1 Welcome to the Rhode Island Invitational A USAU sanctioned Division II and Division III Tournament SUNDAY, April 30th, :30am 5:00pm 146 Prince s Hill Ave Barrington, R.I FEE: $50.00/team Three brackets, one Division II and two Division III, each team playing five games. We will award in each bracket a SOTG award and a champion award determined by USAU round-robin rules. Philosophy: We hope that SOTG is the guiding philosophy of this tournament. 11 th edition Etiquette Principle E states: If a novice player commits an infraction out of sincere ignorance of the rules, it should be common practice to stop play and explain the infraction. 5 EXPERIENCE THE SPEED OF COLLEGE PLAY PLAY WITH THE COLLEGE PLAYERS A SPECIAL LUNCHTIME EVENT We are welcoming one player from each team to a brief play with the college players exhibition game on Field 1 from 12:10 to 12:30 during the lunch break. This is sometimes the highlight of the day for the players, and makes for an interesting entertainment while teams enjoy lunch. We ensure that the game will only last minutes so that no team s ace gets tired. Roger Williams University players will divide players by light/dark so please bring a light and dark jersey. SPIRIT OF THE GAME SENTENCES In this tournament we are employing a novel method for determining pool SOTG award winners. Please text a game score and a SPIRIT SENTENCE describing the spirit demonstrated by your opponent to the Pool TD at the end of each game. Sentences should be no less than 5 and no more than 40 words. Tournament directors will select spirit winner and read some of these sentences aloud at the awards ceremony. Spirit sentences will be compiled and transmitted to coaches after the tournament.
