The format of a match changed in The term game was changed to set. Also, scoring for each set moved from 30 points to 25 points, except in matches that go to the full five sets, in which the winning score in the fifth set remains 15 points. The match format previously changed in 2001, with scoring for each set moving from 15 points to 30 points, except in matches that went to the full five sets, in which the winning score in the fifth set remained 15 points. In reflection of these changes, category leaders under the different scoring formats are separated in order to not eliminate the achievements of those student-athletes who played with the previous format. Information on blocking has not been included in the following records since there appeared to be a significant variance in the methods by which blocking statistics were kept during the 1980s. Research continues to determine a standard by which to measure blocking statistics for NCAA record-keeping purposes. Official career records include players whose career statistics were recorded during the era of official NCAA play. A national semifinal match is indicated by (NSF), a national third-place game by (N3d) and a national championship game by (CH). 13 TEAM RECORDS Official NCAA volleyball records began with the 1981 season and are based on information submitted to the NCAA statistics service by institutions participating in the statistics rankings.
