2 The Game The East Central University women s basketball team will continue their stay in Arkadelphia, Ark., to battle with Ouachita Baptist, Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. in Bill Vining Arena. The Broadcast ECU s radio home for Lady Tigers basketball in is Ada s KXFC, 105.5, FM The X-Factor. Kenny Morrison returns to broadcast the games for his 17th season. Morrison, a 1987 ECU graduate, spent two seasons doing color prior to taking over the play-by-play duties during the season. Fans can listen to the radio broadcast online or through the FREE KXFC App available in ITunes, Google Stores where apps are sold and Scouting Ouachita Baptist The Lady Tigers are 5-13 overall and 3-9 in the Great American Conference after winning their last game. OBU has a -6.1 scoring a -2.9 rebounding margin for the season. Ouachita has attempted 100 more shots than their opponents this season, but have not done as well at hitting those shots, with a.376 to.446 shooting percentage deficit. OBU has one player that is averaging more than 10 points per game and two more that are at nine. Nashia James leads the team with 14.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She has attempted 24 percent of the team overall shots and 32 percent of the triples. Breanna Harris and Elise Holeman each add just over nine points per game. Against the Lady Tigers Both teams struggled with shooting percentages in the first meeting in Ada this season. ECU shot 32.8 percent from the field, while OBU had a.321 mark. Senior Alycea Price and junior Ashleigh Kelman- Poto both had double-doubles for ECU. Price tallied 10 points and 13 boards, while Kelman-Poto added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Nashia James led Ouachita with 19 points and six rebounds, while Alexis Sharpe contributed 12 points. The Series ECU currently holds a 9-4 advantage in the all-time series after earning wins in the last three games. However, OBU has been the victor in the last two games at Bill Vining Arena. GAME NOTES Taking Down the Top Teams The Lady Tigers were the first team to hand then- No. 6 Harding a loss in the season when they earned a overtime victory. The win marked the first time since Jan. 14, 2012 that ECU had beaten a ranked opponent. The last time saw ECU down then-no. 1 Arkansas Tech (74-65) at the Kerr Activities Center. Price Stepping Up Senior Alycea Price has had a strong showing in the last few games. The Houston, Texas native hit the game-winning shot against No. 6 Harding (Jan. 25) in overtime and then tallied a career-best 19 points in the win over Henderson State (Jan. 30). Price is averaging 11.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season for the Lady Tigers. Tucker Chiming In Senior Alex Tucker has started all 16 games this season for the Lady Tigers and was a key disher of assists until the game at Southeastern Oklahoma State. Tucker stepped up her game and tallied a career-best 15 points, while adding one rebounds, two assists and one block and steal. Jackson Grabbing the Boards Redshirt freshman Jalyn Jackson has been pulling in the rebounds for the Lady Tigers this season, recording 10 or more rebounds in four games so far. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native had a careerbest 17 boards at Southern Arkansas, which included 11 offensive boards. She also added 17 against Southwestern (12 offensive), 10 at Harding (six offense) and 10 against Northwestern (eight offense). Garza Making A Splash Redshirt junior Janee Garza had an outstanding game for the Lady Tigers against Southern Arkansas. The Murphy, Texas, native tallied a career-high 15 points, hitting 5-of-11 shots from beyond the arc. Walling Wowing Junior Erin Walling has been improving all season and had one of the best games of her career against the Evangels. Walling tallied a career-high 22 points, with career-highs of six field goals and seven free throws. Robison Crashing the Glass Senior Ashley Robison had a strong rebounding effort against Mid-American Christian. The Tulsa, Okla., native tallied a career-best 18 rebounds, two offensive and 16 defensive. Robison also added 10 points for her first double-double of the season. OUACHITA BAPTIST VS. Home Sweet Home The Kerr Activities Center was very busy in November, with the Lady Tigers hosting the first five games of the season at home. This marks the first time since that ECU has played five-straight home games to start a season. That season, the Lady Tigers went 7-0 to start, while ECU is already 3-0 in Lady Tigers Picked Fourth in the GAC After finishing fifth in the Great American Conference standings in , ECU has been picked to finish fourth in the GAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league s head coaches. The Lady Tigers earned 69 points in the poll. ECU improved by 11 wins in in going Second-Team All-GAC forward Dilan Webster averaged 14.0 points and 7.3 rebounds in league games last season.
